Abstract

The low compatibility between thermoplastic and wood components is a major problem in the manufacture of wood plastic composite. Compatibilities used such as maleic anhydride is useful to increase the value of the mechanical and physical properties of the WPC. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the composition palm frond/polyethyleneand maleic anhydride on the properties and morphology of wood plastic composite. The composition of palm frond/polyethylene used is 50/50, 60/40, 70/30 with a mixture of 2% paraffin additive, maleic anhydride (MAH) 3%, 4%, 5%, and benzoyl peroxide 1% of the weight of MAH. The process of mixing fillers, matrices, and additives uses an Internal MixerLabo Plastomill at temperature of 145oC and rotor speed of 80 rpm. The sample was then pressed using a hot press at a temperature of 145oC and a pressure of 100 kgf/cm2. Composites produced were tested including characterization of functional groups, morphological conditions, physical properties and mechanical properties. The results showed that the addition of filler and maleic anhydride composition had a relatively significant effect. The best WPC material is found in the variation palm frond/polyethylene60/40 and MAH 5% with a density value of 1.19 gr/cm3, water content of 0.16%, water absorption capacity of 0.41%, swelling thickness of 0.11%, tensile strength of 18.664 MPa, elastic modulus of 2175.9 MPa, and flexural strength of 35.05 MPa.Keywords: benzoyl peroxide, maleic anhydride, palm stem, wood plastic composite

Abstract

Styrofoam is a persistent plastic that is difficult to decompose naturally in the environment, is microplastic, which causes its accumulation as a major contaminant in soils, rivers and oceans. One method to process styrofoam waste is biodegradation. Biodegradation of styrofoam waste using mealworm (Tenebrio molitor larvae) was carried out by giving styrofoam as the main feed. The mealworm has been studied for their potential as decomposer of styrofoam due to best quality nutrient content. This study aims to increase the rate of biodegradation of styrofoam. Styrofoam waste used in this research is the type of Extruded Polystyrene (XPS) with variation of composition nutrients (tofu waste, bran, and yeast). The result showed that addition of bran nutrients could increase biodegradation rate by 27,26 mg/day with the highest percentage of 42,41% compared to other treatments for 28 days of observation.Keywords: styrofoam waste, biodegradation, mealworm, biodegradation rate, nutrition.

Abstract

Tampan is one of the sub-districts in Pekanbaru City, with flat geographical position between 0 ° 42'-0 ° 50 'North Latitude and between 101 ° 35'-101 ° 43' East Longitude. In Regional Regulation Spatial Plan Pekanbaru, Tampan subdistrict is a Development Area (WP) V. Development Area V is a center of residential, occupation, industrial, office, government and trade. The number of residents Kecamatan Tampan are 220,208 in 2015. This increased by 3.12 percent from 2014. Population density 3,682 inhabitants / km2Conducted to find out the extent of the impact caused by the development and change of land function which is marked by the utilization of land for the activities in the suburbs towards the function of Garuda Sakti street, Tampan Sub-district. The objective of this study is to produce the projection of Garuda Sakti Street function in the next five years, namely in 2022.The changes in residential land, trade and services, education and healt is increasing an average of 17.02 per year. movement of settlement area by 0,0095 smp/hour/m2, trade and service area of 0,0111 smp/hour/m2, education area 0,2603 smp/hour/m2 and health area 0,1738 Smp / hour / m2. The volume of traffic flow at peak hour is 1567 smp/hour. With a capacity of 1866 pcu/hour, the road class is debated into the secondary collector category.The suggestion in this research is that it is needed to improve the management of traffic engineering and consider to raise the road class become the primary collector.Keyword: Regional Development, Land Changes

Abstract

Solar Selective Absorber (SSA) is the most important part that determines the efficiency of solar thermal collectors. SSA should have high absorptance (low reflectance at wavelengths <2.5 m) and low emitance (high reflectance at wavelengths> 2.5 m). Solar selective absorber can be synthesized using sol-gel dip coating method. The purpose of this research is to know the effect variation number of dipping-drying cycles to absorptance copper-cobalt coating and get a coating of copper cobalt that have absorptance value is high (> 80%) and low emitance (<10%). The coating were synthesized by molar percursors 0.25:0.5M and number of dipping-drying cycles 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 6x, 8x and 10x. Reflektance spectra in the area of UV-Vis-NIR showed that increased cycles of dipping-drying cycles (which increases the thickness of the coating) increase the value of absorptance (α). The results showed that the highest absorptance value found in coatings which was synthesized using mixture copper nitrate and cobalt nitrate 0.25:0.5M M at 2x cycles (dipping and drying) with absorptance (α) = 84.90%. Further characterization showed emitance values (ε) = 13.2%.Keywords : aluminum, coating, solar selective absorber and sol-gel dip-coating

Abstract

The irrigation canal available throughout the Tarmland in Province of Riau. The irrigation system can be utilized as hydropower generation even if the possibility can only move a small-scale water turbine, but when made in large quantities would produce large amounts of energy. In this study tested the water turbine type undershot with installation of turbines in series on the flow of irrigation and compare them with the installation of turbine singly. From the testing that has been done the efficiency of turbines produced at the time of testing in series lower than in a single test, this is because at the time of testing the water flowing series obstructed by the second turbine, thus making the water flow is not smooth. The highest power generated main turbine installed in series is 153.66 Watt on water flow of 0.308 m3/ s, the highest power generated while the main turbine installed singly is 196.25 Watt on water flow of 0.308 m3/s.Keywords: Irrigation canal, Undershot Water Turbine, series Tested.

Abstract

The reliability of electric power system generation is a very important aspect of operation electrical power system because in operation of the plant that has been scheduled is not always able tooperate in accordance with the predetermined scheduling, there are have a lot of obtacles that can cause that plant will be fail to operate properly, both due to interference from outside and fromwithin generating system itself. Through probability value of the electric power system, it is obtained how much the continuity of operation from that power plant system with good quality.That is why reliability of the power system generation must maintain the value. In this article the calculation in finding the level of reliability of the generating system uses the recursive method ofconvolution which in this case is used to find the level of reliability of a private power plant system that exists in Riau Province. Analysis conducted using data for the last 5 years by taking thereliability index is Loss of Load Expectation (LOLE). Calculation in finding the reliability index of the generator system using software MATLAB and Microsoft Excel. In the search for reliabilityindexes at the generating system, it refers to international standard for the LOLE index itself, which is 0.1 days / year.Keywords : LOLE, Power System Generation, Reliability

Abstract

The estimation of power consumption within Pekanbaru area in the coming decades is being analyze using of the software Long-range Energy Alternative Plan Systems (LEAP). The calculation is done by putting some variables of electrical energy consumption and the grow of electric consumption. The result of LEAP analysis is showing the grow of power consumption during period of 2015-2024 by 9,63% per year or in the other word increasement from 1667,43% GWh into 3943,04% GWh. The government and electric company (PLN) need to put attention and effort to make sure the figure of grow are able to realize. The effort is indicated by localizing the potential of power generation to be build within the area of Riau Province. Those potential of power generator includes some renewable energy i.e Microhydro Power Plant, Solar Power Plant Centralized, Solar Street Lighting, and biomass/biogass plant. Some of typical resources can be considered such as water potential, coal potential, and peat potential.Keywords: Electricity, Intensity energy, LEAP, Renewable energy

Abstract

The rapid growth of electricity demand is not followed by an increase in electricity supply will trigger an electrical crisis. One effort that can be done to overcome the problem is to save energy. Energy savings can be done with attention to one of the system of light and humidity. Where the system of light and air conditioning is one of the biggest things in the use of electricity by karna it is necessary to do analysis of the intensity of light and humidity room where the analysis is done in Building C Faculty of Engineering, University of Riau. From the calculation of the intensity of light and humidity in Building C Faculty of Engineering University of Riau note that most of the room in Building C Faculty of Engineering, University of Riau has the room temperature and lighting intensity below the standard value. Where for the standard value set for the lighting system is 350 Lux while the light intensity in building c of the riau university engineering faculty is below 350 Lux It should be noted again to improve occupant comfort, light intensity and humidity in Building C Faculty of Engineering can be improved by using lamp energy efficient, ac maintenance routines and also apply energy-saving culture in Building C Faculty of Engineering Keywords : Light intensity, Humidity of the room, Energy Consumption Intensity

Abstract

Noken is the one of the variety handicraft in Indonesia from Papua. Noken is listed on UNESCO as an Indonesian culture heritage that must be preserved. Augmented Reality (AR) technology can beimplemented into an interactive application, so it can increase people attractiveness to know and to introduce Indonesian traditional handicrafts to the world. Commonly, AR application uses special marker so that application can be run (Marker Based Tracking). The use of these markers makes the application inflexible, because only certain marker which already uploaded by programmer on database system can be used. The research’s goal is to present noken in an application by showing3D object and video about noken on AR environment without using special marker. This application is created with Unity 3D and Vuforia by using Markerless User Defined Target (UDT). Moreover,some tools are also needed as supporting tools, like as Adobe Photoshop for interface designing, Adobe Premier for video editing, and Blender for creating noken 3D object. The final result of thisresearch is AR application for android with UDT technique which capable to show 3D object and video above real marker selected by user after detected by smartphone camera. The resultingapplication is alsoequipped with interactive features like scale and rotate. Abstract

Cancer and brain tumors are very serious diseases and problems for human health. Early detection of brain tumors is indispensable considering that every year the victims are increasing. Ultra Wideband microwave imaging is a technique that uses electromagnetic signals with wide bandwidth to see through the internal structure of the brain. This study introduces a circular and rectangular array antenna design in a circle configuration that operates in frequency range from 2 GHz to 13 GHz, the antennas are designed and simulated to detect the presence of tumors. The analysis was carried out by comparing E-Field, H-Field, the number of Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) with tumors. With a circle configuration, each antenna element faces directly into brain phantom for better tumor detection. From the simulation results, E-Field and H-Field are obtained in the brain with tumors.
