Abstract

This study is to analyze the operational costs, maintenance on Rigid Pavement (RF) and Flexible Favement (FP). Project design life is 20 years. Design Method at Simpang Beringin Maredan Siak for RP is PdT-14-2003, while FP is use PtT PL-01-2002-B method of Highways. The primary data was gained from survey the average daily car movement (LHR) documentation and secondary data which was collected from the details of the work’s volume, unit price list, unit price analysis, heavy equipment leasing, and maintenance costs during the design life of 20 years. As a result, RP thickness by using the method of Highways produced concrete pavement thickness of 27 cm, 10cm layer of concrete foundation, reinforcement dowel Ø 33 mm plain and reinforcement tie D166 mm threaded bar and FP produced layer of asphalt concrete pavement thickness of (AC-WC) 4,2cm, layer of asphalt concrete (AC-BC) 6 cm, class A aggregate based layer was 25 cm, class B aggregate based layer was 50 cm. RP cost of Rp. 17,232,129,032.15 and FP cost of Rp.13,780,354,350.72. the difference betwwen two cost is around 20.03%. The costs for maintenance bending pavement was Rp. 56,809,224,912.16 and rigid pavement maintenance costs Rp.44,033,259,315.85 the different of both of charge of approximately 22.49% in terms of pavement with a design life of 20 years.Keywords: Rigid Pavement, Flexible Pavement, Unit Price, Budget Plan, Simpang Maredan.

Abstract

Excessive human consumption and dependence on fossil fuels cause fuel reserves become depleted, while for the renewal takes thousands and even millions of years. To overcome fossil fuel dependency is carried sorghum starch conversion into bioethanol as a renewable energy. In this research, sorghum starch fermentation process using bacteria Saccharomyces Cerevisiae reviewed variations additions Cordyceps sinensis 0.5 g, 1 g, 1.5 g, and 2 g, to obtain bioethanol from sorghum starch with higher level. The purpose of this study to determine the effect of addition Cordyceps Sinensis variation conversion to bioethanol produced and determine the effect of variations in the fermentation time to conversion of bioethanol produced. Fermentation was conducted in 2 Liter fermentor with variations of fermentation time from 12, 24, 48, 72, until 96 hours, addition of Cordyceps Sinensis 0.5 g, 1 g, 1.5 g, and 2 g. Cordyceps sinensis role in improving the resilience microbial cells in the fermentation medium to produce bioethanol at higher level. The addition Cordyceps Sinensis can promote the growth microorganisms and fermentation activity. Sorghum starch fermentation process produce optimum conditions on addition Cordyceps Sinensis much as 1 gram and fermentation time of 96 hours with a bioethanol content of 2.124882% (v / v).Keywords: Bioethanol, Starch Sorghum, Saccharomyces Cerevisiae, Cordyceps Sinensis

Abstract

Chitin can be transformed into chitosan by deacetylation process using chemical methods. Chitosan many applied in various fields especially in the field of biomaterials. The purpose of this research to study the effect of the mass ratio of chitin and NaOH volume of the reaction time in the process of deacetylation. Shrimp shells in the puree with a size of 50 mesh. Chitin in shrimp shell powder are in isolation with process deproteination and demineralization. Chitin which has been synthesized and then transformed into chitosan by deacetylation process operating conditions with a temperature of 120oC, stirring speed of 150 rpm, the mass ratio of chitin and NaOH 50% volume 1:15, 1:20, 1:25 (w/v) and time reaction of 0.5; 1; 1.5; 2; 2.5 and 3 hours. The results showed that increasing the value of the mass ratio of chitin and NaOH volume of the reaction time resulting in increased degree of deacetylation and depreciation ash content and yield of chitosan, while the water content does not have a significant effect. On the addition of NaOH volume 15 , 20 and 25 ml , and the reaction time of 0.5 ; 1; 1.5; 2; 2,5; 3 hours have the value of yield, moisture content, ash content, degree of deacetylation and molecular weight respectively ranged from 86.6-63.5%, 1.21-1.00 %, 1.93-1.06 %, 67.52-86.09 % and 2,699 x109-2,9334 x109 g/mol.Keywords: deacetylation; demineralization; deproteination; chitin; chitosan;

Abstract

Helical pile can provide an alternative for wood pile over peat soil. The reaserch studied about the effect of spacing of helical plates to uplift capacity of helical pile and compared to wood pile and helical without pile. The spacing of helical plates used were 20, 30, and 50 cm. Uplift iltimate capacity was interpreted by Tangent Intersection and Terzaghi and Peck method. Theoritical uplift capacity of helical pile was calculated using Iindividual Plate Bearing and Cylindrical Shear method. Based on the result, correlation of uplift capacity and spacing of helical plates was not linier proportional. Spacing of helical plates 30 cm showed the biggest capacity compared to space 20 and 50 cm. According to interpretation method, the uplift capacity of helical pile approach to Cylindrical Shear mechanism better than Individual Bearing. More over, helical pile had a greater uplift capacity compared to wood pile or helical without pile.Keywords: Helical Pile, Spacing of Helical Plates, Peat soil, uplift Capacity, Wood Pile, pile without helical.

Abstract

Siak basin which is flowing through Pekanbaru has eleven sub basins. There are five sub basins in the north and six in the south of siak basin with each different characteristic.Completeness of the information sub basin characteristic data was very limited, thus it required an assessment about the parameter of basin characteristics. The assessment of thesecharacteristics used DEM data and the technology of Geographic Information System (GIS) to determine river’s network. This basin characteristic data was used to determine the flood discharge using three synthetic unit hydrograph methods, there were Gama I, SCS (Soil conservation service), and ITB method. The synthetic unit hydrograph method that could be applied to each sub basin was found based on the principle of unit hydrograph with one millimetre of direct run off and volume error less than 5 %. Based on the result of case study on Siak sub basins, the synthetic unit hydrograph method that can be applied to each subbasin is ITB method, which the result of direct runoff (DRo) obtained 1 mm and volume error 0%.Keywords: Basin Characteristic, GIS, Synthetic Unit Hydrograph

Abstract

This study aims to investigate whether or not the extents of Sultan Syarif Kasim II International Airport which is located in Pekanbaru need to be developed. Using linear regression method, this study forecasted that there will be a need to develop terminal building area up to 63.414m2 with the capacity of passengers about 6.693.746 every year and it will be accommodated approximately 3724 passengers on peak hour in 2035. The development of terminal building area is bigger than existing area in 25.779 m2 and the capacity of passengers is 3,2 millions every year while accommodating 1866 passengers on peak hour.Keywords : Terminal Buiding, Development

Abstract

The land use changes at Tapung Kiri watershed can affected the groundwater availability and affecting the fluctuations of rivers flow. Therefore, to develop strategies for a comprehensive watershed management, it is required a hydrological model that can represent the hydrological cycle of watershed. Hydrological model was performed by using SWAT tool. The SWAT simulations was performed in various scenarios for land use changes in the period of 2002, 2007 and 2012. Land use map that used as an input to SWAT were Landsat images that processed by the Supervised Classification method. Based on the results of this study, the most optimal value of coefficient of determination (R2) is 0,62 and the value of Nash Sutcliffe Efficiency (NSE) is 0,62. Process of validation obtained coefficient R2 = 0,51 and NSE = 0,40. These results have satisfied the research objectives as the findings coefficient were > R2 min 0,4, and >NSE 0,35. Analysis of groundwater availability was conducted by comparing the ratio of Qmaximum and Qminimum during 2002 to 2012. Comparison of obtained ratio value were 5,53 (2002), 11,22 (2007), and 8,68 (2012). If the value ratio Qmaximum / Qminimum was bigger, then groundwater availability increasingly critical. Therefore, changes of land use at Tapung Kiri watershed can cause groundwater reserves increasingly critical.Keywords: Land use change, SWAT model, groundwater availability.

Abstract

Airport pavements are constructed to support the loads by aircraft using an airport. Pavements must be smooth surface, adequate of thickness, stable and not having distress. The purpose of this research are analyze pavement thickness landing movement such as runway, taxiway, and apron. Planning pavement thickness consist of flexible pavement and rigid pavement. Runway and taxiway using flexible pavement while taxiway using rigid pavement. Design pavementthickness landing movement refers to the method FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) Advisor Circular No : 150/5320-6D. Data movement of aircraft using air transportation data in2013 for scheduled flights. The analysis result shows the total pavement thickness runway, taxiway, and apron in a row is 75 cm, 68 cm, and 104 cm with aircraft plan B 737-900ER. While total pavement thickness for existing is 70 cm, 68 cm, and 117 cm.Keywords: Airport Pavement Design, FAA method, flexible and rigid pavement

Abstract

Utilization of renewable energy sources and conversion devices increasingly varied. Sago waste as a source of cleanliness issues, can be viewed as a source of alternative energy with green technologies both of process and product. Construction of biogas power plant (PLTBiogas) is a solution of renewable energy (EBT) to increase energy needs and help to reduce dependence on fuels (fossil energy). To reduce the cost of fuel, optimalize schedule of thermal generating units in the system need to be done . Problem related to the schedule is the Economic Dispatch consists of dividing the load at each generating unit in order to obtain a combination of generating units to meet the load demand with optimum. Dividing of cost of load for each thermal generating unit can be obtained by using the lambda iteration method. Abstract

The rapid growth of electricity needs were not followed by an increase in the supply of electric energy will trigger the electricity crisis. One effort that can be done to overcome the problem is to conserve energy. Energy conservation can be done through energy audits of electrical activity in the Rector Building , University of Riau . From the calculations, the intensity of the electrical energy consumption of the Rector Building , University of Riau for non - AC room of 4.93 kWh / m2 / month included in the criteria is very inefficient and 10.53 kWh / m2 / month for a room with air conditioning included in kriterian efficient . Based on research that has been made known that most of the room at the Rector Building , University of Riau has room temperature and lighting intensity below the standard value . Energy efficiency in the Rector Building Riau University can be improved by using energy-saving lamps , air conditioning maintenance routine and also implement energy-saving culture at the University of RiauKeywords: The intensity of energy consumption , Energy Audit , Energy Conservation
