Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the potential of leaflet design on conventional biotechnology materials for learning Biology in high school class XII. This research was conducted at the Binawidya Campus, Riau University in September - November 2019. The design of this study used the ADDIE model, namely the analysis (analyze) and design (design) stages. This study uses an experimental method with a quantitative descriptive type of research. Based on the results of the potential analysis, the results obtained from the production of white oyster mushroom cultivation can be used as leaflet designs on conventional biotechnology material for class XII that are by curriculum analysis, namely KD 3.10 and 4.10.Key Words: Leaflet, Biotechnology material, White Oyster Mushroom.

Abstract

Abstract: This study discusses the translation of Japanese cultural words in “Rahasia Hati” novel by Natsume Soseki which was translated by Hartojo Andangdjaja in Indonesian. This study aims to explain the methods and procedures of translating cultural words in the category of ecology and material culture as well as their equivalence of meaning. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative. Data were obtained by reading and understanding novels in Indonesian and their translations into Indonesian, then writing and classifying several relevant cultural words into the categories of ecology and material culture. This study obtained 53 data on cultural words which includes 7 translation procedures used, namely transposition, modulation, adaptation or cultural equivalence, notes, contextual equivalence, transference, and functional equivalence. The translation method used tends to be oriented towards the target language.Key Words: Translation, Cultural Words, Method, Procedure, Equivalence

Abstract

Abstract: The development and coaching of volleyball achievements in Kuantan Singingi Regency has become a problem since the covid 19 pandemic, the women's volleyball team of Kuantan Singingi Regency rarely carries out routine training activities, so it is feared that this can reduce the quality of the game owned by the women's volleyball team. Since 2020 Kuantan Singingi athletes and coaches have undergone a change in the coaching process, due to an epidemic that has attacked the whole world including Indonesia, namely the Covid-19 pandemic (corona virus disease 2019), therefore it is necessary to review the basic technical profile of the volleyball team daughter of Kuantan Singingi Regency during the covid-19 pandemic?. Therefore, this study was conducted with the aim of knowing the basic technical profile of the women's volleyball team in Kuantan Singingi Regency during the COVID-19 pandemic. The type of research used is descriptive using survey methods, with data collection techniques using test and measurement techniques. The data in this study were the entire population of 20 people with a test instrument, namely a volleyball skill test (service test, top passing test, bottom passing and smash test). Based on data collection and data processing techniques, the raw scores obtained through the volleyball playing skill test were converted into T scores and then interpreted into volleyball skills test norms with the AAHPERD Volleyball Test Norms assessment standard, it was found that the basic technical profile of the district women's volleyball team Kuantan Singingi during the covid-19 pandemic got an average t score of 49.84 which was included in the Medium categoryKey Words: Basic Technical Profile of Women's Volleyball Team, Covid-19

Abstract

Abstract: The objectives of this study were to perceive vocabulary mastery of students, reading comprehension of students, and whether there is a correlation between these two topics. The data were taken from 29 students in the second year at SMK Abdurrab. The tests were employed to quantify two variables, namely vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension. The statistical analyzes were performed with SPSS 25. The outcomes uncovered that students' vocabulary mastery and students' reading comprehension are at enough category. Meanwhile, the correlation analysis indicated on that point there is a positive correlation between vocabulary mastery (x) and reading comprehension (y). And when the Pearson value was interpreted based on correlation table is in the range 0.60 – 0.799, which means strong correlation.Key Words: Correlation, Vocabulary Mastery, Reading Comprehension

Abstract

Abstract: Science process skills are skills used by scientist to obtain knowledge products. Research planning is one of the important aspects of science processing skills and help improve students' mindsets through experimental activities so that they are able to develop their scientific skills. The purpose of this study is to describe the extent to which students' science process skills in research planning after applying the virtual laboratory-assisted discovery learning model to Newton's law material. There were 141 students who participated in the research conducted in class X MIPA in the even semester of the 2021/2022 academic year at SMA Negeri 2 Tualang, Kab. Siak, Prov. Riau. This research is a quasi-experimental research with a non-equivalent control group design involving two groups, namely the experimental group and the control group. Descriptively, the pretest of students' science process skills in both groups was categorized as very poor. The experimental group will be treated with the application of discovery learning assisted by a virtual laboratory and the control group using conventional learning. The percentage of students' research planning skills with conventional learning based on the posttest average score is 55 which is still in the poor category, while the research planning skills of students with virtual laboratory assisted discovery learning have increased to 89 and are in the very good category.Keywords: Discovery Learning, Science Process Skills, Virtual Laboratory, Research Planning

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to produce Electronic Student Worksheets (LKPD) Based on Critical Thinking Skills Through Case Methods on Digestive System Materials for class XI high school. This research was carried out at the Biology Education Study Program, Faculty of Education, Riau University and SMA Negeri 1 Kampar Kiri Hilir from November 2021 to March 2022. The research subject was KD 3.6 material on the food digestive system in class XI SMA. The type of research used is the ADDIE Research and Development model. The instruments used are in the form of validation sheets and response questionnaires. the validation sheet consists of 3 aspects, namely the design aspect, the pedagogic aspect, and the content feasibility aspect. the average results of the validation of the electronic LKPD based on these three aspects are 3.79, 3.83, and 3.93, respectively, with an average overall score of 3.85 in the very valid category. the results of the limited trial phase I got an average score of 3.74 with a very good category. while the results of the second phase of the trial got an average score of 3.53 with a very good category. The results of the study show that the electronic worksheets based on critical thinking skills through the case method on the digestive system material for class XI are of high quality and are suitable to be used as learning resources.Key Words: Electronic LKPD, Critical Thinking, Case Method, Digestive System

Abstract

Abstract: This research aimed to know and analyze implicatures utterance based on the violation of maxims in Yotsuba&! by Kiyohiko Azuma. This research is qualitative descriptive with analyzed by using contextual method. The data in Yotsuba&! were collected by using listening method and note-taking technique. As a result of the study it is found that there are as many as 20 violation of maxims and as many as 24 implicature data. In this research, only conventional implicatures are not based on cooperative principle.Key Word: implicature, maxim, comic

Abstract

Abstract: This study contains a plot analysis of the anime Barakamon based on the theory of structuralism. The problem that will be discussed in this study is the Barakamon anime plot seen from the narrative structure contained in the anime. The purpose of this study is to describe the plot based on the theory of structuralism. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The data source used in this study is the Barakamon anime by director Masaki Tachibana. The collected data is then described based on Robert Stanton's theory. The steps taken are selecting and determining the object of research, identifying, limiting the subject matter, collecting data, analyzing data and seeking conclusions. Based on this research, the researchers obtained the results, namely in the Barakamon anime, it showed an initial plot, middle plot, and final plot. These auras complement each other so that a complete story is built.Key Words: Analysis, Anime.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to describe the effectiveness of the TGT type cooperative learning model (Team Games Tournament) assisted by the kahoot application in improving cognitive learning outcomes, and to determine the differences in cognitive learning outcomes of students who apply the TGT type cooperative learning model assisted by the kahoot application with the conventional model class VIII MTs N. 1 Meranti Islands. The type of research used is quasi-experimental using Posttest Only Nonequvalent Control Group Design. The population of this study were 192 students of class VIII MTs N 1 Meranti Islands. The samples of this study were students of class VIII A as the control class and class VIII B as the experimental class. The data collection instrument was in the form of a cognitive learning outcome test for class VIII students on substance pressure. Data analysis was carried out by descriptive analysis and inferential analysis using the SPSS version 23 application. The results of this study indicate that there are differences in student cognitive learning outcomes between the control and experimental groups and the use of the TGT type cooperative learning model assisted by the Kahoot application is effectively used to improve student cognitive learning outcomes. class VIII MTs N 1 Meranti Islands on the subject of Substance Pressure.Key Words : Cooperative Learning Model TGT type, Cognitive Learning Outcomes,Substance Pressure

Abstract

Abstract: This descriptive research aimed to find out the ability level of the second-year students of SMA Negeri 2 Tebing Tinggi in writing a formal invitation letter. The subjects of this study were the second-year students of SMA Negeri 2 Tebing Tinggi who were selected by using the cluster random sampling technique. 25 students employed in this study used the Writing Test. The results of the data analysis showed that the mean score of the students` ability in writing a formal invitation letter was 67.48. It can be stated that the ability of the second-year students of SMA Negeri 2 Tebing Tinggi in writing a formal invitation letter was adequate category level. Based on the result of the students’ ability in each writing aspect, the lowest score was in the mechanics' aspect and the highest score is in the organization aspect.Key Words: Study, Writing Ability, Formal Invitation Letter
