Abstract

Karoseri is a car body company that produces vehicle bodies and frames. The problem faced by the company is that the inventory of raw materials in the warehouse is often out of stock. These problems can cause delays in production schedules and overtime for workers. The existence of this problem is caused by 2 parties, between suppliers and karoseri. From the supplier's side, the lead time for goods to arrive at the warehouse is uncertain. From karoseri’s side, the amount of safety stock has not been updated and there is no order planning method or system used. The need for raw materials at karoseri is also variable or probabilistic, so the proposed solution is to use the continuous review and periodic review methods. The results of the calculation and simulation of the raw material requirements per day, it is found that the continuous review method gets the cheapest total inventory cost. After finding the best method for ordering raw materials, a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is made regarding the planning of ordering raw materials so that the parties involved can understand and understand how to use the continuous review method calculation for ordering raw materials.

Abstract

This research aims to optimize the shipping routes of the largest container shipping liner company in Indonesia. Route optimization is essential for improving the efficiency of the company in the face of increasingly intense business and industry competition. In this study, a multi-objective approach is used, considering both demand and distance factors. The proposed evaluation model utilizes a modified minimum spanning tree (MST) with probabilistic calculations based on historical data. The modification takes into account probabilistic factors derived from past data, enabling better decision-making.Additionally, for scenarios where the route needs to return to the depot, the Christofides algorithm is employed. The Christofides algorithm is used to solve the Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP), where the objective is to find the shortest path that visits all points and returns to the starting point. This algorithm is based on the MST. The results of the conducted case studies using this model show an improvement in the performance of shipping routes, with a 1.13% increase in ship utility and a 2.83% decrease in total distance. Therefore, it can be concluded that the evaluation model for shipping routes, employing a multiobjective approach, modified MST with probabilistic considerations, and the Christofides algorithm, can provide more efficient solutions and opportunities for operational improvements in the company.

Abstract

PT. X is a company engaged in the plastic industry and focuses on providingplastic bags and geotextile products. The objective of the final project is to minimize workplace accidents using the behavior-based safety (BBS) approach at PT. X. The methods used in the behavior-based safety approach are called DO IT. The DO IT method consists of 4 steps: define, observe, intervene, and test. After conducting observations and analyzing the data, it was found that the circular loom, converting, and workshop processes have a good safety act score, above 80%. The extruder process has the lowest safe acts among the other processes, 71%. The extruder process has the lowest percentage of safe acts, so it is prioritized to be proposed for improvements to enhance operator behavior and reduce workplace accidents. After implementing the improvement, the percentage of safe acts in the extruder process increased to 87%.

Abstract

PT. "ABC" is a company engaged in the field of fastmoving consumer goods. In carrying out export shipments, companies sometimes experience problems in product delivery times. This can be seen from the data obtained for shipments to Vietnam in 2022. In 2022, there will be delivery delays in August, October and November. During the observation, it was found that the cause of the delay was a lack of duplex material. The shortage of duplex material was caused by inaccurate company forecasts and inappropriate stock data due to the FIFO system not working properly. From this, a proposal is designed to overcome the problem of company forecasts and the FIFO system. Based on demand data from 2018 to 2022 for Vietnam, the best forecast method is the winter multiplicative method. This method has an error value of 11,474 for MAD, 228,642 for MSE, and 15,409% for MAPE. The design of the proposed FIFO system is carried out to reduce the occurrence of human error when inputting data and taking raw materials.

Abstract

PT. X has a guideline about the assessment system for soft competencies for management trainee and supervisors, but the guideline reveals several overlapping, unclear competencies and behaviors that impact the assessment system. The current assessment system lacks accuracy and has difficulties in identifying the root causes of issues. In addition to the overlapping competencies and behaviors, the current assessment has no indicators for each behavior, and the assessment system itself is not good enough, resulting in poor scores. Therefore, this research aims to create a standardization of soft competencies for management trainee and supervisor. The research use expert judgment method to create a new standardization for soft competencies. After the new standard for soft competencies is created, a distribution of forms is conducted, and an analysis is performed by comparing the form assessments with the general assessments. The average score obtained is 3.8 points, with a range of differences between the form assessments and the general assessments from 0.1 to 12.58 points. It is found that 61.5% of the priority competencies need improvement in terms of accuracy. As a result, concluded that the newly standard soft competency cannot be implemented yet due to insufficient data and inadequate analysis results.

Abstract

PT X is a car body company that produces Large Buses, Medium Buses, Electric Buses, and Micro Buses. PT X serves orders for the manufacture of buses in accordance with customer requests. PT.X experiences a large non-value added. This causes waste so that waste needs to be handled. to deal with waste effectively, the biggest waste must be found first and dealt with. To handle the waste problem, a proposal is made using the DMAIC, VSM, 7 Waste, Stopwatch Time Study, 5 Why, and 5S methods. After identification, it was found that there was waste in the trimming section. In the trimming section, there is a waste inventory that correlates with waste waiting, namely taking glass that takes a long time. This is due to the absence of a glass storage system. After making a proposal using the 5S method, the results are obtained in the form of a glass storage arrangement, a glass sorting system, a glass storage cleaning schedule, a glass storage Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), and a glass storage Checklist. This system is made so that later it is hoped that 5S can become a habit.

Abstract

This articles discusses the problem of route design and demand allocation for each vessel at shipping company, it intends to determine the most efficient routes in terms of overall total distance and utility for each vessel. The proposed model is the modified Heterogeneous Fleet Vehicle Routing Problem to address the pickup and delivery problem. The approach utilizes transition probability to consider the company's historical route generation experience. It also combines distance and demand between ports to handle the two objective functions. This model can create beter routes and vessel allocations with respect to total distance and average ship utility, as indicated by the comparative analysis. Implementing the model with demands at the homebases in Jakarta and Surabaya reduced the total distance by up to 1160 N.Miles and increased average utility by 20% from the previous routes. However, the model only proposes using ships according to the efficient number for operation and is currently limited to the process of only one homebase. The current model has been automated into a program that functions as a decision support system for the company to determine the best or near-optimal routes.

Abstract

PT. SPS has an ineffective finished materials warehouse layout. This is because the layout of the company is only based on the customer. Therefore the research aims to make the layout more effective by reducing the moment of material handling equipment. Making this layout is based on customer priority where customer priority is obtained from the total tonnage of storage in the warehouse. Apart from the layout, PT. SPS also does not apply the FIFO concept. This is due to the absence of directives and an easy way to read data to differentiate jumbos with old and new production dates. In order to improve the application of FIFO, an evaluation is held every week to monitor jumbo shipments. Besides that, a warehouse stock appearance is modified by adding production dates and providing colour indicators to make it easier to distinguish old and new production dates. The new layout can reduce the moment by 8.7% or 59,906 meters/month. This is because customers who have high priority have a closer distance to I/O so that it will reduce the moment of material handling equipment.
