Abstract

The introduction of the characteristics possessed by coconut wood before further processing into a furniture for home stay is very important. Some coconut wood shortage that must be addressed is the coconut wood has a moisture content that is quite large, easily attacked by fungi or insects, prone to rupture and easily weathered fibers when exposed to water. Not only that, the selection of the proper construction and finishing are also factors that determine the quality of a furniture. Based on these characteristics, several steps were necessary to improve the quality of coconut wood. The home stay is where most of the community to spend time. In residences needed comfort and safety in use and take advantage of a furniture. The size and amount of furniture that aan placed in a chamber that is determined by the amount of space. That will be a discussion of the types of research that houses, furniture standard sizes for these types of homes, furniture formation as what is appropriate to the character of coconut wood, construction can be applied, until the appropriate finishing that can be used. While finishing the most appropriate is to use polyurethane, while not suitable for melamine melamine can close the wood fiber.

Abstract

Indoor Green Park Recreation Center is a place that provides facilities, namely indoor garden, so that visitors can relax, relieve fatigue from work, socialize, and get information about the plant. But hoe is that plants can be grown indoors? This sceme raised the concept Taste in Nature creates modern design with natural style that can provide information to visitors and a system that supports plants indoors. In Green Park Indoor Recreation Center also include some type of support facilities to support the convenience of visitors at Green Park Indoor Recreation Centre this. Support facilities include a souvenir shop, café, garden area, an indoor kids playground area, lobby.

Abstract

Resort is a hotel which is usually located outside the city , in the mountains , on the beach , at the edge of the lake or in the area where the vacation / recreation which provide facility to people who are on vacation in a relatively long period of time . Hotel Resort Pines Garden is a three-star hotel with 31 guest rooms that are close to the waterfall tourist rides Kakek Bodo . Interior design hotel resort Pines Garden aims to improve the image and quality of the hotel so as to increase the number of visitors (commercial). particularly attract the tourists who visit Tretes tourist areas , or for those who simply want a vacation / recreation. The design concept of " Warm Garden " combines elements of nature ( garden ) and modern feel of the room with warm (warm ) , according to the climatic conditions in Tretes cold . Application concept of taking wood materials representing rustic style with a predominance of brown color ( warm concept ) , as well as the use of the color green as accent and decorative elements of the garden , such as garden lights, fountains and greenery to represent the concept of garden. Expected with good interior design can provide new and different experiences for visitors / guests the hotel , and even raised the hotel s image in the eyes of the tourists / visitors .

Abstract

The convenience of mobility and the efficiency of work are greatly needed nowadays, thus, a lot of  companies are now starting from a home office. The work activities, along with another activities when people are not working have become a requirement to be fulfilled and obtained from a furniture. Generally, workstation furnitures only meet the work activities alone, meanwhile, the other activities aren’t being fulfilled. Therefore, a multi-functional furniture is needed in order to accommodate the working activities and another things as well. Forms and colors of the furniture must use universal colors in order to be one with the room related. Ergonomy and material standards are also influential in order to support the user working activities.

Abstract

As the number of landmass available keep decreasing, its rate now grows drastically, causing a huge amount of middle-class society being unable to purchase decent housing. This financial issue tends to embed a mindset in every individual’s mind that buying or building house permanently is an ineffective act. Thus, it will affect the building’s prestige as it is lowered and the aspects of a house are set aside. This statement can be proven by the fact that the resident’s incomes are quite low and the amount of money that can be allocated to purchase building materials are limited. Because of this, apartment’s purchasing rate has increased, especially those with low prices. With limited budget, residents are having a hard time to purchase high quality furniture. Based on that fact alone, a concept of compact and multifunctional furniture capable of fulfilling residents and user’s needs are greatly needed. This concept is refered as “Neutral Chameleon” where furnitures had to reach several qualities such as, economical and ergonomically fulfilled but in the mean time capable of adapting to user’s current layout situation.

Abstract

St.Joseph’s Catholic Church Gedangan is the forerunner of the Catholic Church in Indonesia. This church is a relic of the Dutch colonial era, so it has historical value and unique both in terms of architecture and interior elements. In the interior elements of this church there is are synbols that are used. These symbols not only as form of aesthetics only, but has special meaning to be conveyed by the symbols on each part. To get the meanings embodied in symbols in this church, researchers used the basic theory of meaning by Roland Barthes. There are two meanings, which are denotation meaning and connotative meaning. Denotation meaning produces a discrption of an existing symbol, while conotative meaning generate meaning contained within symbol. The result showed that in each symbol with different placement have different meanings, and each symbol that is an expression of the faith of Catholic.

Abstract

The economy and infrastructure development in Surabaya have resulted the high activity and mobility of people. Everything is demanded to be fast, flexible, efficient, and productive. Various needs of people arouses between the activities, including the need of wedding preparation. By prioritizing the fulfillment of function in an oriental concept wedding, remembering the low availability of wedding facility with the oriental atmosphere. This place have a lot of facilities such as lobby, consultation room, gallery, and Meeting area. The concept of Wedding center is Wu Xing.There are five elements inside Wu Xing, wood, fire, land, steel, and water. If all element become one and achieved the balance, the outcome will be a good energy. This Wedding center can be alternate place for couple to prepare their wedding in oriental style.

Abstract

At the beginning of child’s birth, the most needed furniture is the baby crib, considering the baby’s main activity is also sleeping for almost 20 hours a day. The presence of baby crib isn’t just tofacilitate the baby’s sleeping activity, but also to support the safety level of the baby when they’re asleep. Along with the development of age , the body and also the development of the childs activity, the needs of furniture is increasing as well, corresponding with the activity done by the child.  Not just the crib, but also some other furniture too. This design is done in order to create an innovation of child’s crib furniture. The field survey results and some design ideas show that a baby crib can be developed furthermore if reviewed in terms of the value of the function and usage period contained within the object. By using several steps of method, such as data collection, data processing, data analysis, and the design itself, it is expected to reach a brand-new design of simple multifunctional furniture for children that can meet the requirements in accordance with the activity and development of the children that is easy to applied and can be adjusted to the needs.

Abstract

The reality today is that many people starting to really get into the photography world, varying from those who only wanted to try, following the trends, until those who really are serious and considering it to be a distinctive profession. Interests in the photography world nowadays are not well balanced with the sufficient knowledge about the photography itself, and it is indeed hard for the common people to acquire such information. And the fact is there is still no means available to accommodate their needs. The goal of this design is to give that means for people in Surabaya city, a place to gather together with those with common interests in photography, to share and to meet each other. The means of this interior design is recreative and commercial.

Abstract

Surabaya City is the second largest city that presents high prospects in trade and setting up businesses. Seen from the people’s lifestyle, especially in the matters of fashion which is a human basic need. Fashion grows in line with trend, nor among children. Children’s needs become a priority for parents, like their equipment, entertainment, and education so that increases the need of facilities provided for the children. Because of the absence of a retail which facilitates all the needs of children at the same time, this design aims to give facilities in shopping, playing and learning at once. Retail not only becomes a place for shopping but also to fulfill the need of new experience and the mood in entertainment and education that impacts positively on children development.
