Abstract

The existence of healthcare that can provide information about health education for children is needed, where they are less familiar and less know how to maintain the health of themselves. With the health facilities, the children will receive quality health care at the same time health information that can prevent children falling ill and maintain the health of themselves. The resulting design concept of the design method is inspired by the wonder health land formation Hobbit house or Hobbiton. The facility is equipped with inpatient services for children who undergo the examination. Design method used is problem of seeking and design thinking method for process design.

Abstract

In Indonesia, 87.18% of the people are Muslim, praying in the mosque at Dawn, Midday, Asar, Maghrib and Isha. In West Java where the highest percentage of Muslims in Java alives, there is a mosque with the concept of space and the lighting condition aiming to give the sense of Gods people, namely Al-Irsyad Mosque, Bandung. This study was conducted to determine the effect of natural and artificial lighting to the formation of the visual perception of the presence of God and prayer 5 time difference for people in the mosque space. Researchers hope this research can maximize the design of religious buildings of Muslims in Indonesia. This research was conducted using qualitative method which is to analyze the questionnaire data. The analysis shows that overall on the five prayer times, the majority of respondents agreed the room lighting can give effect to the formation of visual perception or impression of the presence of God during prayer in the Al-Irsyad Mosque. Age, gender, eye health, prayer time, lighting sources (natural and / or artificial) that is received, and the people sitting position affects the clarity of seeing the cleric, the impression will be the lighting in the room, the impression will be the contrast of light, which as a whole will affect the formation of people’s visual perceptions of Gods presence in praying.

Abstract

One of the many ways to improve the quality of Human Resource is to also improve our education quality. Children Day Care is a form of non-formal pre-school program with the basis focusing to physical and mental development such as character, behaviour, knowledge, soft skills, and creativity to provide the child enough provision to succeed later in life. The day care also function as a second family and home for a certain time in a day where parents have to work. The goal of the research is to gain data and descriptions of the applied interior elements in Angels n I Children Day Care & Learning Center Surabaya whether they suits the needs to optimize the children growth and development or not. The outcome of the research shows that the applied interior elements are enough to and suits the need to support the childrens growth.

Abstract

The phenomenon of the increasing number of homeless and beggars in Surabaya is a social welfare problem caused by the infrastructure that grows unevenly, which cause great migration from suburban to urban area, where not all people has enough ability or education. The “Harapan Baru” social parlors is designed as a shelter and training ground with a certain time span so they can learn and hopefully be equipped with something that can be used to get a good living. The concept used is “Ameliorate Gemstone” which means something will be valuable after being sharpened and going through several processes. That concept is applied through variety of rooms that use durable materials and able to answer all the resident needs, it also includes the nature elements like vertical garden, lighting system, and natural ventilation. This aims for energy and cost saving, as well as a learning for the occupant in processing scraps.

Abstract

One of the churches that chosen to be a subject of interior space research study is Bethany Indonesia Church Manyar branch in Surabaya which is the pioneer of Bethany Indonesia Church in Surabaya. The chosen research methodology is a descriptive methodology with a case study describing the detailed picture of interior in Bethany Indonesia Church Manyar branch Surabaya. This research focuses on the application of interior elements according to Vitruvius in the worship place in Bethany Indonesia Church Manyar branch Surabaya which is beauty (venustatis), durability (firmatis), and the usability/functionality (utilitas) that become the interior system because including the entirety of interior. The researched interior design study includes layout, elements in interior. The findings of the research shows that function as a requirement to fulfill the creation of specific space atmosphere and in the aim has been applied in this church except in the security aspect. Whereas the durability aspect as the interior power that can be reviewed from the material use also applied well even though some minor weaknesses still exist, furthermore the venustatis aspect which includes the design elements such as line, shape, color and texture have been applied well and result in a dynamic, strong and balance impression, but if it relates to the design principal such as proportion, unity, harmony and focal point, not all have been applied well in Bethany Indonesia Church Manyar branch.

Abstract

In this modern era, Indonesia has a fairly low reading interest and left behind compared to Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore. Modern age demands make humans need to have extensive knowledge. The library is one of the centers of accurate and effective information, but most of the people today rely more on information and knowledge from the internet.  This is because the condition of the city library in Surabaya are uncomfortable and cant support reading activities. Therefore, in designing the interior of this library, the library is designed with homey design concept that has meaning simple, cozy and home-like atmosphere. There was also a facility to be made include the lobby, reception, book-lending area, adult and childrens reading area, display books, computer area and wireless internet (Wi-Fi), stationary area, the cashier area, an office area and a cafe. The designer believes by applying this design concept that has this advantages and facilities, this will increase interest in reading and make the library as a primary means of supporting the people reading activity, especially in Surabaya.

Abstract

Boarding houses are unarguably most favourite place to stay for settled foreigners. For married couples with children, staying in boarding house means that they are in a very tight budget, usually caused by a high economic demands. When a family stay together in one room, the needs of efficient room facilities are high. One of the needs is furniture, it becomes the focus of the problem towards the complexity of the activities happening faced by the whole-family dwellers. The number of the occupants are too high compared to the space available. This issue then results to the lack of moving space, dirty looking room, and negative health and psychological effect to the user. According to the analysis of the survey data, there are three furniture facilities the user needs, i.e. storage facility, work facility (table/surfaces), and sitting facility (to support the work facility). Then the goal of this design is to integrate those three facilites into one furniture. The designed container cabinet becomes the furniture that fulfills the three facilities in terms of functionality and shape, because this furniture have the ideal dimensions to be transformed and according to survery most of occupants in boarding houses have some kind of furniture that resembles container cabinet. Designed using cheap materials, simple joints, and simple usage mechanism, this furniture will be the right solution to solve the existing problem. A furniture that are compact in size, designed with recycled materials (like rattan, refunction pallet, and coconut timber), and have 3-in-1 functions might just become the right innovation for boarding house space problem.

Abstract

Nowadays, four-wheeled vehicle with the brand of Mitsubishi are not that well known to people of Samarinda. Two of the main reasons are, there are many other brands that are more popular than Mitsubishi and also the dull interior design of the showroom. Those issues then heavily affect the showroom sales of Mitsubishi. To overcome this issue, an intriguing design for the showroom is needed for Mitsubishi to make the brand stands out from its competitors.This showroom interior design of Mitsubishi in Samarinda presents the modern contemporary style composed with a “Fun and Cozy” concept that will make the showroom gives a distinguished impression and unique characteristic to customers in Samarinda. The use of natural materials will add to the modern contemporary style and also to help make the users, mainly customers and staffs, to feel extra comfortable during their visits and working hours.The design process of the showroom starts with the programming phase that includes the field data gathered from surveys and interview with the owner of the showroom. Then next is the making of design schematic, and finished with the final design phase.

Abstract

Dementia is a disease that is commonly experienced by elderly, especially women. It is also known as Alzheimer or senile disease. Some people take this condition as a natural thing and underestimate it. In fact, dementia is one of the most severe diseases because the sufferer can forget about literally everything, including the way to speak and pronounce words. This design aims to facilitate dementia sufferer with therapy. The main concept of this design is to provide the patients with peace of mind, aiming at making the patients feel more comfortable and providing them with a fighting spirit. The colors and material are warm colors and natural materials, such as woods, natural stones, and bamboo to represent the tropical atmosphere. The design needs to be as simple as possible in order to make the patients feel like they belong there.

Abstract

This study is accomplished to reveal the efforts of efficiency and energy conservation in East Campus/P Building of Petra Christian University. Energy crisis is the background of this study. The high energy demand in Indonesia is not compensated by enough energy supplies. Furthermore, nearly all of energy supplies in Indonesia is produced from non-renewable resources.One of the high-rise buildings that is fitting to be studied is the East Campus/P Building of Petra Christian University. Energy efficient innovations were applied to the building to reduce the buildings energy consumption. The efforts done in P Building needs to be studied and published for public references, also for the improvement of both architecture and interior design specially in high-rise building. This will contribute largely to the efforts of saving the environment and energy saving.The study is done by collecting field data, then it is analyzed using GREENSHIP standards for interior published by Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI). The result is shown in points and percentage (%) for category of Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EEC). Then, using the result from analysis, conclusion and recommendations can be formulated for future development of energy efficiency in P Building.
