Abstract

Piazza Italia and Brandi Pizzeria are two of the Specialities Restaurants in Surabaya City, Eastern Java. Piazza Italia and Brandi Pizzeria are two restaurants that particularly serve Italian cuisine with Italian thematic interior design that fits the serving system. The goal of the research is to identify the characteristic of the interior that is applied to the restaurants. Theoretically, this research should be a useful addition to interior academic in terms of standards of interior characteristic in Italian restaurants and how to evaluate them. The atmosphere of the restaurant is built by its aesthetic aspects that are organized visually by means of layout, room-forming elements, room-transition elements, room-filling elements, decorative elements, and lighting systems. This aesthetic aspect is one unity of building and room that is analyzed using four basic theory by Francis D.K. Ching, i.e. functionality, shape, technical, and room theory. On the other hand, cuisine and serving system are analyzed using theories from Soekresno and Marsum. Methods of research used are descriptive analysis to parse the field data that helps the data analysis. The result of the research shows that the interior design application of both restaurants are different in terms of layout composition. Piazza Italia gives a familiar, romantic, and intimate atmosphere by Ala Carte table layout with Fine Dining concept, while Brandi Pizzeria gives the familiar, spacious, and laid-back atmosphere with casual table layout. Big conclusion acquired from this research is that the interior design applied in both Italian restaurant fits the standard of Specialities Restaurant that has thematic interior atmosphere that is adapted to the local condition, thus supporting the serving system of the restaurant. This can keep the quality of both restaurants to satisfy the needs of customers when enjoying the food and atmosphere of the interior applied in the restaurant.

Abstract

MINI is a small car produced by the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and its successors from 1959 until 2000. The original model of the car is considered as the icon of the British in the 1960s. The design concept in this design is "Branding in Perfection" which means that this concept carries the branding image as a concept, and perfection means we bring perfection in design in accordance with the philosophy of the meaning of the logo of MINI. The theme of the design is contemporary design, means the design style of the room is influenced by modern impression and always follows the latest design trend, but comfortable and functional as well.

Abstract

Learning facilities is one of some means which are very needed by every university and faculties, especially at Petra Christian University. But mostly every facilities which provided by Petra Christian University is inadequate and less supportive for students activities and also for department for academic activities. The required facilities are design studio which support another supporting facilities. The activities undertaken are studying, designing, drawing, and assistance. Designing the studio facilities are based on learning experience, survey and location observation, interview, and location analysis that will be used, looking for design concept solution by making the prototype.Studio facilities are designed to fulfil students needs, and also creating an efficience and productive learning environment. Designing studio facilities is a one of the ways to fulfill Petra Christian Univerity students needs, in order to make them more comfortable in learning.

Abstract

The advanced development of music makes the musician do the same thing. The music store nowadays already answered every needs, but there’s no music store which become the center where every music instrument are provide there. This music center is a design that has never existed before in Indonesia, where the design includes a complete music equipment sales according to each classification, and also a facility for musician and non-musician to gather and learn together about music. Abstract

Religion is considered as one of the basic needs in today's modern world living. Basic human needs nowadays are in fostering, enhancing, and developing the mental, spiritual state of the mind that can be found in the Church. The church is a building where Christians do worship, one of which is in the Indonesian Bethel Church, especially in the Perumnas area of Mojosongo, Jebres, Surakarta. The Church building is not only used to fulfill human spiritual needs, but is also used for academic purposes. Hence, in order to maximize the function of the building, it requires interior products and decorative elements which of course are based on the ergonomics that will provide comfort and support the people who are carrying out activities in the building.

Abstract

Internet cafes in Surabaya are designed only to play and lack a gathering place. There are many internet cafe designs in Surabaya that are economically designed because the target visitors are children and teenager and this have resulted in the fact that existing cafe designs are not attractive and have no themes. From these problems a Game Cafe is created with facilities for gathering and playing. To help gamers gather and socialize with other gamers, the design based on game themes could make gamers comfortable. The method used for the design process is design thinking, starting with understanding, observing, point of view, ideate, prototype, test and implementation. A gamer cafe design with themes from games can help attract young people. In terms of color, space organization, and furniture forms, they articulate two different sides according to the concept of online game play.

Abstract

The form of archipelago architectural dwelling has many values and meanings contained. This is because there is a relationship between meaning and space. The Manggarai community has a picture of occupancy that has enormous value and meaning. This is confirmed by the belief in spiritual values in the form of the ancestral grave (Compang) in the middle of the village. Graves are symbolic expressions of the existence of their ancestors. The method used in this study is qualitative by conducting observations, documentation and interviews. Then in analyzing the data, using a comparative method with other traditional occupancy but still in one cognate. Abstract

The W building canteen of Petra Christian University is one of the facilities that provide food and drinks for students, lecturers, guests, and others. Based on survey results, the problem in the canteen area of W building according to canteen users is that the tables and chairs lack comfort and users need a space to store goods or bags. Therefore, a furniture design is needed to solve problems through Kembel's five design methods consisting of empathize (steps to find problems), define (problem formulation process), ideate (design steps to answer the problem), define (problem formulation process), prototype (producing design outputs), and test (assessment of design results in answering the problems). Abstract

Along with the development of the era, the types of human needs have also increased. One of them is the human need to get health care. One health institution that provides health care is a hospital. In this study, three Mitra Keluarga hospitals in Surabaya were determined as samples with consideration of being in 3 different locations so that differences could be identified in the three hospitals. The study was conducted to find the typical characteristics and application of ideal standardization of the interior design of hospital lobbies. The theoretical approach used is the theory of interior design according to Francis D. K. Ching. The research method and data analysis used are descriptive qualitative, namely by describing in detail the data obtained from the documentation and direct observation to the location. The results showed that the three research objects had met a hospital's ideal standard both in terms of service and design aspects. Through the existing elements and design principles, the characteristics and atmosphere of space are formed which have affected users’ aesthetic visual comfort.

Abstract

The reality today is that many people starting to really get into the photography world, varying from those who only wanted to try, following the trends, until those who really are serious and considering it to be a distinctive profession. Interests in the photography world nowadays are not well balanced with the sufficient knowledge about the photography itself, and it is indeed hard for the common people to acquire such information. And the fact is there is still no means available to accommodate their needs. The goal of this design is to give that means for people in Surabaya city, a place to gather together with those with common interests in photography, to share and to meet each other. The means of this interior design is recreative and commercial.
