Abstract

Surabaya, capital of East Java, is a place where the legendary battle between a shark (sura) and crocodile (baya) happened. Surabaya has a population of approximately 3 million people with various activities that make Surabaya is a city that never deserted. Various activities were held in Surabaya, which can be visited by the public, especially for families and relatives. One of them is the water games loved by everyone without age limit as an option to spend time with family. The purpose of this design is to provide recreational facilities or water games in Surabaya, surrounded by areas that are fun and offer a tropical feel. This design will give some advantages; such as Surabaya’s people don’t need to travel far away to find family entertainment, and also it will help increase the enthusiasm of people outside to visit Surabaya. The design method used the analytical method, where each thing in the design stage constantly reanalyzed by the study of a particular method. It refers to a design methodology (Jones, 1970) as the formulation of so-called "think before drawing" ("thinking before drawing"). The concept of “Tropical Paradise” becomes the base of this design with a natural inspiration as its characteristics.

Abstract

Library in Palopo, South of Sulawesi in general builded by government that looking for information and gives knowledge and kind of services that must have general character. In other word it provides some of information and give services to all People in Palopo. So, Library Interior Design has important thing in library design development. But, just a few library that willing to collect the fund for interior design development, much of them move to additional collection. When a good interior design , cause the library visitor feels comfortable, safe and productive.

Abstract

Malang City has good prospect in the culinary fields such as cafes and salon, because the consumptive lifestyle as become a trend in Malang City. Cafe  is often used as a place to gather and meet the culinary needs, while salon is often used as a place to let saturation off and body pampering. These perspectives brings Malang into a need of a space to fulfill consumer consumptive pattern and to release saturation in Malang City. This design uses the concept of "Care and Relax". The aim of this concept is to create a space needed by the people which is a place that provides comfortable, serene and relax interior for the people inside. This concept also functions to give warm athmosphere. The application of care in the design is by proximity, protection, openess, and attention while the application of relax in the design is by calmness, roomy and light.

Abstract

One of interior designer’s role in addressing environmental issues is applying eco-interior approach to the design concept. Application of eco-interior is necessary to instill environmentally responsible attitude. In addition, the application of eco-interior can help create a healthy, environmentally friendly space, and increase comfort and productivity. The aspects of eco-interiors include energy conservation, water conservation, indoor air quality, and material selections will serve as the analysis’ benchmark in this research. Restoran Merah Putih was chosen as the object of research because it has applied the principle of environmentally friendly to the building, both in terms of exterior and interior. This research aims to determine the application of the eco-interior aspects of Restoran Merah Putih building in Bali. The research method used is qualitative approach with descriptive analysis method. The result of this research is Restoran Merah Putih has applied the eco-interior aspect maximally to the effort of energy conservation and water conservation. The use of natural lighting has been maximized throughout the day in every area of the restaurant, and uses energy-efficient artificial lighting at night. In aspect of water conservation, the restaurant has implemented rainwater storage and waste-water treatment. While on the aspect of indoor air quality and material selections still not optimally applied in restaurant areas, such as lack of ventilation as well as materials and finishing on the interior elements (floor, wall, ceiling), furniture, nor decorative elements that are not entirirely environmentally friendly.

Abstract

Problems that become the background of this design is because the people of Surabaya are less familiar with the existence of the mangrove ecosystem and the development of product’s potential by local SME’s in Surabaya. On the other hand, it is also due to inaccessibility and inadequate space to support these activities. The purpose of this design is to provide an alternative space to gather and introduce to the millennial generation to understand and experiment with the mangrove potential through educative, recreational, interactive, and local content approach, as well as the welfare of mangrove community. The design method used is the Disney method, which consists of 4 stages, which is spectator view, dreamers view, realists view, and critics view. The design result is a Mangrove Edu-Tourism Centre with the concept of Bound to Nature, with facilities include an open space lake, food stall, information and waiting area, SME product gallery, workshop studio, cultivation studio, staff room, lounge area, conservatory dome, sightseeing deck and teahouse. The author hopes that this design could provide solutions as well as being a global community space, with a micro efforts leads to a macro effects to help manage and save the mangrove environment in Surabaya.

Abstract

The design of Facilities Center for Bonek Community in Surabaya is aimed to raise the positive image of Bonek. The place will be a Bonek Community Center which form a social network that connects between Bonek community, other community, Persebaya club, Surabaya’s people, and visitors from outside Surabaya. So by the existence of this facility center that facilitate and lifting positive activities that done by Bonek community, can change people's perception towards this community become better and more positive. This design accommodates all information about the history of Persebaya club and Bonek community itself. The information packaged in informative, educative, and recreational way so the visitors can get new experience and new positive mindset towards Bonek community. Bonek Community Information Center has some facilities such as information center, gathering space, food corner, temporary exhibition area, radio broadcast room, merchandise store, graphic workshop, murals workshop, and press conference area.

Abstract

In recent years, it is seen that the increase in the number of retail turnover in the business of power tools and building materials is growing rapidly, which is also supported by the growing number of human needs and desires of getting instant. In reality, there are still at least businessman retail stores, who realized that the role of interior design in retail store design and display facilities (storefront) is a very important role to be a major attraction for visitors. Therefore, there arises a sense realized display facilities in retail stores also has a crucial and responsible in attracting consumers to sign in and shop in a store. One way to attract the attention of consumers is a wide - range, ranging from attractive display facility, also adjust the layout of the product as well as the furniture in the store. As a basic, the design process will begin by finding the background of the problem, look for the formulation of the problem, making the goal of designing, analyzing field data and observations, and  continued in later stages of the design process concludes with prototypesThis design has 3 sets of selection for some categories of products, namely, products power tools, pumps, and building materials. Construction systems that applied to this product is a multifunctional system and folding system that will focus on the function and aesthetics in its use. In addition, this product can also be easily moved and used for some commercial purposes such as exhibitions or particular event.

Abstract

One of the churches that chosen to be a subject of interior space research study is Bethany Indonesia Church Manyar branch in Surabaya which is the pioneer of Bethany Indonesia Church in Surabaya. The chosen research methodology is a descriptive methodology with a case study describing the detailed picture of interior in Bethany Indonesia Church Manyar branch Surabaya. This research focuses on the application of interior elements according to Vitruvius in the worship place in Bethany Indonesia Church Manyar branch Surabaya which is beauty (venustatis), durability (firmatis), and the usability/functionality (utilitas) that become the interior system because including the entirety of interior. The researched interior design study includes layout, elements in interior. The findings of the research shows that function as a requirement to fulfill the creation of specific space atmosphere and in the aim has been applied in this church except in the security aspect. Whereas the durability aspect as the interior power that can be reviewed from the material use also applied well even though some minor weaknesses still exist, furthermore the venustatis aspect which includes the design elements such as line, shape, color and texture have been applied well and result in a dynamic, strong and balance impression, but if it relates to the design principal such as proportion, unity, harmony and focal point, not all have been applied well in Bethany Indonesia Church Manyar branch.

Abstract

Due to the increasing price of land, the number of people who choose to live in the small houses, vertical housing such as apartments, flats and home office are also rising to provide their need for a place to live, thus it became one of the solution for the problem. With a limited living space and yet so many activities and needs, residents of small living space often experience problems of limited land and space condition. Therefore, a multifunctional furniture design that can accommodate several different activities will be needed, and one of them is a multifunctional table that can be used for makeup, read, write, use laptop and storage.

Abstract

Interior Education Center Fashion in Samarinda City aims to find education center of fashion that can complete student’s facilities, finding educational center of fashion that produces interior design educational, informative, and presentative, find educational center of fashion which can show elements of Indonesian culture, discover fashion education center that can attract people in Samarinda. The expected benefits of this research is for the public forum for people who have become fashion designers, facilities can increase insight into fashion both for students and the community in the form of libraries, information centers, galleries clothing, fashion show.The a dvantages for the author of this research is to increase the knowledge and experience of how to study fashion education center and is able to improve the capability and mindset of a interior. The methods used are design thinking method of Bryan Lawson his book entitled How Designer Think Fourth passing through three phases: intention, aspiration phase, and stage practices. There are three stages of data collection in design thinking method as to perform data collection, analysis design, programming, concept design, schematic design, to the final product of the design.
