Abstract

Schizophrenia is one of the phenomena that deviate from a person who lost a sense of reality that happened at productive age with different causes. Every year the numbers of patients always increase and place for the patients continues to decrease. There is a solution for the patients, maximizing the therapy process by creating an atmosphere around the environment, which patients needed. Responding to that solution, Interior function can be the one kind of therapy, which indirectly affects the healing process. It is also a concern for schizophrenia people who deserve to be given the same facilities like other people. This design based on interior psychology approach and the effect against psychology of the patients. Healing garden is one of the designs that is used for healing. The facilities which given are works therapy facilities like batik, sewing, painting, music, sports, counseling, and gallery.

Abstract

Starting from the idea of building a bussiness based on creativity using surabaya’s local potention. Handmade leathergoods is now being a concept for the new economic growth in this modern era that creating awareness to support this kind of creativity. Retail shop is needed to gain the sales and same thing go for a workshop to facilitate training for the leathercrafter. This design focused on  the standartisation of the interior that being a part from the branding of the product itself like the furniture, lightning, and the room settings will give a direct impact in the process of creating leathergoods. Sevier industry is a facility for people to introduce leathergoods, give inspiration for them, and being a source of leathergoods knowladge that shows the area of education applicated to gallery and workshop area. Fresh monochrome concept will used in the commercial and the longe of the leathergoods store that inspired by industrial style design to applicated in each of every corner of the area.

Abstract

Kediri is a city affected by mataraman culture. It can be observed from the kejawen belief that is still embraced by the Java community in Kediri, for example is the people who live in the village of Sumberbendo, Semanding, and Pehwetan. Kejawen belief is closely related to the concept of macapat mancalima, there is always be a central which coordinate everything. The main goal of this belief is to get the balance. Kejawen's beliefs become a cornerstone of life for the Javanese who live in these villages. Trust is also expressed through their occupancy, for example in terms of space organization, residential expansion, zoning, and also the hierarchy of space (sacred-profane). The research method used is descriptive qualitative research with ethnography approach. This study were taken ten samples consisting of three districts in Kediri namely, district Pare (Sumberbendo Village), Pagu (Semanding Village), and Papar (Pehwetan Village).                There is a strong relationship between the beliefs and the dwelling of Javanese community in Kediri East Java, especially in the three villages that become the research sample. Embodied through ritual activity and life cycle that occurs in the omah. All rituals carried out by Sumberbendo, Semanding, and Pehwetan communities are closely related to obtaining salvation and tranquility which means the balance between man and God, man with nature, man with other human beings, and man with himself. Omah is a container to perform these four principles of trust.

Abstract

Cake is one of the popular dessert which is loved by most people, regardless of age. Cake Shop and Café, is one of the place that facilitate the needs of the community. However, in this globalization era, custom cake is more favored by the people. The cake that just traded in mediocre, can lose interest so this business becomes less developed. So, based on that facts, “Do It Yourself” Cake Shop and Café is designed in Surabaya as a form of reaction to respond the demands of society in this era. The problem in this design can be solved by the application of the concept of fun and togetherness, because this facility provides a pleasant atmosphere and foster the spirit of togetherness. The design is processed using the method of literature, interview, and documentation. The data that has been collected were analyzed with descriptive and comparative method, and simple statistics, because this research is included with quantitative data, related to some elements of interior design. This design is provided with conventional cake trade, recreational facility to decorate their own cake, relaxation and education facility such as baking class, seminar area and exhibition area.

Abstract

People with Disabilities (PwD) are those with different physical, cognitive, mental, or emotional abilities. As stated in Indonesian Act no. 8 of 2016 that every disabled person has the rights in all aspects of life including tourism. The number of PwD is increasing in Indonesia, but it is not balanced with the availability of accessible public buildings. One of the public buildings that was highlighted is hotel, as a public accommodation facility in the city. The number of disabled friendly hotels in Indonesia is very low according to survey results by agoda.com. In the problem solving process, universal-inclusive design principles and accessible design standards are used as design concept. The universal design principles are applied in all aspect of design considerations to create an accessible and universal hotel. Design is limited and focused on the areas or facilites for hotel guests as a users and the hotel building is located in Surabaya. From the design result, it can be concluded that the principles of universal and inclusive design is the only solution in realizing an accessible hotel design. It is hoped that this design will become information and ispiration for interior design practitioners about the importance of universal-inclusive design that will help in improving the PwD’s prosperity now and in the future.

Abstract

Cancer is one of the chronic diseases that can affects anyone including children. According to the data of Palliative Development Center and Pain Free department RSUD Dr. Soetomo-Faculty of Medicine Airlangga University, the number of pediatric patients in Surabaya has reached 744 person in 2011 and increases up to 10 until 20 percent annually. Unfortunately, Surabaya does not have any appropriate healthcare facilities which support treatment for children. The problem drives the author to design a better pediatric cancer rehabilitation center in Surabaya in terms of facilities that support psychological treatment as well as a temporary residence for every children along with their family. The facilities will also apply healing environment and family-centered care design that will be realized through the design concepts. Some of the facilities provided are learning facilities, playground and temporary residence. Both of the aspects will works in harmony in the design for pediatric cancer rehabilitation center in Surabaya.

Abstract

The existence of healthcare that can provide information about health education for children is needed, where they are less familiar and less know how to maintain the health of themselves. With the health facilities, the children will receive quality health care at the same time health information that can prevent children falling ill and maintain the health of themselves. The resulting design concept of the design method is inspired by the wonder health land formation Hobbit house or Hobbiton. The facility is equipped with inpatient services for children who undergo the examination. Design method used is problem of seeking and design thinking method for process design.

Abstract

Surabaya is the capital of East Java province that has unique culture and art. Arts such as ludruk, ketoprak, kentrung, wayang wong, janger and darmawulan become famous nowadays. The East Java theater building in Surabaya needs a design that attracts public to watch art performances. By applying a design that has a not-too-large capacity, it is expected to be an appropriate facility for the show and the audience. The design problem is how to design a theater that applies modern technology to invite the public appreciating the theater art, especially young people.The method used is the stages of design thinking including understanding, observe, point of view, ideate, prototype, test, implementation. Theater design with a touch of technology is expected to attract young people. The technology is an interactive floor used on stage. The screen on the floor can move when the sensor catches motion. In the lobby, there are information facilities about ludruk art and others.

Abstract

Ecological approach in the planning and building design requirements that should be met by the perpetrators of physical development. Hotel is one example of a physical building. Now, the hotel concept "budget" became a new phenomenon for the city of Aberdeen. According to the government regulation number PM.53 / HM.001 / mpek / 2013 article 2, the standard business hotel aims to provide protection, either for safety, health, comfort, safety and convenience and environmental preservation. This study aims to raise awareness of the designer budget hotel, knowing the performance space at budget hotels and know the concept design budget hotel that is economical and healthy for users and the environment. This research method using qualitative methods, to discuss aspects and parameters proposed by Kusumarini (2007). The object of research using three hotels, namely Best Inn hotel, Mirama, Mutiara Indah. Results of the analysis showed that the performance space at a budget hotel in London has been quite good and there are ecological efforts on several aspects. The drawback is the water sanitation and waste management has not been a particular concern. The designer budget hotel building role in the implementation of eco-interior to form a pattern of healthy life.

Abstract

Artists want to show art works and expression to the public. The goal is to interact and to convey the aspirations of the community. Growing Arts communities in Surabaya was not balanced by adequate space facilities. As a result, the development of the arts in particular in the field of fine art was not well appreciated by society can. The design of this art space using the case study Serbuk Kayu Communities. Serbuk Kayu community is one of the fine arts community in Surabaya. Serbuk Kayu has different fields of art group artists among others such as murals, xylography, painting, installation, video art, performance Art, literature, music, and more. This design concept is the idea of Art Education Serbuk Kayu Community are in line with the vision and mission Serbuk Kayu which is "Distribution Knowledge of Art". The frame of the concept is divided into 7 parts are based on activity, user, artifacts, form, function, time and economy. The purpose of this design is to accommodate and facilitate the activities of the arts for artists, collectors, art lovers, tourists and the public in the city of Surabaya. Stages in the design process design use of Zeisel include Basic E-B Knowledge: Theory; Images; And so on - Programming Research - Design and Design Review - Construction - Use + Adaptation.
