Abstract

Along with the development of information and internet, many people feel bored working in the office and a lot of them choose to work flexibly. Flexibility in work place causes offices that have facilities such as co-working space are more in demand today. High economic needs made both parents work formally and or informally. The rush of both made it difficult for them to divide their time to work and also look after their children. Therefore, we need an interior coworking space with day care facilities as a solution to overcome the difficulties experienced by parents. The method used is design thinking method with stages including literature studies, field observation, analysis, schematics and 3D modeling. The design concept chosen is Fun and Socialize with the goal to increase productivity and relationships between users. This concept is applied in the use of colors and space’s zoning-grouping. This design project involves adult and child users in their activities supported by day care, lobby, locker, gaming area, meeting rooms, and staff-office. Colors used in the design are blue, orange, and yellow. Orange and yellow are used to balance the color blue which has calm psychological effect.

Abstract

Hip hop is no longer an unfamiliar word to hear in this modern era. Although there are already many facilities built for hip hop dancers in Indonesia, only few of them suit their needs. There is also a bad image associated with hip hop culture, specifically hip hop dancers. It is because they are known as rebel and low educated people. Based on the problems, interior design of HOP Squad community base camp will emphasize on those two aspects. They are the aspect of dancers urgency and the aspect of re-branding of hip hop image in society. This facility will provide facilities to rehearse, produce, and learn for dancers. It also can be a living gallery which can re-brand the hip hop image in society.

The method used in this design process is a design thinking development, HPI School of Design Thinking, by adding an implementation method to create innovation and excellence value in a design. The step of design thinking are Understanding, Observation, Point of View, Ideation, Prototype, Test, and Implementation. The result of this design is an art and cultural center of Bojonegoro with Monggo Pinarak concept which applies the legend, art and culture of Bojonegoro. West Seram people have rich in meaning Baileu. Belief in ancestors has an important role to determine the meaning of space in Baileu on West Seram Island. Theory approaches used is field cosmological primordial from Koentjaraningrat and Jakob Sumardjo. The research method and analysis used was triangulation, which check and correct obtained data or information from different varieties and perspectives to reduce as much bias as possible during the data analysis. The analysis result show that the meaning of space is inseperable from human activity. It’s because space was formed from experience of human senses which created perception and thoughts. Abstract

People with different abilities are often considered unequal and therefore do not have the same rights so they have always been marginalized in various aspects of people's lives. In the context of the arts, non-disable people only see the works of disabled based on compassion without constructive criticism. The mayor of Surabaya, Mrs. Tri Rismaharini committed to provide spaces for art performers centered at Hi-Tech Mall Surabaya. The design of this contemporary art gallery by people with disabilities is a form to fulfill the rights of the disables and at the same time responding to one of Mrs.Risma's hope.  The gallery, which has the main function as a communication tool between artists with collectors and the community, is considered as the right place to show the artistic talents of people with disabilities to get proper appreciation, especially from those who are non-disabled. In the design, the method used is Design Thinking which consists of 3 main stages, Understand, Explore, and Materialize. The concept of the design is a public facility that can accommodate the development of diffable artworks with 3 main focuses, Experience, Educate and Appreciate. Gallery design as a public facility should prioritize accessibility aspects for various users so that universal design principles are applied with all considerations in design.

Abstract

Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises (MSME) have a huge contribution in economic improvement. This fact needs to be supported with real actions from many parties to develop the existing MSME. One thing that we can do to help them is by giving them alternative business space. Using unused containers is one of the alternatives that can be used as business space. Surabaya is a harbor city that have a lot of unused containers. Therefore, unused containers are easily obtained and by using it, we can reduce the piled-up containers. Container itself have some benefits, it can be easily moved and has a strong construction and material that can be re-function to become a business space. The method that is used to realize it, is “design thinking” which includes understand, observe, point of view, ideate, prototype, test and implementation. We expect that the design of commercial space modules for food and beverages facilities can be an alternative business space for MSMEs or prospective entrepreneurs who want to start a new business. This commercial space module, especially in food and beverages’ area, give some benefits for the user, it help the brand to be easily known, more reachable, and increase their profit.

Abstract

In this design, the designer wants to find alternative designs in making table sets with different constructions. One alternative construction is folding construction because the rapid growth of population makes land for housing become narrow and expensive, therefore middle to lower society prefer small home such as apartment. Seeing the situation, the designer wants to design a furniture that uses folding construction to cope with places with limited occupancy space, the designer began to search for information related with folding furniture, such as advantages, disadvantages, how to process and so on. With the information, the designer began to make design concepts, and the concept resulted in a multifunctional table set design with folding construction that could answer the existing design problems.
