Abstract

It is important to pay attention to parenting patterns as this is a fundamental aspect of child development. The family, especially the role of both parents, serves as the primary environment where a child gains a lot of learning experiences. This research is conducted based on field facts that indicate the ongoing tendency of authoritarian parenting styles by parents towards young children. Four parents are the subjects of this study. Authoritarian parenting patterns are evident when parents teach children about prayer, recitation of the Quran, memorization, as well as guiding them in learning to read and write. The purpose of this research is to investigate the impact of authoritarian parenting styles on young children, based on four observed cases. The research method applied is qualitative, using a case study approach, and Urie Brofenbrenner's ecological theory is applied as an analytical tool. The research findings conclude that authoritarian parenting patterns can have both negative and positive impacts. The negative impacts include a lack of independence in children, aggressive behavior, defiance towards parents, a lack of self-confidence, and an inability to express opinions. On the other hand, the positive impacts involve discipline and the achievement of children. Despite the presence of positive impacts, the application of authoritarian parenting styles is not recommended for young children, considering the potential negative effects on children's self-esteem.

Abstract

The development of student competencies in higher education is not only focused on hard skills in the form of academic abilities, but also soft skills and life skills, one of which is the ability to socialize and collaborate with the environment. To establish good relationships so that social conflict does not occur, students must be able to be adaptive and develop a ta'awun attitude or what we usually interpret as a cooperative attitude. The aim of this research is to develop a ta'awun attitude through behavior modification by strengthening contracts. The research method uses an experiment with a "non-equivalent group pretest-posttest control design". The sample in this research came from FKIP UNISRI students who were taken using purposive sampling technique. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon Test with the SPSS application.  The significance value of the experimental group is 0.005 < 0.05, so Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning that there is a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores for the ta'awun attitude of the experimental group due to behavior modification treatment with contract reinforcement. The significance value for the control group was 0.357 > 0.05. This means that there is no difference in the pretest and posttest scores for Ta'awun attitudes in the control group. Meanwhile, the significance value of increasing Ta'awun between the experimental group and the control group is 0.005 <0.05 with a Z value of -2.814, which shows a significant difference between the two. From these results it is concluded that behavior modification by strengthening contracts is effective in developing Ta'awun attitudes

Abstract

This research investigates how Sufi psychospiritual practices function as an Islamic counseling approach to improve the spiritual well-being of students in Pesantren. Focused on three Pesantren in Salatiga, Central Java, where students are deeply involved with Islamic teachings, this research aims to understand the contribution of these practices in shaping students' spiritual well-being across four domains, namely personal, communal, environmental, and transcendental, as outlined by Fisher's theory. Sufi Psychospiritual Therapy aims to assist individuals in achieving spiritual growth, emphasizing repentance, asceticism, patience, and trust (redha). Utilizing qualitative research methods, including observation, interviews, and documentation, data were collected and analyzed following the model of Miles et al. Research findings reveal the significant impact of Sufi psychospiritual therapy on the spiritual well-being of students in selected Pesantren. Students report feeling calmer, gaining clarity about life goals, and outlining steps to achieve them. This underscores the effectiveness of integrating Sufi practices into counseling to encourage holistic student development in Pesantren. In essence, this research emphasizes the importance of recognizing and utilizing the spiritual aspects of student well-being in Pesantren and demonstrates how Sufi psychospiritual practices can positively influence students' overall growth in this context. Further research is recommended with a larger and more diverse sample, incorporating quantitative methods to offer a more comprehensive understanding of how Sufi psychospiritual practices impact the spiritual well-being of students in Pesantren.
