Abstract

Observation on transient behavior is crucial because from this stuty we are able tocomprehend major parameters possessed by various electrical and electronic appliances.For this purpose of observation, appropriate measuring instruments/ equipments arenecessary. Sometimes it is difficult in realizing the expected observation. In many cases,transient behavior can improve the performance and efficiency of electrical devices; while insome other cases it may result in instability, or even failure in the system. By studying theresponses of RLC circuit, at least we can have some interpretation and explanation about thefundamental of transient bahavior in numerous electrical and electronic equipments. Thereare several parameters, which can be analyzed such as maximum voltage and time (peaktime tm and settling time ts), from the RLC circuits discussed in the next topic.Keywords: Transient, RLC circuits, peak time, settling time.

Abstract

A telecommunication cabinet usually uses a Direct Current fan with a Direct Current motor (DC motor) to make the cabinet temperature does not exceed the temperature that is allowed. Using a DC motor has weaknesses because it always rotates in full speed although the temperature in the cabinet gets down already. It causes inefficiency of the power consumption and the DC motor’s lifetime is not long enough.The prototype of DC motor speed controller controls the speed of a DC motor with the temperature environment as its reference. This circuit is built by a temperature sensor LM35, a microcontroller ATmega16 as the processor that analizes the input from the temperature sensor and relays. This prototype is equipped with a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) to display the temperature of the cabinet and the DC motor speed. After the prototype is assembled and tested, it is known that the circuit controls a DC motor speed according to the changes of the temperature that has been determined by the software program. The DC motor stops rotating if the temperature sensor senses the temperature below the minimum temperature level.Keywords: DC motor, temperature sensor, LCD, microcontroller

Abstract

Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is a genetic substance that brings heredity factor. DNA consistof four bases, which are adenine, timine, guanine, and citosine. Each base is symbolized byA, T, G, and C. There are coding and noncoding regions in DNA data. Coding region (calledexon) is a DNA region that’s useful to describe heredity factor. Many methods can be used todetermine coding region in DNA data, one of them is by using Discrete Fourier Transform(DFT). Simulation using DFT is performed by entering the algoritm similarities into Matlablanguage program. The purpose of simulation are to predict exon length, to get the value ofoptimized spectral and to get the value of exon total power spectral. Optimized spectral isuseful to identify exon position in DNA data. The results of simulation reveal that the totalpower spectral value of exon is proportional to N-point DFT value for each DNA sequenceand the optimized spectral value of DNA is also proportional to quantity of exon bases andexon length. Optimized spectral value reaches maximum for more quantity of exon bases andmore length of exon than when optimized spectral value reaches minimum.Keywords: deoxyribonucleic acid, exon, optimized spectral, total power spectral.

Abstract

This paper summarizes the main results of a study aimed to figure the specific distortion and several factors that decreased the distortion. Lightning performance were combined between the distortion cause by shielding failure and back flashover, it using electro-geometrical and traveling wave theory. The result shows that increasing effectivity of ground wire shielding where the lightning is hitting phase wire which is definite by shielding angle, and preventing back flashover with minimum tower foot resistance and increasing coupling factor between ground wire and phase wire. Abstract

CDMA merupakan suatu metode akses yang digunakan oleh teknologi komunikasi. CDMAmenggunakan teknologi spektrum tersebar. CDMA sekarang ini tidak hanya digunakanuntuk komunikasi suara saja, tetapi juga untuk data. Untuk itu TCP throughput memegangperanan penting dalam hal ini. Tetapi banyak pula masalah – masalah yang muncul, yangpaling serius adalah menurunnya performa throughput dan ketidaksamaan tiap throughputyang diterima user karena perbedaan yang mencolok dari koneksi RTT (Round Trip Times)yang dishare pada jaringan wireless yang sama.Telah banyak solusi yang diusulkan untukmeningkatkan performa TCP throughput, tetapi solusi-solusi tersebut tidak cocok untukjaringan wireless karena masih menghasilkan rugi-rugi transmisi. Pada paper ini, akandidemonstrasikan bahwa masalah ketidaksamarataan throughput dapat dipecahkan melaluimanajemen power (power control) yang sesuai. Secara khusus untuk mengatasi masalahtersebut, dalam paper ini akan coba diusulkan cara dengan membiarkan koneksi denganRTT yang lebih panjang dan dengan power yang lebih besar. Dengan begitu, solusi inidiharapkan dapat meningkatkan kesamarataan throughput tiap user. Evaluasi dari performaakan dilakukan dengan NS2 Simulator. Secara khusus, dapat dibandingkan dengan solusisolusistandard wireless CDMA, solusi ini dapat menjamin lebih baik throughput TCP yangdihasilkan dan keseimbangan throughput tersebut.Keywords: Sistem Komunikasi, Jaringan Informasi, Analytical and Numerical Simulation

Abstract

The very high necessity of information force the development of information technologyespecially internet. Nevertheless, POTS still cannot satisfy their customers. The main factorwhich cause this problem is the internet access speed limitedness. Besides the telephone calland internet access must be used by turns. MMA offers high speed internet access by usingADSL lite technology and ATM to support various of multimedia applications. MMA alsoenable to use internet access and telephone simultaneously without need new customers’line.As a service which offers high speed internet access, so in this paper some experimentsof MMA access speed have been done. Abstract

The quality of an electric power system is measured by its continuity of service, good controland maintenance. The good continuity of service can be obtained if all the components ofpower systems can operate well in every situation and condition, either in normal or inabnormal condition. In abnormal condition, the protection system has an important role indetecting every disturbance and disconnecting the disturbed parts from the system. Thepower transformer is the main component in a substation. The disturbances in thetransformer should be isolated so as not to disturb the system during distribution of theelectric power to other load. The differential relay on the power transformer is a protectionrelay to detect internal disturbance. This paper discusses the setting and mismatch error ofdifferential relay in substation of Central Duri at switchgear #3 at PT Chevron PacificIndonesia (PT CPI).Keywords: short circuit, differential relay, power transformer

This research showed that microstrip antenna can be worked at two different frequencies.This different frequency with low frequency ratio was required as its standard, such the thirdgeneration communications UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System). Abstract

Voice over IP (VoIP) technology enables the real time transmission of voice signals aspacketized data over IP networks that employ the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP),Real Time Transport Protocol (RTP), User Datagram Protocol (UDP), and InternetProtocol (IP) suite. In VoIP systems, analog voice signals are digitized and transmitted as astream of packets over a digital data network. IP networks allow each packet toindependently find the most efficient path to the intended destination, thereby best using thenetwork resources at any given instant. The packets associated with a single source may thustake many different paths to the destination in traversing the network, arriving with differentend to end delays, arriving out of sequence, or possibly not arriving at all. At the destination,however, the packets are reassembled and converted back into the original voicesignal.VoIP technology insures proper reconstruction of the voice signals, compensating forechoes made audible due to the end to end delay, for jitter and for dropped packets.Variation among VoIP products include the algorithms and implementations used to supportdynamic bandwidth allocation, packet loss recovery, adaptive echo cancellation and speechprocessing to deliver voice quality as high as possible.Keywords: Voice over IP (VoIP), gateway, Digital Signal Processing (DSP)

Abstract

High Capacity Base Transceiver Station (Hi-Cap BTS) is one kind of BTS which can hold increased traffic load rapidly because the numbers Trx at each sector can reach twelve Trx. Because of the fact, on the other hand the capacity of Hi-Cap BTS Trx are four times more than generally BTS. This paper discusses about the result and the analysis of Hi-Cap BTS implementation on BTS Muspasarseni with the first Trx configuration is 4/4/3 be modified to 8/6/3. This case uses four parameters such as traffic, Drop Call Rate (DCR), Handover Success Rate (HOSR) and Stand-alone Dedicated Control Channel (SDCCH) Success Rate (SDSR). Based on the analysis that has been performed, traffic rate at sector one, two and three are increased to 134%, 65%, 4% respectively. DCR rate at sector one, two and three are decreased to 54%, 39%, 18% respectively. HOSR rate at sector one, two and three are increased to 10%, 2,6%, 1,5% respectively. SDSR rate at sector one and two are increased to 2,3%, 2,8%, but SDSR rate at sector three is decreased to 1,2%. Keywords: BTS Hi-Cap, DCR, HOSR, SDSR
