Abstract

A good lighting system has to meet three criteria; quality and quantity of light and efficient powerconsumption. A good lighting room will help effective activities inside the room. To achieve an optimumlighting, natural light has to be considered in the installation design. Abstract

WDM technology has some advantages such as to enhance the network capacity, flexibility,and also has good prospect in the future (at international scale network of the undersea fiberoptics). Based on the advantages in serving the future telecommunication, new techniquecalled DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) has been applied in instrumentdesigned to serve dense traffic communication. With its product called Ericsson OpticalNetworking (ERIONTM), Ericsson has launched Errion Linier and Erion Flexing Bus. Thisinstrument could transmit 32 channels at same time at operated 0,8 nm channel grid at thirdwindow. Furthermore, it has equipped with traffic protection to solve some failures andmanagement control at operators overview to keep the best performance simultaneously.Keywords: WDM, DWDM, Optical Amplifier, EDFA, Channel Capacity, Digital CrossConnect (DXC).

Abstract

Harmonic (current or voltage) is one of the problems that has to be solved in electric powersystem, especially that caused by non-linear loads. Harmonic could cause bad impacts forthe electric components that sensed it. It is almost certain that using of fluorescent lamp withelectronic ballast or it is called energy saving lamp can cause harmonic in electric powersystem. Considering of the using of energy saving lamp is increased fairly fast as residenceand office lighting, so it is important to analyze and solve the harmonic that caused byenergy saving lamp. From the harmonic analysis, we can know the harmonic distortioncaused by energy saving lamp. And there are some efforts to reduce such harmonicdistortion by using a simple harmonic filter.Keyword: power quality, harmonic, harmonic filter.

Abstract

The indoor penetration manifested as macro cell system which is the extension of outdoorsignalling into indoor premises, can be implemented both by High Speed Downlink PacketAccess (HSDPA) and Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) as well in thearea of 3.5G related application. The significant parameters being used in this researchwere Effective Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP) and Received Signal Code Power (RSCP).The results showed that for data down linking operation the EIRP 58 dBm and the RSCP -69.94 dBm for WCDMA, while the EIRP 56 dBm and the RSCP -71.64 dBm for HSDPA.Furthermore, the drive test results showed for HSDPA running File Transfer Protocol (FTP)application the RSCP -92.2 dBm with throughput ≈2,0Mbps, while for running Hyper TextTransfer Protocol (HTTP) application the RSCP -95 dBm with throughput ≈1.9Mbps. Abstract

A squirrel cage induction motors are frequently used due to its merits such as strong andrigid construction, easy maintenance, low cost, and easy to get from the market. For everyconservation, induction motor is frequently used as a generator for the above reasons. Theoperation of motor as an induction generator needs reactive power. Reactive power can beobtained from the grid. If the induction generator separated or isolated from the grid,reactive power can be obtained from capacitor. Capacitor can be installed at the inductionmotor terminals. The capacitor value will determine the generator load. If the load isincreasing, the voltage will drop. From the experiment, we can determine the suitablecapacitor value for the load capacity provided by the induction generator.Keywords: energy conservation, reactive power, suitable capacitor value

Abstract

One of the cellular communication form is the data communication beside voicecommunication. Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) is a data communication which hascomplete features. This data/WAP communication might be a service in Wireless Local Loop(WLL) for the busy urban area. For example at Sudirman business area in Jakarta. If thecellular communication users in this area use this service actively it will increase the datacommunication traffic.To analyze the data/WAP communication traffic in urban WLL with DCS 1800technology we may use several analyses from the DCS 1800 itself and some simulation ofurban WLL area. They’ll give the illustration of the data/WAP communication trafficcapacity and the prediction about availability channel in an urban WLL using DCS 1800technology.There is a case study - the future prediction - which 202 data/WAP channels indemand. DCS 1800 technology could gives 55% of its 350 data/WAP channels while somerecent BTS have to increase 3 to 67 times of their 3 to 82 available data/WAP channels tohandle the case study’s demand. Recently, the data/WAP communication traffic is about 2%of the total communication traffic. It means that DCS 1800 provides just 21 data/WAPchannels of its 350 total data/WAP channels today.Keywords: cellular, communication, WAP, WLL, urban

Abstract

The best resulted of feedback control system design by using state variable feedback. But notall of the state variables feedbacks are available. The solution of this problem is useestimator. Through input and output measurements, then drive to estimator so can requiredoutput estimator near state variable.This paper presents the estimator design through artificial control model. So that todetermined the gain estimator and simulated using by software MALAB version 6.5. Abstract

Generally, an image consists of huge data which requires large capacity media storage. Then, if the image is going to be transmitted through telecommunication media, the transmission channel to be used must have large bandwidth. The increasing capacity and bandwidth of transmission channel cause data sending such as image with large data becomes inefficient. Compression process can be conducted to improve the efficiency in image sending process. Image compression is a process to reduce the bit used in representing an image. The purpose of compression process is to obtain image from reconstruction with smaller bit without reducing the quality of the original image. To handle it, an implementation of suitable image compression is needed and one of them is by using wavelet transformation. Simulation result shows that grey image reconstruction ”lena” is best for coif2 filter with PSNR score 38.6156, ”peppers” image is best for coif2 filter with PSNR score 41.8141 and ”coins” image is best for coif2 filter with PSNR score 40.6666. While the reconstruction image with ”wbarb” color is best for coif2 filter with PSNR score 37.2284, ”earth” image is best for coif2 filter with PSNR score 37.3550 and ”clown” image is best for coif2 filter with one level decomposition with PSNR score 37.5432.Keywords: Image, Wavelet, Compression, PSNR, Perf0
