Abstract

The purpose of this researchwasto findthe effect oftree leaves added into acassava biomass based ration on VFA concentration and in-vitro digestibility. This research used a randomized block design with 4 treatmentsand 3 groupsof replications. Feed treatment was composed by20% of cassava meal + 30% of cassava peel silage meal + 50% of leaf meal. P1was Manihot uttilissima leaf meal, P2was Gliricidia sepium leaf meal, P3was Moringa oleifera leaf meal and P4was Tectona grandis leaf meal. In-vitro incubation time was 48 hours in the syringe. The result showed that the value of gas production at hours12 hadsignificant differences(P<0.05) onthe treatments, with the highest values in P3. Gas production values ​​were significantlydifferent (P<0.01) at hours 24and 48. Theaveragedry matter digestibility (DMD)and in-vitro organic matter digestibility (OMD)was found the highest in P1 and P3. The highest VFA concentration was found in P3. The treatment had highlysignificanteffect (P<0.01) on the concentration of acetic acid (C2) andhad significant differences (P<0.05) on the concentrationofpropionic acid (C3),butyric acid (C4)and C2/C3 ratio. The concentration of CO2 and CH4 did not give significant differences (P>0.05). Theconclusion ofthis research was the addition of Manihot uttilissima leafmealand Moringa oleifera leaf meal was the best addition in cassava-based feedof that reviewedby in-vitro. Keywords: Cassava, in-vitro, gas production, leaf meal

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji kemungkinan peningkaian performan broiler and penurunan tingkat kematian dengan menggunakan tetracycline dan ekstrak daun sambiloto sebagai aditif pakan. One Way Completely Randomized Design dengan 9 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan digunakan untuk menguii: l). Pakan basal (P0), 2) Pakan dengan penombahan 0.1 % (PI), 0.2 % (P2), 0-3 % (P3)' 0.4 % tetracycline (P4), and j). Pakan dengan penambahan 0.1 % (P5), 0.2 % (P6), 0.3 % (P7) and 0.4 % (P8) ekstrak daun sambiloto. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan tidak secara signifikan (P>0.05) berpengaruh terhadap konsumsi pakan, pertambahan bobot badan, konversi pakan, angka mortalitas, IOFC, pH usus halus, glukosa darah, and berat empedu, pankreas and limpa. Akan tetapi, ada indikasi aditif pakan baik tetracycline maupun ekstrak daun sambiloto meningkatkan performan broiler dibandingkan kontrol. Level tetracycline 0.2%o dan ekstrak daun sambiloto 0.3% menunjukkan performan terbaik. Oleh karena itu, penambahan 0.3% ekstrak daun sambiloto dapat mengganti penggunaan tetracycline dalam pemeliharaan broiler. Penelitian lanjutan diperlukan guna menguji efektifitas ekstrak daun sambiloto terhadap kualitas karkas broiler

Abstract

The objective of this research was to observe the effect of betaine in feed to carcass, breast meat, thigh meat, abdominal fat, and meat cholesterol in Mojosari male ducks. The materials of this experiment were 144 male ducks which were maintained for 8 weeks. P0 was control treatment with no betaine were added, whereas P1 0.1%, P2  0.2%, P3 0.3% of betaine addition in the feed. The method used in this research was field experiments with 4 treatments and 6 replications. The parameters that measured in this research were carcass percentage, percentage of breast and thigh meat, abdominal fat, and breast cholesterol. Data were tabulated into MS. Excel and analyzed using ANOVA of Completely Randomized Design (CRD). If there were significant differences among the treatments, it will be tested by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. The result showed that addition of betaine had a significant effect (P<0.05) on carcass percentage, percentage of breast and thigh meat, but it didn’t has a significant effect (P>0.05) on cholesterol of breast meat and abdominal fat. The use of betaine in low methionine feed could improve carcass percentage, percentage of breast and thigh meat deposition, and lower abdominal fat percentage, but it has no effect on the cholesterol content of breast meat in Mojosari male ducks. The research concluded that 0.3% of betaine administration on feed was the best result for Mojosari male duck carcass quality, in terms of carcass percentage, the percentage of breast meat and thigh, and lower abdominal fat percentage. Keywords : Betaine, addition, low metionin, carcass, Mojosari duck

Abstract

The study aimed at analyzing the benefit of the national income and purchasing budget (APBN) in achieving livestock development program in East Java province and analyzing the contribution of APBN in the livestock development program in East Java. The results showed that the contribution of livestock sub-sector to the Product Domestic Regional Bruto (PDRB) of the agricultural sector in East Java province was relatively low (9.20-9.26%) as compared to other sub-sectors. In addition, the contribution of agricultural sector to the total of PDRB in East Java province was 17.44-17.22%. Although its contribution was relatively low, the APBN budget remained important to develop livestock sector in East Java province. Keywords: livestock development, East Java

Abstract

The aims of the research was to evaluate the digestibility in vitro of dry matter and organic matter, the contents of protein crude and contents of HCN in cassava peel which were treated by fermentation, ammoniation, and fermentation ammoniation (amofer). Materials used in this research were cassava peel, EM4, urea, bran, HCL pepsin, rumen goat’s liqour and Mc Dougall butter solution. Oven, analytical balance, pH meter, glass beaker tube of CO2 gas, water bath, funnels, tube fermentor, centrifuges, ovens and thermos were used as the research equipment. This research consisted of 4 treatments and 4 replicators, (T0: Control; T1: Ammoniation; T2: Fermentation and T3: Ammonation Fermentation (Amofer). Data were analyzed using completely randomized design (CRD) and were continued by Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The result of the research showed that dry matter content of T0, T1, T2 and T3 was 25.29, 50.69, 54.75 and 61.87% respectively. Organic matter digestibility contents of T0, T1, T2 and T3 was 23.52, 48.59, 2.62 and 61.87% respectively. Crude protein contents of T0, T1, T2 and T3 were 9.12, 22.28, 13.91 and 23,31% respectively. HCN content of T0, T1, T2 and T3 were 580.93, 3.10, 1.16 and 0.43 ppm respectively. The study showed that the treatment in T1, T2 and T3 had a significant effect (p>0.01) on dry matter and organic matter, crude protein and HCN. The conclusion of this research was that amofer treatment could increase dry matter and organic matter, crude protein and could reduce the levels of HCN in cassava peel. Keywords: cassava peel, ammoniation, fermentation and amofer

Abstract

ABSTRACT: The purpose of this research was to find out biogas production on national scale, Malang District, and one of the villages in Ngantang, Malang District. Besides, the aim of this research is to find out the influence of biogas digester on human health, animal, and environment. This research was done using literature study and secondary data taken from Sumber Makmur Cooperation in Ngantang and Animal Health and Livestock Bureau in Malang District. The result of this research shows the potency of biogas production in Indonesia is huge. The amount of cows and cattles in Indonesia is around 15 million heads could produce biogas 9 million m3/day or 3285 million m3/month. If 1 m3 biogass equal to 0,62 lt gasoline, so 3285 million m3/month biogass equal to 2,036 billion of gasoline. If  biogass used by  Indonesian people as alternative energy, so it can save Rp 22,4 billion/year (price of gasoline Rp 11.000). The amount of cows and cattles  in Malang District were 315.326 heads and potency of biogass production about 189.196 m3/day or 68.110.416 m3/year. While the total cattles and cows in Waturejo village, Ngantang, Malang District were 1532 tails, the potency of the gas production about 919.2 m3/day or  335.508 m3/year. Processing manure into biogas is beneficial for  human, livestock and environment’s health  because it reduces  release of gases such as methane and CO2 into the atmosphere, reduces pathogens contamination to foodstuffs such as vegetables and milk and prevents environmental pollutions by pathogens that can cause death to humans and livestock. Abstract

The aim of this research was to study the effects of concentrates subtitution with cassava leaf (Manihot esculenta, Crantz) and gliricidia (Gliricidia sepium,Jacq) mixtures silage on feed consumption, digestibility, N retention and average daily gain of fat tailed sheep. Twenty  male fat tailed sheep of approximately 18 months, with body weights of 23,85±4.75 kg were alloted randomly into a Randomized Block Designs with five treatments and four blocks. They were kept in the wooden metabolizable cages. The  diets were consisted of  corn leaf (CL), concentrates (C) containing 22,85% crude protein (CP) and cassava leaf-gliricidia mixtures silage (S). The ratio of S : C was 60  : 40% on dry matter (DM) basis. Five dietary treatments were : R0 = CL 60% and C 40% (C 100%  and S 0%); R25 = CL 60% and C 40% (C75% and S 25%); R50 = CL 60% and C 40% (C 50% and S 50%); R75 =Cl 60% and C 40% (C 25% and S 75%); R100 = CL 60% and C 40% (C 0% and S 100%).  The diet was offered at 3% of body weight on the DM basis. The variables measured were DM intake, organic matter (OM)  intake (OM intake), CP intake, DM digestibility, OM digestibility, CP digestibility, DM digestibility intake, OM digestibility intake, CP digestibility intake, N retention and average daily gain (ADG). The results showed that the treatments had no significant differences (P>0.05) on CP intake, but had significant differences (P<0.05) on DM intake, OM intake, N retention  and had highly significant differences (P<0.01) on DM digestibility, OM digestibility, CP digestibility, DM digestibility intake, OM digestibility intake, CP digestibility intake, and ADG. The effects of concentrates substition with silage mixtures till 100% could decrease feed intake, digestibility, N retention and ADG. However, concentrate subtitution with 25% of cassava leaf–gliricidia silage mixtures in the diet showed the same ADG (165.24 g/head/day) with 100% concentrates (168.9 g/head/day). Abstract

The aim of this research is to evaluate dry matter digestibility value and organic matter biscuits biosuplemen leaf katuk in vitro. The research materials were biosupplement biscuits, consist of katuk leaf, molasses and concentrate of lactation. The design used was complete randomized design (RAL) with 5 treatments and 3 replications. P1: 10% leaf katuk, 90% concentrate; P2: 20% katuk leaves, 80% concentrate; P3: 30% katuk leaves, 70% concentrate; P4: 40% katuk leaves, 60% concentrate; P5: 50% leaf katuk, 50% concentrate. The variables observed were dry matter digestibility and organic matter. Data were analyzed by using ANOVA. The results showed that the digestibility of dry matter and organic matter in vitro biscuits biosuplemen katuk respectively are 62.39% -72.80% and 58.80% -70.00%. The dry matter digestibility value and the organic matter in vitro for each formulation treatment were not significantly different (P> 0.05). The conclusion of this research is that biosupplement biscuits of katuk leaves has not been able to improve the digestibility of dry matter and organic matter in vitro.

Abstract

The study was conducted to evaluate the effect of α-tocopherol in  Tris Aminomethane – egg yolk diluent at cold storage in Boer goats. The semen was collected from  Boer goats buck aged 1.5-2 years old,  with a body weight of 80-90 kg.  After evaluation of fresh semen, the semen was diluted with tris-aminomethane-egg yolk with a ratio of 1 : 10. The diluted semen then was divided into four groups containing 0.0 g; 0.2 g; 0.4 and 0.6 g α-tocopherol / 100 ml diluent, and stored at 5oC for one hour before evaluation. The results showed that there was no significant difference in sperm motility, however the sperm viability and abnormality were significantly differences (P<0.01) between groups both before and 1-hour after storage at cold temperature.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the ability of binahong (Anrederacordifolia (Ten.) Steenis) leaf juice as alternative herbal antibacterialagainst teat dipping mastitis of livestock. Pure isolate of Staphylococcusaureus and Esherichia coli taken from sub clinical mastitis of dairy cowwere used in this experiment. The experiment was examined with four differenttreatments and five replication 60% (P 1 ), 80% (P 2 ), and 100% (P 3 ) ofbinahong leaf juice concentration’s as treatment and iodips 10% (P0) as placebo.Based on statisctical method, the result prove that binahong’s leaf juice hadpotentially reduced against growth of bacteria as play of inhibition’s zone onNA media culture. Mostly 100% (P 3 ) of binahong leaf juice concentrations wasthe best treatment that gave inhibition zone in Staphylococcus aureus(9.72 ± 4.36 mm) and Escherichia coli (9.15 ± 4.57 mm). This could be concludedthat binahong’s leaf juice had an ability avoid growth of mastitis bacteria andit can be potentially used as herbal antibacterial in teat dipping to againstmastitis.
