The Islamic modern world, which was started since in the 19th century, provided various religious thoughts. One of them was thought on sunnah authority. This discourse attracted many scholars from various fields, which resulted to various perfectives on the discourse. Surely, the variety could be analyzed and categorized into certain types based on categorization of logic. The categorizing is viable because the various thought that were produced by modern- contemporer personages are not absolutely different from each other, where its form and character still can be divided. At least there are four typologies regarded to the thought on sunnah authority, they are: ideal totalistic, ideal restrictive, ideal generality and paradigmatic. These typologies are taken from various perfectives and supported by various approaches in understanding sunnah authority and hadith validation. These typologies also reflect modern personage‟s struggle in understanding sunnah authority and hadith validation in human life

Thomas Kuhn describes that the science truth will be discovered many times from one object, although the method used changed. Formulation of paradigm theory sparks that the science truth (legitimated truth) is identical to teleology object, which is based on detection that is known as final cause. The truth science is not continuous, improvised, evolutioned, or cumulative. There is paradigm shift actually, which is known as revolution. Shifting paradigm is equally understood as gestalt switch, which discovers verification on all at once or not at all. Paradigm shift helps unfolding consciousness that scientists as unable to discover truth in objectively established manners. Paradigm designs the worldview’s frame or perspective to be more important, legitimate and reasonable. This led the detection to revolution or be eliminated due to its experimental ability in accommodating a new winnowing, which is discovered. Sustained paradigm will influence normal science as long as anomaly does not exist. The criteria of new paradigm are neater, more suitable, simpler, and more elegant.

This article discusses the development and the influence of tarekat in societal life of rural Javaness. Some researchers on modern tarekat in Indonesia, like Bruinessen and Howel, argued that practicing tarekat now shifts from rural to urban community, which is known as urban Sufism. The unique relation between sheikh and student gradually being left by the urban Sufism and being changed by ability in rhetoric and connecting religious teaching to modern life issues by using spiritual approaches. Based on my field experience, this argument is not totally relevant and true, especially in rural community of Javaness. Tarekat is not influenced by the development of modern communication and telecommunication. Tarekat remains as inseparable part of rural religious social life. This research was conducted in January 2012 in a remote village of Pekalongan, Central Java. While I took part in various activities of the Tarekat Shiddiqiah members, I interviewed some of the members. By doing this, I sum up that the development of modern communication and transportation does not necessarily change the map of tarekat in rural community. The attachment of Javaness mystical tradition to tarekat helps the tarekat develop within community.

Mu‘jam al-Wajiz Min Ahadith al-Rasul al-‘aziz is one of classic work in hadist, which is still written in manuscript. The manuscript is posed by Acehnese community. It is compellation of hadist which is structured alphabetically. Collected hadist is started by letter of alif, which is followed by ba’ and so on following Arabic alphabet order. This structure ease people in searching particular hadist. Moreover, the author mentioned mukharrij in every end of hadist, which is also important to initiate takhrij hadist.

Seeking the truth is one of that a man does in his life. Standard of the truth is dependent on media, which is employed by the man. There are there media, which are used by a man in seeking the truth. They are; religion, philosophy, and knowledge or science. Truth provided by religion tends to rely on truth-values that are referred to God. The truth produced by philosophy tends to provide deep reflective thought, which are less connected to God. While the truth afforded by science consists of knowledge values that are inconsistent and changeable following the human life development.

One of methods formulated by comtemporary Ulama to approach hadith is ikhtilaf hadith. This method could be developed become frame of maudu‟i understanding. Using this method in analyzing cases in hadith is expected to prevent ignorance in summarizing process. If understanding is being trapped in tarjih al hadith, which is historical, one may be trapped in the method, tarjih al hadits, trough analyzing sanad. While in fact, the tarjih theonly one method within the process of hadith, which is seen contradictive (ikhtilaf)

Ali syari‟ati is an Islamic scholar and altogether a pioneer who opposed tyranny manfully. Living in the crisis country that practiced nepotism, make him realized about the important humanities in the creation a clean governance that up holds Al-Quran and Sunnah. Philosophical studies that he learned since he was a kid until doctorate program, made him become a socialist who gave serious attention to oppressed laymen. His brilliant thoughts suggest Muslims to be stout- hearted to fight against evilness. Although, the in discourse of philosophy of history explains that dialect between evilness and goodness never ends until the destruction day, a man cannot end the fight.

Based on writer observation, there are few works on work ethic. There is no sole theory could explains all phenomena and how to make weak to become stronger and better. Sometimes work ethic influenced by belief, like a religion. Sometimes it is affected by economic growth in a community. As a complex religion, Islam explains about work ethic in adequate manner. At least, this could be understood through worship concept that poses unlimited meanings, which work ethic is included in.

Man destructs and exploits nature and environment without or with giving attention to the hurt or broken body of earth. Man is not wise toward nature and environment. Does Philosophy could prevent the destructions, as it serves man to become wise? Since philosophy turn away from earthly life, the world then hesitates to consult to philosophy in solving urgent problems. Basically, phi- losophy and ecology serve cooperation that results a strong relation between knowledge and philosophy in this century. Philosophy as an alternative will not rule out knowledge and religion roles. However, they are always in dialog. Like a cycles, there is a need to each other support and logic explanation and cooperation in facing life problems. The Ecology’s wisdom that is found in local wisdom, ascetics of knowledge, and philosophy’s ethic are useful to be alternatives to prevent nature and environment from destruction.

Marriage is legal action which needs basic principles that make it legally valid. Of the basic principles of marriage, the existence of guardian always becomes a complicated problem in the community. The majority of jurists argued that a woman should not marry himself or others. If she marry without a guardian, then the marriage null and void. However, differed with the majority of jurists Abu Hanifa argued that the female adult of normal intelligence has the right to perform the marriage ceremony without a guardian directly, both girls and widows. This is based on al-Baqarah verse 230; 232 and 234. In the third verse is attributed to the contract of women, this suggests that women have the right to perform marriages directly. Differences of opinion among the commentators that occurs is due to the lack of texts that clearly states the problem of wali concept itself.
