Abstract

Rejected little tuna (Eutynnus sp) is alternative feed ingredient which same quality to commercial fish meal and the price is relatively cheaper. The aim of this research were to study the interaction between the salt level with time of steaming on the nutritional content (dry matter, crude protein, extract ether, crude fiber, calcium and phosphorus) of rejected little tuna meal. The experimental design was completely randomized design (CRD) 3 x 3 factorial pattern with 3 replications. The first factor was level of salting (A) (A1 = 2.5 %, A2 = 5.0%, A3 = 7.5%) the second factor was times of steaming (B) (B1 = 15 min, B2 = 30 min, B3 = 45 minutes). The results showed that the interaction between the level of salt to the time of steaming can maintain quality of rejected little tuna fish processed, it was seen with increasing of nutrient content of crude protein of rejected little tuna (50.16-64.42%), and the processing of rejected little tuna by salting and steaming highly significant effect (P <0.01) and there is a higly significant interaction (P <0.01) through the on dry matter and extract ether rejected little tuna processed. In conclusion, the processing of rejected little tuna by salting and steaming can maintain quality of rejected little tuna, it was seen with increasing of nutrient especially on crude protein (50.16-64.42), so that it can be used as animal feed.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the development of business as well as to analyze the aspects of production and determine the feasibility of breeding quail in Livestock Masagena from 2006 to 2010. The study was conducted from May to June 2011. The data consisted of primary and secondary data. Primary data were hatchability, mortality, hen day egg production, meat production, by product, the characteristic of the respondents, marketing, technical maintenance, financial analysis, fixed costs and variable costs. Secondary data was the data from the Village Office and Head Office. Case study research method was determined by purposive sampling. Data collected by observation and interviews directly with respondents using questionnaires. Data of quail production were analyzed using mean and standard deviation, while for financial feasibility quantitatively was analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the average production Ranch quail egg hatchability Masagena coverr were 78.59%, 3.09% mortality quail, hen day egg production and meat production 62.24%, 152.51 head/day. Financial feasibility analysis results showed a positive NPV, BCR was more than one, and the IRR was higher than the interest rate, indicated that the Ranch Masagena financially viable to run.

Abstract

Banana peel can be used as an alternative feed based on the potential availability and nutritional. The experiments were conducted to improve the nutrient quality of Banana Peel and Tofu Waste mixture (BPTW) by using Phanerochaete chrysosporium and Neurospora crassa. This substrate consists of banana peel 70% and tofu waste 30%. The experiment was performed in 3 treatment completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 replicates. The treatments were : A= fermentation BPTW by Phanerochaete chrysosporium and Neurospora crassa (1:1), B = fermentation BPTW by Phanerochaete chrysosporium and Neurospora crassa (2:1), and C = fermentation BPTW by Phanerochaete chrysosporium and Neurospora crassa (1:2). Measured variables were Crude Fiber (CF), Crude Protein (CP), Nitrogen Retention and CF digestion. The result of the research showed that the treatment affected significantly (p<0.01) reduced CF and increased CP, nitrogen retention and CF digestion. In conclusion, fermentation by Phanerochaete chrysosporium and Neurospora crassa (2:1) was the best treatment for improving banana peel and tofu waste nutrient quality

Abstract

This research aims analyze the effect of inoculum dosage of Pleurotus ostreatus and the length of fermentation on the nutritious content of Azolla. The experimental design used completely randomized design in factorial (3 x 3). The first factor is the inoculum dosage, namely : (D1). 3%, (D2).6% and (D3).9% of substrate weight. The second factor is the length of fermentation, namely : (L7). 7 days, (L14). 14 days and (L21). 21 days. Every treatment is repeated for three time. The data found is scrutinized by mode print and it is followed by distance test of multiple Duncan (Steel and Torrie, 1989). The variables observed in research are dry materials, crude fiber, crude protein, cellulose and lignin. The research on the influence of inoculum dosage and the length of fermentation on dry materials content, crude protein and cellulose had not significant effect (P>0.05). On the other hand, crude fiber, and lignin had significant effect (P<0.01). The inoculum dosage of 9% and the fermentation length of 14 days is the best combination treatment and it can reduce the crude fiber amounting to 48.80%, an increase of crude protein amounting to 39.31% and a decrease of cellulose and lignin amounting to 49.86% and 27.66% respectively.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the physico chemical properties of gelatin extracted from spent hen with HCl pretreatment with immersion for 5 and 10 days. With extraction stages E1 temperature (45°C), E2 (65°C), and E3 75°C. Analysis results show there is significant difference (p<0.05) on the strength of bloom, the attribute color (b*has a negative value), and solubility. Respective is in the range ash content 1,10-2,26%, protein (68.91-79.86%), fat (1:10 to 2:26%), moisture (5.0-10.3%) and carbohydrate (10.1-20.84% ) for SCF 5, while the SCF 10. Ash (1.99-2.27%), protein (77.81-80.80%), fat (1:00 to 2:00%), moisture (5.0-7.0%), carbohydrate (9.58-12.60%).
