Abstract

Potential of resource commodities contained in the waters of the Bali Strait needs to be studied for the level of utilization and the level of sustainability. This research aimed to analyze the conditions for the utilization of lemuru fish resources commodities and the sustainability status of lemuru fisheries in the Bali Strait based on four aspects, namely ecological, economic, social, and technological dimensions. Commodity condition of resources is carried out with Catch Per Unit Effort (CPUE) analysis, while the sustainability status of resource commodities uses Rappid Appraisal for Fisheries (RAPFISH) analysis. Data used in this study is based on data from PPN Pengambengan, Bali and PPP Muncar, Banyuwangi. The questionnaire was distributed to 55 respondents with purposive sampling techniques. The results of the analysis on the CPUE of the commodity condition of lemuru fish resources in 2013-2017 experienced a decrease and the occurrence of over-fishing in the Bali Strait. Meanwhile, based on the status of sustainability, it shows that the status is less sustainable in a multidimensional manner with a value of 36.47.

Abstract

The dependence of fishermen on obtaining income during the fishing season can cause problems in fulfilling food needs. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the food security of small-scale fishermen's households. The sampling technique was a purposive sampling of 75 small-scale fishing households. The data analysis used was Jonsson and Toole's analysis of food expenditure, energy adequacy and food security. The results showed when it is not fish season or moderate season, some fishing households do productive activities outside of fishing, such as cultivating forest land belonging to the Indonesian Forestry Minister, becoming marine tour guides, and having livestock and a working wife. As a result, household income can meet basic food and non-food expenditures. The average level of energy consumption is 2,772.8 kcal/capita/day, and the average protein consumption is 177.8 grams/capita/day. The calories from grains or rice reach 780 kcal/capita/day, and the highest protein source comes from fish getting 140.7 grams/capita/day. All fisherman household respondents have a proportion of expenditure for food consumption less than sixty per cent and a gonad maturity level of more than eighty per cent. This value indicates that all small-scale fishing households are food insecure. The existence of activities outside of catching fish diversifies business in the household, enabling fishing households to meet the basic needs of food and non-food and food security.

Abstract

The establishment of conservation areas is a form of conservation and utilization of coastal areas and small islands and their ecosystems in an integrated manner to ensure the existence and sustainability of their resources. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the management of the Dampier Strait water conservation area using the Analytical Network Process (ANP) method. Four important aspects to describe the problems and solutions in this study are sourced from ecological, economic, social, and institutional clusters and sub-clusters. The results of the analysis show that the priority problem of managing the water conservation area in the Dampier Strait area originates from the ecological cluster. The results of the sub-cluster analysis show priority problems, namely: (1) Ecosystem degradation with a value of 0.4529, (2) Community welfare is still low with a value of 0.4361 based on economic aspects, (3) Fishing that is not environmentally friendly with a value of 0 .4089 based on social aspects, and (4) Regulations that have not run optimally from the institutional aspect with a value of 0.3844. Referring to the priority problems in each sub-cluster, the following priority solutions were obtained, namely: (1) Coordinating with a score of 0.5447 from the social aspect, (2) Forming a partnership network with a value of 0.5438 from the institutional aspect, (3) Increased community capacity 0.4351, and (4) Improved ecosystem function with a value of 0.4147 from the ecological aspect.

Abstract

Ecotourism is one of the ecological-based tourism activities, one of which is mangrove ecotourism.  Martajasah is one of the mangrove ecotourism areas that have a high potential to be developed because it is adjacent to religious and culinary tourism.  The purpose of this study is to determine the profile of tourists and to determine the development strategy of Martajasah Mangrove Ecotourism, Bangkalan Regency. The analytical method used in this study is Importance Performance Analysis (IPA). This analysis relates the level of importance of an attribute owned by a particular object with the reality (performance) felt by tourists. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the majority of Martajasah Mangrove Ecotourism tourists come from Bangkalan Regency, male with student status, with an average age of 16-25 years. The biggest motivation for tourists to visit Martajasah Mangrove Ecotourism is for recreation. The development strategy of Martajasah Mangrove Ecotourism is to improve the quality and quantity of white sand, increase the length of the beach, increase the availability of travel agents to make it easier for tourists to go to Martajasah Mangrove Ecotourism and increase the number of facilities and infrastructure at the Martajasah Mangrove Ecotourism location.

Abstract

The condition of coastal communities, including the Pasangkayu area, in terms of the Expected Years of Schooling (EYS), is still very vulnerable. This study aims to analyze the key factors of increasing the EYS of the community in the coastal countryside of Pasangkayu Regency. The Matrix  of  Cross  Impact  Multiplications  Applied  to a Classification (MICMAC) methods were used in this study. Respondents are experts sourced from the government, educational institutions, non-governmental organizations and communities in the Coastal Village of Pasangkayu Regency. The results showed that the key factor in increasing the EYS in Coastal Village, Pasangkayu Regency was helping parents. The economic condition of coastal rural communities is still vulnerable, so helping people and being able to go to school is a key factor in increasing the EYS. Institutions related to coastal villages are advised to develop work programs that support research results, namely by increasing the old expectations of coastal community schools through these key factors. One way is to develop a school model for fishermen's children. The strategy is carried out by mobilizing teachers to teach non-formal schools for fishermen's children. Supported by the Education Office in equivalence of diplomas with formal education. EYS, can be increased through the increasing number of elderly school-age population who continue to higher education.

Abstract

The value of mangroves is not only in the form of wood products, but can also be in the form of non-timber forest products (HHBK) and environmental services. Information is needed regarding the value of the importance of using mangroves in the future, the value of conserving their biodiversity, and the value of community appreciation for their existence. The research was conducted around of mangrove area in Jerowaru District, Lombok Timur Regency, Nusa Tenggara Barat Province from February – July 2022. The method used in this research is a quantitative approach through the provision of option values, existence values, and bequest values to mangroves which are determined based on estimates using WTP (willingness to pay), whose values are based on the contingent valuation approach. Based on the results of the assessment of the options benefit, the existence benefit, and the inheritance benefits, of mangroves in Jerowaru District, Lombok Timur Regency, Nusa Tenggara Barat Province, it is known that the value of the optional benefit related to biodiversity conservation for the benefit of utilization in the future is ± IDR 224,885.25/ha/year. The value of the existence benefit related to habitat continuity for user species ± IDR 84,953.96/ha/year and the value of the bequest benefit related to community appreciation of the ownership of resources ± IDR 1,066,667/ha/year
