Abstract

Goldfish (Carassius auratus L.), one of the most popular and freshwater ornamental fish to be cultivated in Indonesia. One obstacle in the cultivation of Carassius auratus L. is the high feed cost (60-70%) of the total production cost. The natural food source for fish Carassius auratus L. is Tubifex sp. which has a high nutritional content. The aim of the study was to determine the dosage of Tubifex sp. best for the growth and survival rate of goldfish (C. auratus L.). This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Water Quality and Aquatic Biology, Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Tadulako University for 2 month (January to March 2020). The experimental design used a Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment in this study was the administration of silk worms with different doses (A = 6%; B = 8%; C = 10%; D = 12%; E = 14%). The variables measured included absolute weight growth, survival and water quality. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA), with further tests BNJ using Excel 2010 and Minitab 16 application programs. The results showed that the natural feed (Tubifex sp.) shows a significant growth in absolute weight, but has no effect on survival. The absolute growth of goldfish seeds was the highest in the feeding of Tubifex sp. with a dose of 12% of 14.82 ± 2.76 g with a survival rate of 90.63% ± 6.25. Water quality (temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen and ammonia) is still in accordance with the growth needs of goldfish fry.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the ability of aquaponic systems using different numbers of water spinach (Ipomea aquatica) clumps in reducing ammonia in tilapia (Orechromis niloticus) culture. This study was designed in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replicates, namely Treatment A (without water spinach), B (3 clumps of water spinach), C (6 clumps of water spinach), D (9 clumps of water spinach) and E (12 clumps of water spinach). This study was conducted for 60 days in November-December 2018 at the Fish Reproduction Laboratory, Brawijaya University, Malang. The results showed that the use of different numbers of water spinach clumps in the aquaponic system had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the reduction of ammonia and nitrite concentrations, but had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the reduction of nitrate and absolute growth of tilapia. The highest ammonia and nitrite reduction concentrations were found in the treatment of 12 water spinach clumps 84.31% and 69.88%, respectively.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the nutrient content of the bioconverted palm oil sludge using Rhizopusoligosporus so that it is suitable as functional feed. The used materials were oil palm mud flour and Rhizopusoligosporus fungus. The research design used a factorial completely randomized design with 8 treatments and 3 replications. The treatment consisted of two factors, the first factor was 4 concentrations, namely (0%, 5%, 10% and 15%) and two fermentation times, namely (60 and 96 hours). All treatments were analyzed for nutrient content including dry matter content (BK), crude protein (PK) and crude fiber (SK) fermented palm sludge. The results of the analysis of variety showed that the treatment had a very significant effect (P <0.01) on the content of BK, PK, SK and there was an interaction between the concentration of fungi and fermentation time on SK. The highest dry matter content for BK was obtained in W2K15 treatment (83.24%), PK on W2K15 (18.44%), and SK on W2K15 (24.00%).

Abstract

This study aims was to determine the effect of giving turmeric flour (Curcuma Domestica Val) in the rations on the percentage of super native chicken carcass. In this study, 80 super native chickens were placed in 20 cages with 4 chickens in each cage. The method used in this study was the completely randomized design method (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments used in this study were A (without turmeric flour or control), B (2% turmeric flour), C (4% turmeric flour), and D (6% turmeric flour). The variables observed were live weight, carcass weight, and carcass percentage. The results showed that the addition turmeric flour (Curcuma Domestica Val) had no significant effect on live weight, carcass weight, and carcass percentage of super native chicken. Giving turmeric flour to a level of 6% did not affect live weight, carcass weight, and carcass percentage.

Abstract

The goat’s marketing is mostly dominated by marketing institutions that have large scale business. This study aims to find out the marketing system and the benefits gained from each marketing goat market in Maranata Traditional Market, Sigi Regency. The study was conducted from November to December 2016. The research used descriptive analysis with sampling, incidential method to goat farmer and exploratory method to marketing institution. The population in this study is the total number of goat farmer and marketing institutions that amounted to 30 respondents. Based on results of the research, the goat marketing system in Maranata Traditional Market has 2 models of goat marketing channels. The process of establishing prices and payment patterns for goats begins with the buyer assessing the livestock. The highest profit in marketing of lane II is Rp. 383,417/ ekor, because has a low marketing cost because it only markets its livestock in the market. The lowest institution is the marketing channel I that is Rp. 346.612/ tails.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of adding probiotics in feed on growt and survival rate of tilapia. This study was designed using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with a P factor (Probiotic EM4) consisting of 4 treatments with 5 replications each so that there were 20 experimental units. The addition of EM4 probiotics in tilapia feed gave significant effect (P>0,05) on absolute weight growth, specific growth rate. The survival rate of tilapia with the treatment of adding EM4 probiotics in feed ranges between 82-86%.

Abstract

Livestock-coconut integration pattern is characterized by a close relationship between the plant and livestock components in a farming activity or in an area. This study aims to determine the income of farmers and the feasibility of integrating cattle with coconut plantations in Dampelas sub-district, Donggala district. This research was conducted in Dampelas District, Donggala Regency. The research site was chosen purposely (Purposive) with the consideration that in this area many farmers are implementing the business pattern of integrating cattle with coconut (Cocos nucifera) This research was conducted from October to December 2019. Based on the analysis of the cow-coconut integration effort (Cocos Nucifera) in Balaesang District, Donggala Regency. coconut sales were Rp.24.178.826 / year and total sales of cattle were Rp.61.837.745 / year, so the total income was Rp.86.016.571 / year. The R / C for the coconut plantation business is 8.67 and the R/C for the cattle business is 105.56 feasible to be developed.
