Abstract

This study is research and development to produce learning package by applying cognitive strategy and scientific approach ini solving mathematics problem. The package include: (1) lesson plan, (2) student’s textbook, (3) teacher handbook, and (4) student’s worksheet. The development model used refers to 4-D model of Thiagaranjan, Semmel & Semmel which consists of defening phase, design phase, development phase, and dissemination phase. The study was conducted twice. The first tryout was conducted in grade X IPA 1 at SMAN 1 Bantaeng and the second tryout was conducted in grade X IPA 2 at SMAN 1 Bantaeng. The results obtained in the first tryout was: (1) the learning package is already practical, but still there are some suggestions need to be considered to improve the practicality of the package, (2) the learning package is yet effective because the classical completeness has not been achieved and students activity is not yet appropriate as expected, although the teacher’s ability to manage learning are already in high category and students’ response is already in positive category. The results of these analyzes are used to revise the package prior to the second trial. The results obtained in the second tryout were (1) the package is already practical, (2) the learning package is already effective, because the classical completeness has been reached, student’s activity is suitable as expected, the ability to manage the learning is in high category and students are already in positive category. Therefore, in the second tryout, prototype III was obtained which was valid, practical, and effective and continued with dissemination phase to obtain the final prototype. After 4 phases had been conducted, it is obtained learning package by applying cognitive strategies in solving mathematical problems which is are valid, practical, effective

Abstract

The population in this study was seventh grade students consisting of 7 calsses. The sampling technique use random sampling technique that was by lottery class. From raffle earned that grade VII G class as TS-TS class and VII F Class as ekspository class. Mathematics learning outcomes data obtained using the test method in the form of objective questions. Analysis of the data used one tailed t-test and two tailed t-test. From the test results obtained by the two tailed t-test  = 1,9180 and  = 1,5409, it means  >  with a significance level of 5% and 54 degrees of freedom, which means  was rejected. This suggest that there were differences in mathematics achievement between students who use cooperative model of TS-TS and ekspository learning model. One tailed t-test result obtained that  = 1,9180 and  = 1,5409, it means  >  with a significance level of 5% and 54 degrees of freedom, which means  was rejected. This suggest that the learning outcomes of students who use the cooperative model of TS-TS was better than learning outcomes of students who use the ekspository learning model in even semester of seventh grade student in SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Yogyakarta academic year of 2016/2017

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian ex-post facto yang bersifat kausalitas yang bertujuan untuk: 1) mendeskripsikan metakognisi, motivasi beajar, kreativitas belajar, dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa, 2) mendeskripsikan pengaruh metakognisi, motivasi belajar, kreativitas belajar secara parsial terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa Kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Sabbangparu Kabupaten Wajo yang berjumlah 75 orang dengan mengambil populasi sebagai sampel (sampel jenuh), pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan memberikan instrumen untuk mengukur metakognisi, motivasi belajar, kreativitas belajar siswa, dan tes untuk kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat metakognisi siswa  berada pada kategori sedang dengan nilai sebesar 71,85, tingkat motivasi siswa berada pada kategori sedang dengan nilai sebesar 76,42, kreativitas siswa berada pada kategori sedang dengan nilai sebesar 68,27 dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa diperoleh nila 74,80. Koefisien pengaruh metakognisi terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah sebesar 0,470 dengan nilai p = 0,000 < 0,05; Koefisien pengaruh motivasi terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah sebesar 0,416 dengan nilai p = 0,009 < 0,05; Koefisien pengaruh koefisien pengaruh kreativitas belajar terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah sebesar 0,487 dengan nilai p = 0,000 < 0,05, Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa metakognisi, motivasi belajar, kreativitas belajar berpengaruh signifikan positif terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa sehingga dapat diartikan bahwa semakin baik metakognisi, motivasi belajar, dan kreativitas belajar yang dimiliki siswa, maka kemampuan pemecahan masalah bagi siswa tersebut tersebut semakin tinggi.Kata kunci: Metakognisi, Motivasi Belajar, dan Kreativitas Belajar, dan                   Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah.

Abstract

This research was purposed to know the effectiveness of generative learning model with write-pair-switch strategy in mathematics learning for students of grade X SMA Negeri 9 Makassar. The design of this study was Pre-Experimental Design, namely One-Group Pretest Posttest Design. This study involved two experimental classes, X.2 consist of 33 students and X.5 consist of 35 students by using simple random sampling technique. The data were collected by using students mathematics achievement test, learning implementation observation sheet, students activity observation sheet, and students response questionnaire. The techniques of data analysis were descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. The results of this study reveal that: 1) student’s learning achievement before being taught by using generative learning model with write-pair-switch strategy are in very low category, however student’s learning achivement after being taught by using generative learning model with write-pair-switch strategy are in high category, student’s learning achievement after being taught by using generative learning model with write-pair-switch strategy achieved minimal completeness criteria, the improvement of student’s learning achievement (gain) are in high category, student’s learning achivement after being taught by using generative learning model with write-pair-switch strategy did not achieve the classical mastery, and student’s attitude are in good category; 2) student’s activity in learning processes with generative learning model with write-pair-switch strategy are in good category; and 3) student’s response toward the implementation of generative learning model with write-pair-switch strategy are in tend positive category. Based on the criteria of effectiveness, generative learning model with write-pair-switch strategy is not effective in mathematics learning for students of grade X SMA Negeri 9 Makassar

Abstract

One factor which determined student’s achievement in learning is self-efficacy which can affect the activities, goals, and efforts that is conducted by students to resolve problem, especially in thinking. Each student has different self-efficacy which will lead them to have different thinking. Therefore, the objective of the research  is to find out the profile of thinking be reveal and classify each tendency of thinking shown by students on four level of thinking based on SOLO (Structure of Observed Learning Outcomes) taxonomy, namely uni-structural, multi-structural, relational, and extended abstract. This is a descriptive research by qualitative approach. This research is as the main instrument which leads by super item test, self-efficacy scale, and a valid interview manual. Subject of the research were students of class VIII-C at SMP Al-Azhar Palu, which consisted of 4 students (2 students in high self-efficacy and 2 students in low self-efficacy. Process of the research were: (a) formulated the thinking indicators based on SOLO taxonomy, (b) formulated a valid and reliable supporting instrument (super item test, self-efficacy scale, and interview manual), (c) took the subject of research based on self-efficacy condition, (d) took data to reveal the thinking level of students by super item test, (e) conducted a triangulation of data analysis, and (h) concluded the result of study. The result revealed that: (a) subject with high efficacy (HE) shows the tendency of thinking on the level of extended abstract, (b) subject with low efficacy (LE) shows the tendency of thinking on the level of relational, (c) subject with the high and low self-efficacy relatively shows a same tendency of thinking on the level of uni-structural, multi-structural, and relational as well as on the extended abstract

Abstract

The objective of the research is to discover the profiles of Mathematics communication abilities of students with high GPA score and students with medium GPA score and its comparison. The research was conducted by revealing the students’ Mathematics communication abilities through Mathematics communication ability test with group problem. Based on the test results, the students then interviewed to confirm the students’ answers and to obtain deeper data. The research was qualitative research with descriptive approach. The subjects of the research were the students of academic year 2014 of Mathematics Education Program at FKIP Untad, consisted of two students with high GPA score and two students with medium GPA score. The results of the research reveal that: (1) the students with high GPA score (MIT) have Mathematics communication abilities in solving group problem: Representing the intention of the question by writing information which was known and asked in a form of point by point by using short sentence and able to make symbol in accordance with the information. The two subject writing the answer to solve group problem question quite complete started from known and asked information from the question until the stages of problem solving. However, the two subjects had difference in writing reason in the stages of group problem solving answer. Subject MIT1 was quite consistent in writing the reasons in several stages of solving which the subject made but subject MIT2 tended to not writing the reason in most of the answer stage of question solving, using all the symbols which often used in group material in solving test question, re-explaining the answer of question solving stage by stage according to the answer which the subject wrote. The subject explained each solving stage with reasons from the stage; (2) the students with medium GPA score (MIS) had Mathematics communication abilities in solving group problem. Subject MIS1 tended to write the information which was known and asked in one sentence, while subject MIS2 wrote information which was known and asked through point by point. The two subjects were able to make symbols in accordance with the information which was known from the question, the two subject writing the answer of group problem solving incompletely in the stages, able to write the reason in several stage of solving answer, very lack in using symbols which usually used in group material, even several sentences which could be written in from of Mathematics symbol were not written in from of symbol by the subjects. Subject MIS1 re-explaining the answer of test question shortly and not in details in the stages, while subject MIS2 re-explaining the answer of test question through stages by stages in accordance with the answer which the subject had written and explained each reason in the steps

Abstract

The collecting data techniques were the teachers learning management ability observation sheet and the students’ activity, learning result test, response questionnaire and documentation. The results of the research showed that: (1) the learning process increased from cycle I to cycle II. It could be seen from the percentage of the average score of the teachers and students’ activities. The percentage of the average score of the teachers’ activity in cycle was 80,4% with good category and in cycle II increased 83,04% with good category. While the percentage of the average score of the students’ activity in cycle I was 78,5 with sufficient category and in cycle II highly increased to 85,2 with good category, (2) the students’ learning result by using cooperative learning model with scientific approach of class VI/A students at SD Inpress Kassi Makassar of academic year 2014/2015, increased  classically from cycle I to cycle II, in cycle I the classical completeness was 65,5% and in cycle II incresed to 88,5% from the students who followed the test, (3) the students’ response toward mathematics learning activity through cooperative learning model with scientific approach of class VI/A students at SD Inpress Kassi Makassar of academic year 2014/2015 from 9 aspect asked to the students, the students gave positive response minimally in each aspect by 78,9% namely in the aspect of whether your self confidence increased in giving idea or opinion in the implementation of cooperative learning model with scientific approach, while the other 8 aspect were above 78,9%. The average of positive response percentage was 89,3%

Abstract

The research was experiment which aimed to discover whether the learning model, cognitive style and initial ability influenced the student’s mathematics learning results in class VIII at SMPN 1 Rantepao. The population of the research was class VIII students at SMPN 1 Rantepao. The sample of the research was taken by using random sampling technique. The sample which was chosen was 4 classes, namely class VIII.6, VIII.8, VIII.9 and VIII.11. There were two variables in the research, namely independent and dependent variables. Independent variables were learning model, cognitive style and initial ability. While dependent variables were the student’s mathematics learning result. The learning model referred to cooperative learning model of Course Review Horay and Team Games Tournament type, while the cognitive style referred to Field Dependent and Field Independent. Similarly, the initial ability in this research referred to high and low initial ability. The instruments of the research were observation sheets, questionnaire, mathematics learning test result which covered pre-test and post-test, initial ability test, and cognitive style test (GEFT Test). The data of the research was analyzed by using linear regression with interaction factor. The result of the research showed that the student’s mathematics learning result were influenced by learning model, cognitive style and student’s initial ability

Abstract

This study aims to describe the students’ instrumental and relational understanding about the form of Powers of Numbers and root in grade X of Madrasah Aliyah Pesantren An-Nahdlah Layang Makassar. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative explorative research. Subjects in this study were six students of grade X Academic Year 2016/2017 which were divided into three groups (advance, intermediate, and low levels) selected based on initial ability test results. The data collected consisted of preliminary test result data, mathematics comprehension test data and interview result data. Data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis. Description of research results are divided into two parts, namely instrumental understanding and relational understanding. Description of the instrumental understanding of the three groups is to explain the concept only procedurally based on what the subject memorized, experiencing misconceptions about the concept of the root form, solving the question of form Powers of Numbers by using one way when there are other alternatives that can be used in solving the problem, and applying the concept of Powers of Numbers to the problem solution, experiencing misconceptions about the concept of the root form. The relational understanding of the three groups was different. Higher subject groups presented examples and not examples of more than one form of Powers of Numbers, presented the concept of Powers of Numbers to another mathematical representation with the reason and presentation of more than one, utilize the concept of Powers of Numbers in solving the problem relating to the concept, and solvde the question which deals with the form of a fractional Powers of Numbers with more than one way accompanied by reason. While the intermediate subject group was to understanding how to present the concept of the form of fractional form to the root form and vice versa and understand how to apply the writing of scientific notation to problem solving. Relational understanding of low subject groups was not found in the study

Abstract

This research is a quasi-experimental research, using the nonequivalent pretest-posttest design. The population in this study in a class X IPA at SMAN 1 Lappariaja on the academic year 2015/2016 by number of 188 students. The study involved two experimental class, the class X IPA 4 consisting of 38 student and class X IPA 5 which consists of 36 student selected by cluster random sampling. The first experimental class was treated by applying PBL learning and the second experimental class was treated by applying NHT learning. The instrument used was the echievement test (mathematical power), observation sheets of learning implementation, and student activity sheets. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistical analysis using analysis of Multivariate Analysis of Varian (MANOVA). The result showed that (1) the mathematical power (the ability of understanding mathematical concepts and communication) after the application of PBL learning is the fair category, while the mathematical problem solving abilities is in the low category, mathematical power improvement in the fair category. Mathematical power (the ability of understanding the concept, communication, and solving math problems) after the application of NHT learning overall is in fair category, the improvement of mathematical is in fair category; (2) there is a difference on students’ mathematical power who are taught through PBL learning and by NHT learning; (3) there is difference on the improvement of understanding the concept between students who were tauhgt throught PBL learning with NHT learning; (4) there is no difference on the communication ability improvement of students who were tauhgt throught PBL learning with NHT learning; (5) there is no difference in problem solving skill improvement of student who were taught through PBL learning and with NHT learning in class X SMA Negeri 1 Lappariaja  IPA
