Abstract

Students' learning ability is crucial to success in the learning process. Factors that influence student learning process include the ability to think logically, readiness to learn, and student participation in learning. This study aims to know and explain how much influence the ability of logical thinking, and readiness to learn the results of mathematics learning through the participation of students in learning in the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri In the District Pitumpanua Wajo. This research is an ex-post facto research that is causality. The population in this research is 362 students of Class VIII SMP Negeri in Pitumpanua Subdistrict Wajo Regency year 2015/2016. The sample of 157 students studied using proportional random sampling. Instruments used consisted of logical thinking ability test, questionnaire of learning readiness, student participation questionnaire in learning, and test of mathematics learning result. Data analysis with descriptive statistics and inferential statistical analysis (path analysis). The result of the research shows that (1) Most of VIII grade students of SMP Negeri in Pitumpanua Subdistrict Wajo have the ability to think logically in learning mathematics with medium category, readiness of student learning in mathematics with enough category ready, student participation in learning in learning mathematics with categoryActive, and the results of learning mathematics with the category of being. (2) The variables that have significant influence that is, the readiness of learning has a direct effect on the learning outcomes, the readiness of learning has a direct effect on the participation of students in learning, the readiness of learning has an indirect effect through the participation of students in the learning, and the participation of the students in the learning directly influence the learning outcomes mathematics. (3) Influence variable is insignificant that is, ability of logical thinking have direct effect to result of learning, logical thinking ability have direct effect to student participation in learning, and ability of logical thinking have an indirect effect to result of learning of mathematics through student participation in learning with level of kesignifikanan

Abstract

This research is the classroom Action Research (CAR) which aims to improve the quality of mathematics learning through contextual – based cooperative model. This research was conducted at a SDN Kompleks IKIP 1 Makassar. The subjects were students of class VB (second semester Academic Year 2009/2010). Students activities data, the ability of teachers to manage learning and teachers’ activity was obtained by using the observation sheet and for student learning outcomes data used achievement test. Results showed that (1) student activities at the First Cycle of exiting categories of students activities do not meet the ideal time, on the second and third cycle students activities have fulfilled the ideal time. (2) learning management on Cycle I was in hight enougt category, Cycle II was in the high category, and the Cycle III was at a very high category, so the ability of teachers to manage learning was as expected. (3) Cycle I, Cycle II some activites of teachers still are beyond tolerance time, the Cycle III has been reduced rather than Cycle I and Cycle II, the activity of teachers has increased  (4) study results on Cycle I have not finished from 49 students who have not completed as many as 27 or 55.10% with average learning 61.22, in Cycle II students who have not finished are as many as 20 atau 40.81% with an average of 63.83 learning outcomes in the category has not been completed, while in the Cycle III has reached the completeness with the number of students who have not completed 10 or 24.40%, while the numbers of students who completed was as many as 39 or 79.59%, with an average of 75.39 learning outcomes. Descriptive statistics show that every cycle analysis showed the changes which increased at every cycle

Abstract

Siswa perlu memiliki kemampuan memperoleh, memilih dan mengolah informasi untuk bertahan pada keadaan yang selalu berubah dan penuh dengan persaingan. Penggunaan musik dalam media pembelajaran akan memberikan dampak  positif untuk proses pembelajaran karena musik merupakan salah satu cara untuk merangsang pikiran, sehingga siswa dapat menerima materi pelajaran dengan baik. Atas dasar itu, penulis mengangkat model pembelajaran quantum yang menggunakan media berupa musik instrumental klasik yang diharapkan dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika siswa. Adapun rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah (i) Apakah terdapat interaksi antara pembelajaran quantum dengan kemampuan awal siswa terhadap hasil belajar matematika siswa?, (ii) Apakah hasil belajar matematika siswa yang mempunyai kemampuan awal tinggi dan diajarkan dengan pembelajaran quantum yang diiringi musik instrumental klasik lebih tinggi daripada tanpa diiringi musik instrumental klasik?, (iii) Apakah hasil belajar matematika siswa yang mempunyai kemampuan awal rendah dan diajarkan dengan pembelajaran quantum yang diringi musik instrumental klasik lebih rendah daripada tanpa diiringi musik instrumental klasik? Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian quasi eksperimen dengan tekhnik pengumpulan data melalui instrument tes. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII A SMP Negeri 4 Watampone dan kelas VIII C siswa SMP Negeri 2 Watampone. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (i) secara keseluruhan komponen dari perangkat pembelajaran yang divalidasi termasuk dalam kategori “Valid” dan dapat digunakan dengan revisi kecil., (ii) hipotesis pertama terjadi interaksi antara kemampuan awal dengan pembelajaran quantum (iii) hipotesis kedua, siswa yang mempunyai kemampuan awal tinggi dan diajarkan dengan pembelajaran quantum yang diiringi musik instrumental klasik hasil belajarnya lebih tinggi dari pada tanpa diiringi musik instrumental klasik, (iv) hipotesis ketiga, siswa yang mempunyai kemampuan awal rendah dan diajarkan dengan pembelajaran quantum tanpa diiringi musik instrumental klasik hasil belajarnya lebih rendah daripada diiringi musik instrumental klasik. Kata Kunci: Pembelajaran Quantum, Musik Instrumental Klasik, Kemampuan Awal.

Abstract

Good knowledge and skill in teaching as well as the teachers’ positive attitude toward curriculum are determined in the achievement of curriculum. The research is a qualitative research which aims to describe knowledge, skill, and attitude of mathematics teachers in implementing 2013 curriculum based on the teachers working period. The instrument of the research was the teacher herself as the main instrument and the supportive instruments were knowledge test, observation sheet, attitude assessment questionnaire, and interview. The data collection was conducted by giving knowledge test to examine the teachers’ knowledge in implementing 2013 curriculum, observation to observe the teachers’ skill in learning process, attitude questionnaire to examine the teachers’ attitude toward the implementation of 2013 curriculum. The subjects of the research were mathematics teachers who had implemented 2013 curriculum which consisted of 2 teachers with 5 years working period and 20 years working period from 2 different schools in Public Junior High Schools in Bulukumba District. The process of the research was conducted by visiting the two schools and giving the knowledge test, conducting learning process observation, and giving attitude questionnaire, as well as interviewing the two subjects; then, conducting data reduction, and formulating the conclusion from the result of the research. The result of the research reveals that the teachers’ knowledge between novice teachers and experienced teachers is almost the same. The novice teachers are prominent in the knowledge about learning models, while the experienced teachers are prominent in the knowledge about the objective of the implementation of 2013 curriculum, the connection between standard criteria of graduates, main competence, basic competence and indicator, scientific approach and authentic assessment. In the aspect of the skill in implementing 2013 curriculum and the implementation of authentic assessment in learning process, the novice teachers have yet to implement the learning process and authentic assessment well, while the experienced teachers have already implemented it well. In the aspect of attitude, both the novice and experienced teachers have positive attitudes toward the implementation of 2013 curriculum and the implementation of scientific approach, but yet  to have positive attitude toward the implementation of authentic assessment

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of learning approaches Problem Posing and Problem Solving, initial ability, student self-confidence, and interaction to mathematics learning outcomes. This type of research is a quasi-experimental research with 2x2x2 factorial design. The population in this study were students of class VIII SMPN 6 Moncongloe academic year 2015/2016 with the number of 175 students. The sample was obtained by cluster random sampling technique consisting of 4 classes, 2 classes for Problem Posing approach with 116 students and 2 classes for Problem Solving approach with 116 students. First class experiment class VIII 2 and VIII 5 were treated by applying Problem Posing approach and second experiment that class VIII 3 and VIII 4 were treated by applying Problem Solving approach. The instrument used is the test of learning outcomes, self-confidence questionnaires, instructional observation sheets of learning, and student activity sheets. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis using two way ANOVA analysis with SPSS 18. The result of the research showed that (1) the interaction between the learning approach and the students' initial ability did not influence the students' learning outcomes, (2) the interaction between the learning approach and the students' self-confidence did not affect the students' learning outcomes, (3) the interaction between the students' (4) the interaction between the learning approach, the students' initial ability, and the students' self-confidence does not affect the student's learning outcomes, (5) there is no difference in the students' learning outcomes that are taught using cooperative model with Problem Posing approach With student learning outcomes taught using cooperative model with Problem Solving approach, (6) student learning outcomes with high initial ability higher than student learning outcomes with low initial ability, and (7) student learning outcomes that have higher confidence than Results of student learning I low confidence

Abstract

This study aims to put the parameters of the problem on a general scale with a group wise design. Placement of questions on a general scale can be interpreted that although the test participants responded to the character of the problem is not the same but the ability of test participants in Competitive Adaptive Testing (CAT) can be compared with each other. Data response question comes from four packages namely package 1, package 2, and package 3 National Exam on mathematics subjects. The total number of questions is 140. The data is analyzed with the Bilog_MG program. The results show that the number of questions meet the Rasch model of 109 questions. The matter can be entered into CAT bank. Although the test participants responded to the problem and the number of questions was not the same but the test scores were comparable

Abstract

High learning result in Mathematics is a benchmark of students’ success in Mathematics learning. The students need positive characters and attractiveness to achieve high learning results in Mathematics. Moreover, the students need self concept, achievement motivation, and learning style as well. The research aims at examining the extent of the influence of self concept, achievement motivation, and learning style toward mathematics disposition and the students mathematics learning results in Mathematics of grade XI students at SMAN (public senior high schools) in Makale city. The research is ex-post facto. The populations of the research were the students of grade XI at SMAN in Makale city. The samples were obtained by using cluster proportional random sampling with the total of 171 students. The data collection technique employed self concept questionnaire, achievement motivation questionnaire, learning style questionnaire, mathematics disposition questionnaire, and mathematics learning results test. The data of the research was analyzed by using descriptive and multiple regression analysis. The results of the research reveal that: (1) most students of grade XI at SMAN in Makale city have self concept, achievement motivation, mathematics disposition and mathematics learning results, which is in medium category and visual learning style; (2) self concept has positive influence toward mathematics disposition with contribution 28.9% and give no positive influence toward mathematics learning results with contribution 2.5%. Achievement motivation has positive influence toward mathematics disposition with contribution 47.2% and give no positive influence toward mathematics learning results with contribution 14.9%. There is no influence of learning style both toward mathematics disposition and mathematics learning results. Self concept, achievement motivation, and learning style collaboratively explain approximately 51% of mathematics disposition variation and 2% of mathematics learning results variation. After the development of discussion, self concept gives contribution 15% toward mathematics learning results through mathematics disposition

Abstract

The effectiveness of jigsaw type cooperative learning model is described by description, the result of learning mathematics taught by applying jigsaw type cooperative learning model on the subject of quadratic equation is in high category, whereas conventional learning is in medium category. Furthermore, the result of mathematics learning taught by applying jigsaw type cooperative learning model on the subject of two-variable linear equation system is in the high category whereas conventional learning on the subject of the system of linear equations of two variables is in the medium category. Jigsaw type cooperative learning model on the subject of quadratic equation is more effective than student learning outcomes taught by using conventional learning, as well as Jigsaw type cooperative learning model on the subject system of two linear equations is more effective than student learning outcomes are taught by using learning Conventional.

Abstract

The study aims at examining (1) the effectiveness of the implementation of Problem Based Learning (PBL) model using Open Ended approach, (2) the students’ learning result in mathematics who were taught by using PBL model with Open Ended approach, (3) the students’ activities in teaching and learning process by using PBL model with Open Ended approach, and (4) the students’ response on learning. The study is pre-experiment research with One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The populations of the study were class VIII students at SMPN 33 Makassar of academic year 2016/2017 wich consisted of 10 classes. Samples were selected by employing Cluster Random Sampling technique and obtained class VIIIE as the research sample. Data were obtained by using learning result test instrument, observation sheet of students’ activities, observation sheet of learning implementation, and questionnaire of students’ response. The results of the study reveal that the learning result score of class VIII students in mathematics I sin high category, the mean 83.22, and deviation standar 8.549, the classical completeness is 87.50%, the mean of normalized gain is in high category, the students’ activity is in very active category, and students’ response on the implementation of PBL model with Open Ended approach is positive. The result of hypothesis test indicates that PBL model with Open Ended approach is effective to implemented in Mathematics learning to class VIII students at SMPN 33 Makassar.

Abstract

The study aims at examining (i) the influence of learning model (discovery learning and cooperative learning of NHT type) on response and Mathematics learning outcomes of grade VIII students at SMPN 3 in Makassar, (ii) the influence of emotional intelligence on response and Mathematics learning outcomes of grade VIII students at SMPN 3 in Makassar, (iii) the influence of interactions between emotional intelligence and learning model (discovery learning and cooperative learning of NHT type) applied to grade VIII students at SMPN 3 in Makassar. The population of the study was grade VIII students at SMPN 3 in Makassar of academic year 2015/2016 which consisted of 9 homogenous classes with the total of 351 students. Two out of nine classes were chosen as the experiment  units as experiment class 1 and experiment class 2 taken by employing simple random sampling technique and obtained class VIII7 as the experiment class 1 and class VIII9 as the experiment class 2. Class VIII7 as the experiment class I applied discovery learning and class VIII9 as the experiment class 2 applied cooperative learning model of NHT type. The type of the study was quasi experiment which characterized by the treatment on the objects to be studied. Data were collected by employing observation sheet, questionnaire, test, and documentation study. Data were then analyzed by using MANOVA with IBM SPSS Amos version 20. The results of the study reveal that (i) there is influence of learning model (discovery  learning and cooperative  learning  of NHT type) on the response  and Mathematics learning outcomes of grade VIII students at SMPN 3 in Makassar, in this case the response  and Mathematics  learning outcomes of students who were taught by using discovery learning is higher than the ones taught by using cooperative learning model of NHT type, (ii) there is influence of emotional intelligence (high and low) on students' response and Mathematics learning outcomes of grade VIII students at SMPN 3 in Makassar, in this case the response and Mathematics learning outcomes of students who have high emotional intelligence is higher than the students who have  low emotional  intelligence,  and  (iii) there  is influence  of interactions between  learning  model  and  emotional  intelligence  on  students’ response  and Mathematics  learning  outcomes  of  grade  VIII  students  at  SMPN  3  in  Makassar.
