The character of students can grow and develop through learning based on local wisdom that has life values. These values are inherent with the values of character in the life of the nation and state. But to design a learning that can develop character requires an integrated study between pedagogy and learning content. The results of this study are outlined in the Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK). This study aims to produce PCK based on local wisdom that can develop the national character of elementary school students. To get a decent PCK, the research was carried out using the Research and Development (R&D) approach. The results revealed that, PCK based on local wisdom of the Dayak Desa tribe, was able to improve the behaviour of national character into unity, mutual cooperation, and honesty, each by 0.77; 0.77; and 0.86. Thus, it can be concluded that PCK based on local wisdom can develop the national character of elementary school students.

Abstract

This research aims at analyzing the students’ and lecturers’ needs and characteristics and creating the learning materials containing aizuchi skills to effectively speak the basic Japanese language greatly required by the first semester students at the Japanese literature Study. This research and development study employed Kemp Model and was conducted on the Speaking Basic Japanese Language 2 class. The research was conducted by collecting questionnaires from 24 students and analyzing the students’ and lecturers’ characteristics and needs in speaking the basic Japanese language using the Guttman scale. To create more appropriate leaning materials, a reliability test was conducted using the Likert scale, while an effectiveness test was also conducted on the in-pair speaking videos made in both small and big groups, each with the duration of three minutes to be analyzed later using the quantitative data. The result of research on the learning materials for the corresponding skills was organized based on the students’ and lecturers’ characteristics and needs analysis and produces the students’ and lecturers’ needs and students’ characteristics which are one of the elements in making development model of learning materials of responding skill in Speaking Basic  greatly required by the students to speak communicatively and naturally.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the effectiveness of ice breaking as an effort to increase the students’ learning motivation. This research was conducted in the Science Education Study Program of STKIP PGRI Nganjuk, East Java, Indonesia. The sample in this study was 25 students in the third semester who took the mechanics course. The sample used in this study was taken using purposive sampling technique. This type of comparative research is used in this study. Data collection techniques used, questionnaires, observation sheets, and documentation. This type of research is comparative which is used to examine differences in student learning motivation before and after being treated. The results of the study were based on the Paired T Test shows value probability/ p Paired T test value of 0.000. This means that there are differences in student learning motivation after being given the ice breaking learning model. This ice breaking was implemented as an effort to reduce saturation and boredom of the students during the learning process. The new thing that is obtained is that the application of games can increase learning motivation

Abstract

Visualization can support an instructional process. Visualization consists of all types of nonverbal illustrations. The very rapidly computer technology enables the development of multimedia learning environment. This research was aimed at describing the effectiveness and attractiveness of the use of dynamic visualization in an instruction on transportation system and excretion in organisms. Sixty four students of grade 8 who consisted of 36 males and 28 females were used as the subjects of the research. The data of the research were collected in the form of pre-test and post-test scores in the students’ understanding of transportation system and excretion in organisms and in the attractiveness of the use of dynamic visualization in the instruction. Statistical test showed that the mean of the comprehension test before the use of dynamic visualization differed significantly from that after the use of dynamic visualization and that dynamic visualization was attractive to be used in the instruction. Hence, it can be concluded that dynamic visualization can enhance students’ understanding.
