Abstract

Sectoral economic growth affects the level of poverty in the area. High economic growth does not merely reduce poverty. Equitable distribution of income is also a matter that needs to be considered in line with increased economic growth. High economic growth is the process of accumulation of sectoral economic growth that has undergone a structural shift in its journey. Changes in economic structure are marked by a decrease in the contribution of the agricultural sector and an increase in the contribution of the industrial sector, both in gross domestic product (GDP) and in employment. Economic growth needs to be directed towards economic sectors that are effective in reducing poverty and creating equitable distribution of income. The purpose of this study is to answer the question of how the influence of sectoral economic growth on poverty in East Java. For this purpose the panel data regression model is used. The selection of variables is based on research objectives. Agriculture sector GRDP (VP), industrial sector GRDP (VI) and service sector GRDP (VJ) represent sectoral economic growth. The results of the test show an increase in the contribution of the industrial sector effectively reduces poverty. In other words, between the agriculture, industry and services sectors, only the industrial sector has positive and significant parameters for poverty in East Java.

Abstract

One of the conditions needed for development to be carried out properly is the condition of a healthy community. Without a healthy community, development in one area cannot be done well. Health itself is more a public good than a private good, so in this case government intervention is absolutely necessary. This research tries to look at several factors which are predicted to be able to influence the condition of public health. Some of these factors are the availability of infrastructure in the health sector, the government budget and public participation in health insurance issued by the government. Using data between 2017 and 2019 in 38 districts in East Java Province, it was found that only the public participation variable in health insurance issued by the government had a positive and significant impact, while the other variables did not affect the health condition of the community. The behavior of people in Indonesia who tend to register for health insurance if they have experienced health problems is one indication of a positive relationship between public health conditions and the number of participants in government health insurance.

Abstract

Indonesia is the biggest importer of garlic in the world. Each country has a trade policy to control imports, and Indonesia is implementing a free trade agreement, namely ACFTA. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the ACFTA trade policy on Indonesian garlic using the import demand model. The method in this study uses the Eagle-Granger cointegration test and error correction model (ECM). Stationary test results using augmented Dickey-Fuller indicate that each stationary variable at the first difference level. Cointegration test shows that import variables, per capita income, relative prices, production and consumption ratios, and dummy have a long-term balance. The relative price, the ratio of production and consumption, and the dummy have a significant effect on the demand for imported garlic in the long run. In the short term, import demand is affected by the ratio of production and consumption, and dummy tariffs.

Abstract

The study aims to determine chili pepper’s supplies factors, the dominant factors, the elasticity of supply and disaster mitigation by farmers around the slopes of Mount Merapi in Boyolali District. The research was located in Boyolali District. Multiple linear regression is applied to analyze the data. The result shows that the amount of chili pepper production, the price of chili pepper, the price of red chili and the harvested area have significant effect on supply of chili pepper while the variable price of ZA fertilizer and rainfall are not significant. The variable of harvested area is the dominant factor in the supply of chili pepper. The elasticity of supply for the amount of chili pepper production, the price of chili pepper and red chili both in short and long term are inelastic, because the value of elasticity are less than 1. Meanwhile the variable of harvested area is elastic, because the value of elasticity in the short term and long term are 1,024 and 1,166. There is no disaster mitigation carried out by the farmers if volcano eruption of Mount Merapi occurs.
