Abstract

Wind energy can be used as an electric energy generator, known as a Bayu Power Plant (PLTB). The PLTB component consists of wind turbines, generators, and batteries. The efficiency of the generator is influenced by the loading system on the power plant, which includes the use of data logger and controller components. The study aimed to find out the efficiency of the 12 Slot 8 Pole generator. The research method uses a MagNet Software simulation, with variables: in the form of R = 15 resistance and rotor rotation n = 1000 - 10,000 rpm. The results of the study show that the efficiency of the generator and the circuit starts to stabilize at rotor rotation n = 3000 rpm; highest efficiency when rotor rotation n = 9000 rpm with efficiency ηmax = 90,04614%; average efficiency ηav = 88.867%. Abstract

Waste is waste that is caused by human activities and consumption. Garbage has become an old problem faced by cities in Indonesia, including the town of Jember. The small business group BAROKAH and FAIQ JAYA are small business groups engaged in the collection of used goods (waste) in the Ambulu and Jenggawah Districts of Jember Regency, which consist of garbage collectors. The types of used products that are accommodated are non-organic waste such as scrap metal, waste/paper, and plastic waste, where the plastic trash and other garbage are collected, and recycling processes can still increase the selling value. This activity aims to increase the value of selling products, income, and knowledge of small business groups as activity partners. The plan for this activity is carried out by holding a plastic garbage crusher, a special cart of chemical, organic waste, and training activities in waste management, garbage utilization training, operational training tools, and equipment maintenance training. The method of implementing this activity is field observation, socialization, discussion with activity partners, designing and manufacturing tools (plastic garbage crusher and organic / non-organic carts, waste management training, waste utilization training, operational training tools, tool maintenance training, and monitoring evaluation of activities. From this activity 1 (one) unit of plastic waste crushing machine has been produced to increase the selling value of plastic waste, 2 (two) groups of organic / non-organic waste bins to streamline the garbage collection process, the activity partners have received training-training waste management, waste utilization training, operational training tools, and tool maintenance training, so that knowledge of increasing product selling value and partner income can increase. Abstract

The cooling tower is mechanical equipment which used to decrease hot waste water. One of the factors that influence the performance is the filling components. This research is aimed to get the effect of buffle’s shape and configuration due to cooling tower performance. The cooling tower performance is described with range, heat transfer rate, and efficiency. The research is done by an experiment using laboratory scale cooling tower. The shape is varied as circle and triangle with 2-3 and 3-2 in a row configuration. The water flow rate is adjusted with 3 valve opening. Water temperature inlet is varied as 50, 60 and 70oC. The measurements are taken for inlet and outlet water and air temperature for 3 times measurements using K-type thermocouples. The result shows that buffle’s shape and configuration have an effect due to cooling tower performance. Keywords: cooling tower, performance, buffle’s shape, configuration

Abstract

The 2D numerical simulation of an underwater acoustic system undergoing VIV (Vortex Induced Vibration) which is in position parallel to 5 m distance with variation of hydrophone cable position. The diameter of the hydrophone cable in use is 0.04 m, with Reynold numbers (Re) variations of 13000, 15000, 17000, 19000, 21000, 23000, 25000, 27000 and 30000. Position variations are used to determine the flow pattern characteristics that occur behind the cylinder as well the maximum value of drag coefficient (CD) and lift coefficient (CL). The simulation results show that the characteristic flow pattern around a cylinder at each Re value indicates the release of the vortex behind the cylinder with different drag and lift coefficient values. Abstract

In the CNC milling machining process, the surface roughness of the workpiece is one of the most important things. By using the box method, the design method is to find parameters that affect the surface roughness of the workpiece. This study aims to determine the effect of feeding speed, feed depth and cooling discharge on the level of surface roughness. And find out which parameters produce the lowest surface roughness value in the CNC milling machining process. From the results of statistical analysis with a significant level in the amount of α = 5% (0.05) obtained feed speed parameters with a value of P> F = 1.79% and depth of infeed with a value P> F = 0.03% proved to have a significant effect on surface roughness, on the parameters cooling discharge proved not to have a substantial impact in surface roughness with a value of P> F = 5.82%. While the optimum combination for the lowest level of surface roughness can be obtained by a combination of 0.18 mm feed depth parameters, 180 mm / minute feeding speed and 10 ml / second cooling discharge with the lowest surface roughness value of 1.027 µm. Abstract

Airplane stability is required when the aircraft has a left engine in operative (LEI). LEI is the condition of the left engine part of the aircraft not functioning when flying or taking off. The LEI can be anticipated by using a rudder as support. The purpose of this study was to determine the aerodynamic characteristics of the rudder. The research methodology is by rudder aerodynamic analysis using Datcom digital software simulation. The simulation input data consists of: coefficient of yowing deflection of debt (CNDR) = -0.0022889 / deg, and Vertical Volume (Vv) = 0.0830. Previous tests used VV = 0.79 and then VV = 0.83. The results showed that the number Vv = 0.83 was more stable compared to Vv = 0.79. The research conclusions are that if the plane experiences an LEI, then the stability of the rudder is conditioned as follows: Vv = 0.083, CNDR = -0.0022889 / degree, lift coefficient CL = 1.8837 and angle of attack (α) = 8.3277. Abstract

The limitations of the rooms in the hospital may be reasonable, but it will be a problem if this happens at certain times when there is an over the quota of patients such as during an outbreak of Dengue Fever or in the event of a natural disaster. Generally, patients must be willing to sleep on the floor just because of the limitations of the inpatient room and also the bed. To help overcome this problem, especially to help paramedic needs, a multipurpose wheelchair is designed so that in addition to being able to be used as patient transportation, it can also be used as an examination table. The method used to develop the wheelchair starts from an inventory of wheelchair needs, concept development, and selection. The reference used for concept development is a conventional wheelchair while the criteria set for the variety of concepts are the function, operational ease and convenience (wheelchair wear ergonomics). As the central part of the wheelchair, the frame is made of stainless steel pipes. To keep the seating position stable, the swing arm is used as a place to hang the seat on the mainframe. The cross position in the middle of the frame functions to keep the wheelchair symmetrical and can be folded when not in use. Semicircular discs with seven keyholes, each of which is spaced 150, are used as a system for backrest mechanisms to allow them to lie down. The rack and pinion system is used as a mechanism for wheelchair lifting when it is functioned as an examination table. Ergonomics analysis with the help of Catia software using the RULA method, the grand score obtained is 3. Abstract

Teflon wastes are slightly difficult to recycle because the recycle products have different characteristic. Teflon wastes in flake form can used as alternative composite material. This research is aimed to get the effect of teflon waste due to mechanical properties of fiber composite. The research is done with laboratory experiments. Three different kind of Teflon which are white, blue and grey are studied. Teflon fiber compositions are varied as 0, 50, 70 and 90% of composite volume. The fibers are varied in length as 2, 3 and 4 cm, with 1 mm in width and thickness. Tensile tests are conducted for specimens with ASTM D-4762 standard. Charpy impact tests are conduct for specimens with with ASTM E 23 standard. The crack of the specimens are visualized with a digital camera. The result shows that Teflon fiber has effect due to mechanical properties. White Teflon tend to have greater tensile and impact strength rather grey and blue Teflon. The increase of Teflon composite volume tends to increase tensile and impact strength. Teflon length also tends to increase tensile and impact strength. Abstract

The ship resistance is influential to choose the ship's main engine, especially tankers that have large block coefficients. In general, ship resistance was obtained by modeling the vessel on a certain scale and then testing on the experimental tank. However, this test requires high funding, because testing requires special places such as towing tanks that have expensive operating costs. This research is intended to get ship prisoner with computerized method for tanker ship. Then the result is validated by Holtrop mathematical approximation method. The result of computerized method for speed 11.4 knots got the value of ship resistance is 86.2 KN. While the method of mathematical approach generated ship resistance is 74.38 KN. So the ship's resistance used to determine the tanker machine is 86.2 KN. Keywords: Ship resistance, tanker, computerized

Abstract

Increasing energy consumption causes problems of natural resources, especially fossil energy. Micro Power Generator (MPG) is a technological breakthrough that can help save fossil energy. There are two main parts to MPG, namely micro or meso scale combustor and a converter module. For optimizing meso scale combustor, the best fuel is needed between LPG and Butane. This research was conducted to determine the combustion characteristics of meso combustor at the equivalent variation ratio of 1.15 and 1.20 at the reactant rate of 30 cm / s. The study was conducted on ignition of the combustor meso scale space with dimensions of 30 ml in length and 3.5 ml in diameter, with variations in the supply of air in fixed fuel supply. Combustion characteristics include temperature and color of fire. Butane flame temperature in the variety of equivalent ratio is higher than that of LPG fire. The fire color produced by Butana is dark blue and light blue LPG. This shows that the combustion of butane in meso combustor is better than LPG.
