Abstract

This study was to determine the relation between pancreas insulin levels and blood glucose levels in male wistar rat models after Bisphenol-A induction. This research was a laboratory experimental study with a randomized separate pretest-post test control group design. The samples consist of 12 rats that divided into 2 groups. Each group consist 6 rats. In the treatment group, bisphenol-a is given peroral at a dose of 20mg/ kg for 28 days. Pancreas insulin levels will be examined by ELISA and blood glucose levels measurement done by glucometer before decapitation procedure. The data were analyzed by Pearson correlation test for blood glucose levels and pancreas insulin levels (p <0.05). The results showed r count (0.802), sig. 2 tailed (0.002), which mean there is a strong correlation and a positive relation between pancreas insulin levels and blood glucose levels. The higher the pancreas insulin levels, the blood glucose levels will also increase. There was a strong correlation and a positive relation between pancreas insulin levels and blood glucose levels, which is when pancreas insulin levels elevated, blood glucose levels will also be increased in BPA-induced rat with dose of 20 mg / kg / day for 28 days.

Abstract

In line with the development of science and technology, and increasing human needs to make things easier, a technology called Geographic Information System (GIS) was created. Geographical information system (GIS) is a technology which is currently a very essential tool in the process of storing, manipulating, analyzing, and displaying natural conditions (including the utility network) with the help of attribute and spatial data (graphic). Based on the data from the visit reports of Dental Clinic in Ambulu Community Health Center from SP2TP section, the grouping of patients with dental caries is only based on the age of the patient and the working area that has village maternity home and auxiliary health center, so that the available information cannot represent all of the working area. Information on areas with the highest caries population can be the attention of the head of the dental clinic of Ambulu Community Health Center to conduct a promotive and preventive service program in the area. This study aimed to determine the use of geographic information systems for caries monitoring in the working area of Ambulu Community Health Center, Jember Regency. This research uses qualitative research. Based on the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the monitoring of caries in the working area of the Ambulu Community Health Center can be done by utilizing a geographic information system, so that the number of patients who have caries in each region can be known. This information can be used by dentists to plan promotive and preventive service activities that will be carried out.

Abstract

Fusobacterium nucleatum is a bacteria found in normal flora of the oral cavity that plays a role in the occurrence of periodontal disease. The prevalence of periodontal disease in Indonesia reaches 70%. One treatment by using medicinal plants is robusta coffee beans. Robusta coffee beans contain volatile acids, chlorogenic acids, caffeine acids, phenols and caffeine suspected to be antibacterial. The aim was to determine the inhibition of coffee robusta extract on growth of Fusobacterium nucleatum. This study used disc diffusion method with 4 samples in each study group. The study group consisted of 6 treatment groups (12,5%, 25%, 50% and 100% coffee robusta extract), positive control group (chlorhexidine gluconate 0,2%), and negative control group (sterile aquades). Data were analyzed using One Way Anova test and LSD (Least Significant Difference) test. Coffee robusta extract has the ability to inhibit the growth of Fusobacterium nucleatum. The concentration of coffe robusta extract 100%, 50%, 25%, 12,5% have same ability to inhibit the growth of Fusobacterium nucleatum.

Abstract

Dental and oral health is a part of general health that needs to be considered by people and need comprehensive treatment because the impact is so wide that it needs immediate treatment before it is too late. To know the factors that influence dental caries in elementary school age children of Grade 3 at SDN Marengan Laok I Kalianget District Sumenep Regency. The design of this research using correlational analytic method. The sampling method used NonProbability sampling type of total population of 30 respondents. This research data is taken using questionnaire which then result is tabulated and analyzed by using SPSS v16 Chi-Square statistical test with trust level 0,05. The data that have been processed then presented in the form of tables and narration. The results showed that dental caries in elementary school-aged children were based on factors of time and frequency of brushing most of the teeth (57%), dental caries based on tooth brushing factor (53%), and dental caries based on most dental care factors (53 %). The value of SPSS in both factor factor of tooth brushing and dental technique is 0.000 and 0,002 which means <0,05 then H1 accepted means on the factor of treatment technique affect dental caries in elementary school age child of Grade 3 at SDN Marengan Laok Kalianget Sumenep Regency. The results of this study indicate that the role of parents and the school is very necessary in providing health information about dental caries and how to brush your teeth with the correct technique in order to avoid dental caries.

Abstract

Gingival enlargement due to drug side effects is one of the complaints in the oral cavity in patients with certain conditions. The term gingival deformity which is clinically larger than normal is known as gingival enlargement. One of the etiologies of gingival enlargement is a systemic factor caused by the consumption of certain drugs. Drugs that can cause gingival enlargement are Calcium Channel Blocker (CCB) drugs. Amlodipine consumed by hypertensive patients can trigger enlargement of the gingiva. A 72-year-old woman came to the General Soedirman University Dental and Oral Hospital with complaints of the front gums of her upper jaw and a swollen lower jaw since six months ago. The results of the general examination showed that the patient was suffering from hypertension and was taking 5 mg of amlodipine since one year ago. Intraoral examination revealed gingival enlargement, a mild scale extending to the anterior regions of the maxilla and mandible. The Oral Hygiene Index Simplified (OHI-S) examination score was 2.9 (moderate). The patient's diagnosis was gingival enlargement et causa amlodipin. The management was given to patients is Dental Health Education (DHE) and instructions on how to maintain oral hygiene. The conclusion of this case report is that patients with hypertension who consume amlodipine can trigger gingival enlargement.

Abstract

This research was to determine the difference in the ratio of the color change of the nanofiller and nanohybrid composite resins after immersion in fermented milk. This study used nanofiller and nanohybrid composite resins in the form of tablets with a diameter of 10 mm and a thickness of 2 mm. 32 samples were divided into 2 groups, namely the nanofiller resin group and the nanohybrid resin group soaked in fermented milk for 7 days. The discoloration of nanofiller and nanohybrid composite resins was measured using a chromameter before and after immersion. The results of statistical analysis of the independent t-test showed that there was a difference between the color of the nanofiller resin and the nanohybrid, namely p = 0.015. The results of the analysis also showed a change in color between the nanofiller and nanohybrid composite resins before and after soaking the fermented milk for 7 days, namely p = 0.023 and p = 0.000. The conclusion of this study is that there are differences in the color change of nanofiller and nanohybrid composite resins in fermented milk immersion.
