Abstract

In dental care, tooth extraction without injection (topical anesthetic), extraction with injection (anesthetic injection), and drilling are condition triggering anxiety of patients. Difficulty in dental treatment for children can be overcome by understanding psychological aspect of children in a certain age. Some principles in handling children are good psychological approach, effective management technique of patient, empathy, and supporting circumstances. Thus, it is advisable to consider some techniques which are successfully-proved in psychology and may be applied in dental care such as attitude development, Tell-Show-Do, desensitization, reinforcement, modeling and sedation.

Abstract

The treatment of mesiodens for children has to be done completely and continuously. Management of the treatment of mesiodens teeth can be done by extraction or without extraction. Diastema central can be closed earlier by using orthodontic appliance after extracting mesiodens teeth for children.

Abstract

Hemophilia is hereditary abnormal blood coagulation. It occurs in male children and recessive x-linked. Approximately, 80% of cases is hemophilia A that occurs because of factor VII deficiency. Hemophilia sufferers may get spontaneous bleeding on the gingival with inflammation (gingivitis). Therefore, it is important to maintain the gingival health. Dental cleaning procedure uses soft toothbrush and brushing with Bass technique. Gingivitis treatment in children uses scaling to achieve clean and delicate tooth surface. This treatment is initiated by antifibrinolytic medicine administration, antimicrobial medicine which may be administered on severe gingivitis case is metronidazole combined with penicillin or erythromycin. This sufferer has contra indication to antiplatelet medicine, analgesic such as aspirin and NSAID and acetaminophen.

Abstract

Disharmony dentofacial is a condation related to relation between teeth in the same jaw or that with antagonist teeth. The relationship is suspected due to be influenced by the food habits. Food which produces less jaw growth stimulation can influence children tooth development ang leads to the development of crowded teeth based on BPS data, it is reported that 80 million Indonesian children in the growth and development age group, thus it is very important to take in into account their growth and development associated with their jaw and teeth. The indicator of orthodontic treatment need is one of orthodontic instruments has the ability to judge. The treatment threshod for orthodontic treatment in this age group, in future, there are 3 important factors influence orthodontic treatments, (i) awarenes of orthodontic treatment need (ii) Knowledge of the coorectable maloclusion and (iii) patient complience. Those 3 factors can be succesfully achieved it clear information is given to the patients which is supported with digital devices. The use of short message service (SMS) will playan important role in future orthodontic. Its expected that a detail information associated wuth orthodontic treatment will give better acceptance to the patients for orthodontic treatments.

Abstract

Backgrounds. Alginate impression material is a material to make impression of teeth and oral cavity. Theresult will be reproduced by gypsum type III. Alginate impression material can modify with cassava starch with ratio 1:1.The major composition is algin or alginat acid and cassava starch composition are amylose 25 % andamylopectine 75 %. Material and methods. Alginate impression type normal setting, cassava starch, aquadestilata, light microscope and polarization microscope. Result. Microscopic structure alginate impression with light microscope showed that birefringence structure less than birefringence structure alginate impression with cassaca starch. When the structure is changed, the crystallite of cassava starch will be changed. Conclusions. The added cassava starch to alginate impression microscopically will not form a new chemical compound, will not change the molecule structure of alginate impression, without any chemical reaction between alginate impression with cassava starch and only produce the physical bond.

Abstract

Acrylic Resin is often used in dentistry as denture. Colour stability of denture materials is one of primary factor for estetic. Acrylic denture bas is easy to permeate bevero know effect of coloring beverages in color stability. Colour changing of resin can be occurred by consuming colouring beverages, such as tea, coffee, wine, juice and chocolate. Colour changing of colour is not permanent in acrylic resin, and can be removed by brushing and polishing.

Abstract

Mastication movement is interaction of some component, such as teeth, mastication musclary, and temporomandibular joint/ TMJ. TMJ is connective joint between mandible and maxilla. In its function, TMJ need teeth and musculary that worked integrally and sinergitic. Tooth missing case, especially in posterior region, can cause disordes in mastication movement, and finally it caused TMJ disorder.

Abstract

The efficacy of biomaterials-either as replacements for damaged tissues, or as a temporary scaffolds for the manufacture of engineered tissues and organs- relies on the ability of the material surface to regulate cell adhesion. Adhesion plays a critical role to regulate proliferation, differentiation and phenotypic behaviour, therefore consequently impact tissue development and function. Cell adhesion to biomaterials may be characterized in terms of specific and nonspecific interactions. Specific interaction entail cell receptor recognition, whereas nonspecific interaction encompass noncovalent attractive forces. This paper gives a review of the phenomena occuring in cell/material interaction and particularly the role of cell adhesion

Abstract

Preparation level prior to conduct dental filling results in smear layer. When smear layer is too thick, it will disturb the adhesion of restoration material to cavity wall, therefore it needs cleansing using dentin conditioner. One of cleansing materials for smear layer is acid with low concentration like citrate acid, hydrogen peroxide, and 10% of polyacrilate acid (Sutrisno, 2005). The use of natural materials in dental practice is an alternative and may minimize the side efect, one of them is belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L). This study is experimental laboratory aimed at analysing the potential of cleansing force of belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L) juice on the smear layer of cavity wall of tooth prepared. Ten samples of incisive teeth of cows were prepared with circle-shaped class 1 cavity design with 5 mm in diameter, 2,5 mm in depth in one third from the center of dental labial surface. Subsequently, 5 samples were polished with 10% of poliacrylic acid, the other 5 samples were polished 100% of belimbing wuluh juice, allowed for 10 seconds and irrigated with sterile aquades and dried. The samples were examined for their cleanliness from smear layer using SEM with 5000x magnifying. The result showed average value of cleanliness of the cavity bottom from smear applied with 10 % of polyacrilate acid was lower compared to the group with 100% of belimbing wuluh juice. Statistically, it showed a significant difference between the control group (10 % of polyacrilate acid) and treatment group (100% of belimbing wuluh juice). In conclusion, 100% of belimbing wuluh juicen has potential as dentin conditioner.

Abstract

Restorative materials is one of materials that always be used in dentistry. Restorative materials can improve and restore damaging tooth structure. Restorative materials can be devided in two groups. Those were plastic and rigid restorative. All of restorative materials have special properties, so they have different advantage anddisadvantage. Aim of this study is to inform about rigid restorative post endodontic treatment. Rigid restorative can be made in out oral cavity and cemented.
