Abstract

Caffeine is a drug which is effective as an anti-cellulite. Caffeine works by slowing down the lipogenesis process and accelerating the lipolysis process. In this research, caffeine was formulated in Sodium CMC gel base and lactic acid (0, 2, 4, and 6%) as enhancers. The aims of these research was to know the effects of lactic acid as enhancer on pH, viscosity, spreadibility, flowability properties, and percutaneous penetration study of caffeine gel. The results obtained that all formulas have fullfilled of all requirements and it can be concluded that lactic acid lowered the pH, increased viscosity, and lowered spreadibility. The highest flux was obtained the caffeine gel on concentration of 6% lactic acid is equal to 5.43 g/cm2 menit.

Abstract

Growth and development prosesses is potencially affected by serrounding environment, and easily disturbed by any foreign stimulations. Intesceptic orthodontic applinces is one of the many physical environments which have the ability to change oral cavity environment. Result of the interaction may produce a non stable or even stable effect, depanding on individual’s growth and development processes early interseptic treatment in children is adviced, it can be used to evoid dento cranial growth and development disturbances. It is recuired to understand bio-mechanic appliences system before interseptic orthodontic treatment is applied. The use of fixed or removable appliences in children requires a specifi management.

Abstract

Bone has natural repair mechanism, but there are some critical sized defects which the tissues will not regenerate themselves and need clinical repair. Hydroxyapatite, as a popular bone substitute material, can be synthesized from nature. Recently, ceramic materials like hydroxyapatite have received much attention from both researchers and surgeons because of their biocompatibility, good mechanical properties and easy handling. Moreover, many have shown bio-absorbable properties compatible with those of various surgical applications permitting the complete bone regeneration and avoiding further interventions to remove the device. The conclusion is hydroxyapatite was affects for density of type l collagen in bone healing process.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a systemic disease characterized by insulin deficiency. Common symptoms in people with diabetes is elevated blood glucose is called hyperglycemia. Manifestations in the oral cavity are inflammation of gingival tissue or periodontitis. The bacteria that play a role in the severity of periodontal disease is A. actinomycetemcomitans. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of blood glucose levels with the growth of A. actinomycetemcomitans in DM rats treated with insulin therapy. Methode 20 three month old male Wistar rats with weight of 170-200 grams were divided into two groups. First, periodontitis and DM were manipulated into all groups through aloksan injection with dose of 170 mg/kg. Those rats in group I were treated with insulin, those in group II were without treatment. In the third and seventh weeks, the blood glucose levels and the number of A. actinomycetemcomitans was measured. The data was tested by using Pearson test. The results showed that there is a strong relationship between blood glucose levels with the growth of A. actinomycetemcomitans. Conclusion: The increasing blood glucose levels are very strongly associated with an increase in the number of A. actinomycetemcomitans and otherwise in DM rats with insulin therapy.

Abstract

Fungal infection in oral cavity is mainly caused by C.albicans and now the case is reported increased. The increasing number of case is parallel with the increasing number of immunosupressed patients. Oleum azadirachty, the active agent of mimba (Azadirachta indica) which is categorized as a herbal medicine that has been used as antifungal drug in agricultural field, and is also found to have immunostimulatory effect in animal model. In addition, TNFα has been known to reduce the spreading of C. albicans and also important for granulocyte antifungal activity. The aim of this research study is to clarify the effect of oleum azadirachty to TNFα level in BALB/c mice cervical lymph node that immunosupressed and infected by C.albicans. This study used BALB/c mice that were devided in to six groups: which is consisted of three groups as control and three groups as studied groups. Mice were immunosupressed by given 2-3mg/mice subcutan injection of prednisolon one day before inoculation. Group 2 until group 6 were given tetracycline hydrochloride in drinking water (0,83mg/ml) since one day before inoculation. C.albicans inoculation was given at zero day. At 2nd day post infection, mice were sacrificed and TNFα level was measured by ELISA. Data were analysed by One Way Anova test and LSD (p=0.05). Result of this research indicated that Oleum Azadirachty could increse the level of TNFα

Abstract

Periodontal infection contained at many pro-oxidatif toxity components which is easily spreading through flood circulation syslimicly, and potentially acts as antigent and induces inflamating response inflamation processes is a front line defence respons to infection. However it is very dangerous if inflamation is oceure is a vital asam such as in brain and heart, could be of a life threatering. The spreading of Periodontal infection through Blodd steam is usually asymoptpmatically. Thas patients are unaware that their left is in a thred Periodontal infection is a “silent killer”.

Abstract

In epidemiology research, equipment for collecting the data majority used questionnaire. Questionnaire which is used must be valid and reliable for answering the health problems, so that prior to do the research, one first step must be done is testing the questionnaire validity and reliability. Validity is an index which shows that the measurement equipment measures the data correctly. Validity test may use product moment correlation technique for each score questionnaire’s numbers with total score (total of score questionnaire). Instrument is valid if correlation value (pearson correlation) is positive, and probability value [sig. (2-tailed)] is less than significant value (α 0,05). Reliability is index which show that equipment research can be to beleaved and trade on. Reliability test may use Cronbach’s Alpha method. The questionnaire is reliable if Cronbach’s Alpha value is more than r table value.

Abstract

TRLS is a homologous protein located at APC membrane cell worl as a functional receptor to activate leucocyte lead to onduce mentriger responsimun innate or inflamatory respons against palogenic againt. Functional receptor is associated wuth kinase respons to produce sitokyn and microbidal subtance. The aim of the study is to examine the respons to produce sitokyn and microbidal subtance. The aim of the study is to examine the role TLRs on innate immunity it is concluded that the role of TLRS is important functional receptor which activate leucocyte to induce mentriger respons imun innate or an inflamators respons against patogenic agent.

Abstract

Students of schools for disabled are more highly risky to have poor dental hygiene condition than that of the normal ones. They need more attention in order to possess the same condition as normal children. The present study animed at knowing the dental hygiene of students in elementary school for disabled in Bintoro District Jember Regency. The Approach used was cross-sectional. The result shows that there is no correlation between genders and classes existed and student’s dental hygiene.

Abstract

Background. The primary step of caries process (cafited tooth) is plaque deposition on the surface area of teeth. The first variety of bacteria colonized in plaque is Streptococcus. This bacteria will produce sticky extracelluler gel which could trap another bacterias. The most effective method to prevent plaque accumulation is using mechanical way, such as brushing teeth. Herbal addition at toothpaste is expected to inhibit plaque deposition. Tea is one of herbal containing flavonoid which has an antibacterial. PURPOSE. This research is purposed for knowing the effect of toothpaste containing tea leaf extract (camelia sinesis L) to colony amount of Streptococcus sp bacteria on the surface area of teeth. METHOD. The type of this research is laboratory experiment using post test control group design in research approach. The subjects is 10 children under criterias, who are given an instruction of the proper way in brushing teeth at the first day. on the eighth, ninth, tenth and eleventh days, subjects are instructed brushing their teeth using placebo toothpaste, toothpaste containing tea leaf extract in 5%, 10% and siwak toothpaste (positive control), then gargling twice. Take the plaque sample on the surface area of teeth after 1 hour. The plaque sample will be diluted and inoculated in agar media of Streptococcus. RESULT. Decreasing amount of colonyof Streptococcus sp. after brushing teeth using toothpaste containing tea leaf extract
