Abstract

Natural pesticide resources that ever been developed in Indonesia are Tobacco (Nicotiana Tabacum L) contains 2-­5% nicotine in leaf, 0,47­- 0,87 nicotine in stem, Derris Eliptica contains 1-­ 14% rotenone. Phyrethrum (Phyrethrum Cineraefolium) contains 1-1,5% pyrethrin, Phachyrrhizus Erosus Urban contains 1-­5,5% pachyrrhizid and Black Pepper (Piper Nigrum L) contains piperine. Tobacco and Black Pepper are the potential resources that can be deve­loped as natural pesticides because it have better availibility.

Abstract

Foam merupakan salah satu bahan kemasan yang berkembang cukup pesat serta digunakan cukup luas baik dinegara-negara maju maupun negara berkembang seperti Indonesia. Hal ini disebabkan karena sebagai bahan kemasan, foam memberikan banyak keuntungan antara lain : tahan bocor, ringan praktis, dan harganya sangat murah dibandingkan dengan bahan kemasan lain. Namun hal ini akan menjadi ancaman yang cukup serius bila dalam proses pembuatannya menggunakan blowing agent dengan global warming potential yang tinggi yang berpengaruh terhadapt terjadinya penipisan lapisan ozon yang sangat berbahaya bagi lingkungan dan kesehatan manusia.

Abstract

Containers usage in Indonesia still require arrangement for the producers and consumens advantage. Several kinds of containers which often used are papers, corrugated board, plastics, cans bottles andglasses. Containers selection are primary based on the raw material being filled,fillng process contamination, transportation, price and specific gravity. Improper selection transportation and handling will cause the containers and its product become spoiled.

Abstract

Sebagai diketahui, sampah harus dikelola dengan benar. Ada beberapa cara untuk mengelola sampah misalnya dengan pembakaran.penimbunan dan kompos. Cara lain untuk mengelola sampah yaitu dengan mengekstrak bahan organiknya dalam bentuk leachate yang mempunyai COD konsentrasi tinggi untuk diolah secara anaerobik. Proses pengolahan anaerobik ini memberikan pilihan yang menjanjikan, karena proses ini tidak hanya memecahkan problem pembuangan sampah tetapi juga menghasilkan gas bio yang dapat memberikan nilai panas 960 BTU I fl3 serta lumpur yang telah terurai yang mengandung N, P, dan K lebih tinggi dibanding pupuk organik, dari beberapa sumber yang dapat digunakan sebagai pupuk organik.

Study and data compilation about industrial water desalination will be described in this paper. The experiments have been made on brakish waters, carried out by Industrial Research Institute in Jakarta. Prototype of electrodialysis appar atus has also been studied by Industrial Reserch Institute.

Abstract

Paper sacks as a transport packaging can decrease the damage of the contains during transportation. The packaging sould conform with the design type and sould be completely tested in accordance with the requirements of the UNStandard. Experiment has been carried out to determine the specification of paper kraft which is used for paper multiwall sacks for group III dangeraous goods. The paper multiwall sacks made of three/four paper kraft liner and inner packaging LDP E film. The type of paper sacks is sewn open mouth with dimension length x width = 710 x 470 mm and 25 kg by weight. The transport simulation test of paper sacks multiwall showed that the optimum physical properties of four paper kraft liner were total weight 213, 10 gram and the thickness of LDPEfilm is 22,60 µm.

Abstract

Enzym are complex, colloidal organic catalysts produced by living cells, but unabl eto produce themselves. They occur in animal and plant life, and around 20,000 to 30,000 enzyme are beli ved to exist in the human body. In cosmetic application enzyme is also needed, for instance enzyme for skin care which can be produce from vegetables and fruits such as trypsine, lipase, diastase, bromelin, papain, and enzyme for skin treatment which can be used urease, pepsin, catalase, trypsine. Besides, urease and catalase are useful also for dentifrices and hair care.

Abstract

It's common that the waste water from electroplating industry contains heavy metals such as cyanide. Based on this research, reduction of cyanide content from electroplating waste water is conducted by CN and CNO oxidations with sodium hypochlorite as an oxidator. The result-of this research shown that the optimum condition for CN oxidations is on pH 10.5, reaction time 6 minutes which resulting CN reduction 98,6%, while the CNO oxidations is on pH 8. 0, reaction time 15 minutes. By process of oxidations, coagulations, sedimentations and filtrations the CN content from electroplating wastewater can be reduced from 3 0 mg!! to 0. 004 mg/! to fulfill waste water quality standard for electroplating industry maximum 0. 05 mg/!.

Abstract

"The role of quality control in Development Division for fertilizer and petro chemical (Balai Pengembangan Pupuk dan Petrokimia) include raw material and product testing. In 1986 - 1987, they were three hundred eighty four commodities had been tested, sixty three were not certified with mayority of salt, resin alkyd modifikasi minyak nabati and hewani, carbon active and water commodities. It is very important to improve quality of products, so they will accomplish their standard.
