Abstract

Old newspaper (ONP) is a potential secondary fibre resource, especially for newsprint production, which can be used either in combine with virgin pulp or 100% recycled furnish.Though there are a number of factors that must be considered in recycling ONP, but it offers significant cost advantages compared with virgin pulp production. It's unfortunate that methods for evaluating de inking performance are not well defined.

Abstract

Developing a commercial pesticide is an expensive and time consuming process. Moving a single product from the discovery phase to the market­ place can take a decade of work and will cost many millions of dollars before the additional tens of millions needed to design and build a production faci­lities. A significant portion of the research and development process is testing to determine that the product works againts the pests it was made to control. Part of this process is balancing the expenses of using the pesticide again ts the market value of the resulting increased crop yield.

Abstract

Penelitian pengaruh penambahan sulfit dan sorbat terhadap mutu lada hijau kering selama penyimpanan telah dilaksanakan. Kandungan piperin lada hijau kering berkurang dari 3% menjadi 0,9% selama penyimpanan 6 minggu. Perlakuan tanpa sorbat menghasilkan produk yang kandungan piperin menurun lebih besar daripada perlakuan dengan sorbat 500 ppm. Kombinasi perlakuan NaCl, NaHS03 dan asam sorbat dapat menghambat reaksi pencoklatan dan pertumbuhan mikroorganisma seperti yang ditunjukkan oleh tingginya derajat warna hijau dan rendahnya nilai angka lempeng total. Perlakuan sorbat 500 ppm mempunyai pengaruh yang nyata terhadap ratio rehidrasi selama penyimpanan. Perlakuan perendaman dalam larutan NaCl 20% selama 24 jam sebelum dilakukan blanching dengan larutan NaHS03 0, 15% dan asam sorbat 500 ppm merupakan perlakuan terbaik.

In addition of the study "Trace element in Indonesia foodstuff", chlorinated hydrocarbon pestisides and poly chlorinated biphenyls (PCB) were determined . All productra were low in total D.D.T., lindane, and PCB.

Abstract

A screening study was conducted on the contents of the major elements, calcium, mgnesium, potassium and sodium, and the trace elements, arsenic, cadmi­um, cobalt, copper, iron, lead, manganese, selenium and zinc in eleven commonly consumed dried or canned seafoods and two terrestrial products available on the market in Jakarta.

Abstract

Waste water of tapioca industry come from cassava washing, extraction and sedimentation of starch The waste water normally has low pH, high COD, suspended solid and CN content The research has been done by using anaerob and aerob treatment and resulting that COD is decreasing up Lo 90%, pH = 7, suspended solid and CN content below than waste water quality standard, so the effluent can be discharge Lo the public rivers.

Abstract

Rosin is residue from distillation process pine gum, extraction pine stump wood. It was get by product pulp industry form rosin tall oil. Rosin is a complex mixture of mainly resin acids and a small amount of nonacidic component. it can be reacted with metal hydroxide namely calcium hydroxide, zinc hydro­xide, aluminium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide.

Abstract

Pemicu-panas merupakan bagian dari kemasan microwave yang paling penting, berfungsi untuk memicu terjadinya proses pemanasan dan pencoklatan, serta terbentuknya kerak yang garing pada produk pangan yang dipanaskan. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa gelombang mikro tidak memiliki pengaruh yang terukur terhadap migrasi komponen kemasan, namun pengaruh suhu masih sangat relevan; sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa uji migrasi bagi kemasan microwave dapat dilakukan pada alat pemanas (oven) biasa.Disarankan agar kemasan untuk aplikasi microwave sebaiknya terdiri atas tiga lapisan, dengan lapisan terluar harus memiliki sifat yang tahan terhadap suhu tinggi.
