Abstract

Hydrogenation of edible oils is a liquid­ phase process in which gaseous hydrogen is dispersed and caused to dissolve in the heated oils, where, under the influence of a solid catalyst (ussually nickel), it combines with unsaturated fatty acid ra dicals. Hydrogenation increases the mel­ting point and consistency of oils. In ad­dition to its effect upon the melting point and consistency of oils and fats, hydro­genation improves the resistance of the edible oil products to atmospheric oxidation.

Abstract

Packed drinking water is a commodity which is widely needed by the customer. One kind of the packaging used is reusable packaging with 5 (five) gallon capacity which is made from Poly Carbonat (PC) or Glass. Based on the technical, and safety reason, Poly Propylene (PP) can be used as an alternative for the reusable packaging of the drinking water.

Abstract

Pada saat ini limbah adsorben bekas pada proses pemucatan minyak kelapa sawit yang berupa bentonit bekas belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal oleh industri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meminimisasi limbah tersebut dengan cara mengaktivasi ulang, sehingga dapat digunakan kembali untuk proses pemucatan minyak kelapa sawit. Proses aktivasi bentonit bekas dilakukan dengan 2 cara, yaitu pertama aktivasi secara pemanasan dan kedua aktivasi secara pengasaman lalu pemanasan. Variabel penelitian adalah suhu pemanasan, jenis asam dan konsentrasi asam. Berdasarkan data hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses aktivasi adsorben bekas yangterbaik adalah proses aktivasi dengan cara pengasaman lalu pemanasan dengan menggunakan asam sulfat 4 % serta suhu pemanasan 400° C selama 1 jam. Efektifitas penurunan warna pada proses pemucatan minyak kelapa sawit dengan menggunakan bentonit bekas hasil aktivasi ulang adalah 90 %.

Abstract

The paddy production in Indonesia should contain rice husk 20 - 25 %. bran 10 - 12 %, and rice 63 - 70 %. Rice husk usually burned to ash used as abrasive purposes for household application, and also rice husk used for burning bricks. In this case we are facing the secondary waste product which is rich in Si02 con­tent, the ash from burning the rice husk as fuel.The characteristics for rice husk and ash (dry basis) from Tangerang & Karawang especially ash, Si02, CaO, MgO, and Fe2o3 are determinated.

Abstract

Interaksi kimiawi antara produk pangan dan kemasan dapat didefinisikan sebagai reaksi kimia yang timbul antara produk pangan, kemasan yang digunakan, dan lingkungan di luar kemasan yang berakibat berubahnya komposisi, mutu, serta sifat produk pangan yang dikemas dan/atau kemasannya. Secara umum interaksi tersebut dapat dibagi menjadi tiga tipe, yaitu permeation, scalping, dan migrasi.Daya lindung kemasan plastik terhadap produk pangan yang dikemas sangat tergantung pada sifat kedap dari bahan kemasan yang digunakan, antara lain kedap terhadap uap air, cahaya, gas, aroma dan bahan pelarut.

Abstract

Nowdays the use and production of pesticide in Indonesia being increase. In agricultural fields, pesticide was essential for increasing the yield of plant. Beside that, pesticide could make ecosystem balance. Many of pesticide, for example halogenated compound are extremely persistent in nature. But recent experiment showed that persistent residue of pesticide could slowly eliminated by two special mechanism, firstly by bioaccumulation process and the other was by biodegradation process. These biomechanism were the most unique process, because it occur through nature mechanism that present in organism itself.

Abstract

Senyawa-senyawa hidrokarbon yang mudah menguap (VOC) banyak digunakan sebagai bahan bakar cair, pelarut, dapat juga sebagai pencuci di bengkel ataupun pabrik, karena sifatnya yang mudah menguap keudara. Namun emisi yang ditimbulkannya dapat menyebabkan smog fotokimia,yang dapat menyebabkan pencemaran udara dan gangguan kesehatan manusia. Pengontrolan emisi dapat dilakukan dengan tehnologi penanggulangan polutan gas-gas, seperti absorpsi, adsorpsi kondensasi dan insinerasi, mengganti dengan bahan non voe atau dengan mencegah kebocoran dari konteiner

Abstract

The effect of mesh size of bontonite clay before activation process has been investigated in Industrial Rese­arch Institute Jakarta. Bentonit clay being used was from Tambelang, Karawang. The result indicated the finer the clay the better the result. Treatment un­der pressure could minimize time and conentration of acid.

Abstract

Protein denaturation is a decomposition process which is followed by chemical physical and biologgical changes of protein properties. Changes in chemical properties cause decreasing of solubility. while changes in physical and biological properties will cause increasing of concen­tration and increasing of divestibility by proteolitic enzymes, respectively Protein denaturation can occur either through physical or chemical processes.

Abstract

There are many proceses for making salt in indonesia. But all of these have an equality, they use sun energy for evaporation (solar salt), and generally based on sea water. Only 2 small areas in Central of Java, use soil water and salted mud for raw material (soil salt). The mentioned processes will be described briefly.
