Abstract

The aim of the research is to study the growth and production of three sorghum plant varieties in different doses of chicken manure. The research was conducted in experimental farm of Faculty of Agriculture, Hasanuddin University, Makassar. The research used split plot design. The main plot was sorghum plant variety consisting of three varieties, i.e. Numbu variety, Kawali variety, and Hegari genjah variety. Subplot was the dose of chicken manure consisting of four treatment dosages, i.e. 3.5 ton ha-1, 4.5 ton ha-1, 5.5 ton ha-1, and 6.5 ton ha-1. The results of the research reveal the Hegari Genjah variety is the highest plant height at the ages of 2, 4 and 6 MST, while Numbu variety is the highest plant at the age of 8 MST. Hegari Genjah variety given wide index of the highest leaf, and growth rate is relatively the highest. Kawali variety yields the highest net assimilation rate of the age of 2-4 MST and 4-6 MST and at age 6-8 MST Hegari early maturing varieties produce the highest net assimilation. Hegari Genjah Variety shows the longest panicle. Numbu variety gives the heaviest weight waste, i.e. the heaviest weight of 1.000 seeds

Abstract

This study aims to get the best production of tubers produced by some sweet potato cultivars grown in natural environmental conditions. The research was conducted in Manokwari using 32 sweet potato cultivars, 30 among of them is local cultivars from various locations, a national cultivars is only Prambanan and one from another is introduction cultivar (SQ). The main limiting factor that is created from this research is the attack of scab disease (Elsinoe batatas), and witches' broom disease. However, the results showed that in some local cultivars from Papua did not show any attack of scab disease (Elsinoe batatas). Another limiting factor is the growing environment of plants. Most of the research materials  which from the highlands, then even if not attacked by scab disease (Elsinoe batatas) is also did not show the results of the tubers

Abstract

The study aims to determine the capacity of field accumulating basin (long storage) in supplying plants with water in the form of water balance and to determine the appropriate cropping pattern based on water availability in this reservoir. The total water available in reservoir, once evaporation and seepage rates were subtracted to it, is ± 60,056.29 m3, thus water balance is in surplus position and thereby the available water is ready to meet the crop water needs in accord with the proposed cropping pattern.

Abstract

Merauke district, which located inSouthern Papua has extensive mangrove ecosystem. In 2009, Meraukehas  4672.382 hectares ecosystem mangrove. The aims this research was determined the density and extensive of ecosystem mangrove according to standard on PP No. 201/2004 about standard quality and criteria mangrove destruction. This research conducted on September until December 2014. The methodology using transects system in sampling area. The sampling area was on coastal Karang Indah and Lampu Satu. The results show that the density of mangroves in Karang Indah, between 1200-20 tress /ha with area closures between 91.4 to 0.1%. According the standard, the density of mangrove was good. Meanwhile, the density of mangroves in Lampu Satu, among 603-11 trees/ ha with area closures between 49.2 - 0.1%. According to the standard, this area was raredensity and damaged.

Abstract

One of efforts of food diversification is used flour from tubers as a supplement or substitution for wheat flour. Sweet potatoes are one of another.  The sweet potato tuber was change become different form as chips before drying then crushed it into flour. The drying process generally occurs in three periods. At the first time is pre- heating, constant rate periods in the second, and the last time is falling rate periods. Between constant and falling rate periods, there is critical moisture content point (Mk). At this point there is not enough water on the surface to maintain a water activity value of one.  Moisture content decrease very slowly at falling rate periods and require a long time to achieve moisture content we need (about 7% wb for wheat flour). Dried chips ready for flouring when the critical moisture content (Mk) was reached. The changing become smaller particles as flour aims to accelerate the drying process, so the amount of heat energy we used can be suppressed. The determination of critical moisture content (Mk) is reached by mathematical equation approach. Mathematical equations made from a constant during falling rate and constant rate periods. This mathematical equation is derived from observation of the material moisture content.  The experiment was made of different thickness of chips and two cultivars of sweet potato which were yellow tuber and purple one. The result is lower critical moisture content at the thicker chips. Drying time is related with amount of heat energy that used to evaporate the water from material. The best time to drying at the purple sweet potato is moisture content to 36% wb and thickness of chips 4 mm. For the purple, the best time to drying is also at moisture content to 36% wb and thickness of chips 1 mm.

Abstract

Waste with high level of salinity is usually difficult for microorganism to degrade because the high level of salinity concentration in the environmentcan hamper microorganism to reduce organic materials. This research was aimed to investigatekinetic parameter in degradation process of organic materials in anaerobic condition with high level of salinity concentration. The main research was conducted with three operation conditions with inoculum as much as 15% out of total sample volume in which a number treatments in terms of adding salt fiom 0 mg/kg, 32 mg/kg and 52 mg/kg. This research was used some synthetic liquid waste (molases) with inoculum came fiom salt made location. The initial COD content in molases which has been made into liquid is averagely out of two test was 400000 mg/l. The COD content required for this research was 4000 mg/l.

Abstract

Assesment was conducted to determine the influence of the use of local feed about carcass quality, growth and efficiency the cost of the chicken conservation. Assesment was done by using descriptive analysis of the 30 chickens that were divided to 4 treatment. Analysis were perfomed using the questioner, observation and weighing, while the cost analysis obtained by calculating the cost of production and income.  Results from this assesment indicates that the quality of carcass, growth and cost efficiency are best seen in the treatment chickens group 2, used combination of local food and feed from the outside.

Abstract

Sardinella fimbriata stock assessment purposes on sea Flores to know the stock, Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY) and the level of utilization of fish in the sea Flores on Bulukumba, Bantaeng, Jeneponto and Takalar district. The method used is surplus production models, this model uses secondary data analysis of the catch per unit (CPUE) and business units (effort f). Data were analyzed by calculating the F MSY and optimal. Data analysis of fishery production in South Sulawesi province, it can be concluded that the presence of the Sardinella fimbriata population in the sea Flores Bulukumba, Bantaeng, Jeneponto and Takalar district year 1999-2007 has not happened over fishing, sustainable MSY estimated value limit of 10,000 tons per year with an estimated value of f OPT. 1,000,000 trips per year from the data obtained, the production of the highest catches in 2001 is 6256.50 tons

Abstract

The aimof the research was to evaluate the thermal comfort of greenhouse which has roof polycarbonate. The research used quantitative approach. The variables for comfort standards were temperature, humidity and air movement. The determination of the case was based on the criteria of greenhouse roof material and Environment conditions surrounding thegreenhouse. Data were obtained by using instruments of, i.e. Thermo-Hygrometer and Anemometer. Data were analyzed quantitatively using convenience standard of research. The results showed that there were significant differences between temperature in greenhouse and temperature out greenhouse. Oriented building effect, used element building and environment condition affected to temperature inside and outside greenhouse because design greenhouse was not in standard concept for the greenhouse building for tropic condition
