Abstract

In this work, CdS and ZnS semiconducting colloid nanoparticles coated with organic shell, containing either SO−3 or NH+ 2 groups, were deposited as thin films using the technique of electrostatic self-assembly. The films produced were characterized with UV-vis spectroscopy - for optical properties; mercury probe - for electrical characterisation; and photon counter - for electroluminescence study. UV-vis spectra show a substantial blue shift of the main absorption band of both CdS and ZnS, either in the form of solutions or films, with respect tothe bulk materials. The calculation of nanoparticles’ radii yields the value of about 1.8 nm for both CdS and ZnS. Current-voltage (I-V) and capacitance-frequency (C-f) measurements of polyelectrolyte/nanoparticles (CdS or ZnS) films suggest the tunnelling behaviour in the films while capacitance- voltage (C-V) and conductancevoltage (G-V) measurements suggest that these nanoparticles are conductive. The electroluminescence was detected in sandwich structures of (PAH/CdS/PAH)N using a photon counting detector, but not in the case of ZnS films.

Abstract

The effort to obtain a good crystalline state of delafossite CuCrO2 phase is becoming important along with their potential application and scientific important results. In this paper we report the result of crystal growth and their Magnetic and Electric Capacitance Measurements. We focused on two methods i.e. flux decomposition (FD), and Bi2O3 Flux Growth (FB). The starting materials for FD growth were K2Cr2O7 and CuO taking the advantage of the potassium dichromate’s decomposition. In case of FB flux growth, we should prepare the correct molar ratio for CuCrO2 pellet on the Bi2O3 powder in 1 : 6 ratio. It is found that both methods are possible to obtain crystalline phases along with their specific technical processes to be overcomed. We show that FB method resulted flaky shapes while FD method produced rather bulky morphology. The obtained samples were checked by CAD4 single crystal diffractometer for their lattices and MPMS-SQUID magnetometer for their magnetization for different orientation. We check also the electric capacitance at the range of 5 K to 300 K along c lattice direction. It is found that their single Neel temperature (TN) fall around 25 K. A distinct anisotropy of magnetization profiles shown by its crystal directions and planes. On the other hand the out of plane electric capacitance of Mn doped crystal did not show any transition at the range of 5 K to 300 K.

Abstract

Supercontinuum (SC) generations in two nonlinear fibers are demonstrated using a passively mode-locked Erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL). The EDFL is constructed using a semiconductor saturable absorber to generate 1.3 ps pulses with average power of 4.9 mW and repetition rate of 9.9 MHz at 1564 nm. The picosecond pulses are amplified by an Erbium-doped fiber amplifier to achieve an average output power of 13 dBm before it is launched into a 50m long photonic crystal fiber (PCF) and 100 m long highly nonlinear fiber (HNLF) for SC generation. Continuums starting from 1210 nm and 1370 nm for PCF and HNLF, respectively up to wavelength region of more than 1750 nm are achieved with average power of 10 dBm, which corresponds to 50% power conversion efficiency from pump to continuum.

Abstract

Iron base alloy such as iron aluminide (Fe-Al) is known as corrosion resistance material at elevated temperature. Addition of chromium and nickel to the material can increase the temperature capability. Deposition of Fe38Ni10Al alloy material has been done by using D-Gun method on Stainless Steel substrate. One of the characteristics should be evaluated is the crystalline structural properties of the alloy. It is known that nanocrystalline or amorphous structure is preferable as they are able to increase the mechanical properties. Rapid cooling treatment of the alloys from its molten state is done to give different chemical and mechanical properties, to achievenanocrystalline structure. This treatment was carried out by rotating the substrate and simultaneously rotating and spraying distilled ice-water to the substrate throughout the deposition process. From the XRD pattern of the deposited alloys, there can be seen the occurrence of phase transformation compared to as-received alloy. The -(Fe,Ni), FeNi3 and Al phase of as-received alloy were changed into only -(Fe,Ni) phase of deposited alloys. The apparent crystal size evaluated by Scherrer Method was in nanometer scale size. The successivespraying of distilled ice-water gives effect on the decrease of crystal size of the deposited alloy (37.78 nm) as compared to non-sprayed deposited alloy (56.80 nm).

Abstract

Feldspar and quart from the local source is used as a base material for dental porcelain. The physical and chemical properties have been performed. The x-rays fluorescence is used to analyze the chemical composition. The composition of material and temperature preparation of dental porcelain contributes to shrink of burning and hardness, which is increased along with the increasing of treatment temperature.

Abstract

This research has successfully prepared Nd1+xBa2−xCu3O7 oxide alloy which was developed using solid state reaction method with varying molar ratio x = 0.1 to x = 0,3. The process parameter observed was various synthesis routes that were different calcinations temperatures and sintering. In order to acquire the quality of the alloy, the homogeneity of the alloy were analyzed based on the result of EDAX (Energy dispersive X-ray). The composition of the material was analyzed in every variation of synthesis. Last, the crystal and morphology ofNd1+xBa2−xCu−3O−7 oxide alloy were analyzed based on the result of XRD (x-ray Diffraction) and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope). The XRD measurements showed that crystal NdBaCuO has been formed. From the results of SEM images also showed that the greater the molar ratio x the particle size will be smaller.

Abstract

All organic field effect transistor consist of poly-3-hexyloxythiophene, undoped poly-3,3”-didecyl-2,2’,5’,2”-terthiophene and polypyrrole has been successfully developed. Poly-3-hexyloxythiophene was applied as gate material. Undoped poly-3,3”-didecyl-2,2’,5’,2”-terthiophene was used as insulating layer and polypyrrole was applied as source-drain material. The multilayer polymers were deposited onto gold source-drain and gate electrodes by electropolymerization method. The spaces between the gold electrodes were 50 μm. The transistor shows a current amplification upon increasing gate voltages. Good conductivity stability upon increasing gate voltages was observed. Overall the field effect transistor has properties that similar to inorganic field effect transistor.

Abstract

In this paper, we present the different amplitude flatness of O-band Brillouin fiber laser resulting from placing the O band semiconductor optical amplifier at different locations. Stable and flatter peaks of multiwavelength Brillouin were generated by placing the SOA after the nonlinear medium instead of placing it before the nonlinear medium. The maximum number of Stokes are also differs between both configuration where the maximumnumber of stokes achieved was 12 generated by 1320 nm Brillouin pump with spacing channels of 12.72 GHz.
