Abstract

Cultural researchers have long been concerned about the development of K-Pop fan activities. ARMY fandom stands out as a unique research subject because this community has its style of expressing feelings and admiration for BTS. Within a virtual community of fans (fanbase), ARMY fandom gathers and interacts actively. ARMY Indonesia actively builds fan closeness, exemplified by the @bitiesfess fanbase. Even when the group undergoes military service (hiatus), ARMY Indonesia actively communicates and supports BTS. Researchers analyzed fan interactions using a virtual ethnographic approach. The research results reveal four key areas of fandom interaction in the @bitiesfess fanbase: 1) The communication area actively segments into four forms: real-time updates, fan jokes, nostalgia, and exposure. 2) The fanbase's creativity field actively comprises various fan edits and memes. 3) The field of knowledge during the hiatus period actively dominates with activity schedules, member updates, education, advice, and fun facts. 4) The organization and civil power field actively invite followers to support movements, e.g., streaming, philanthropy, reporting and blocking, and advocacy campaigns.

Abstract

This study examines the adoption process of e-office systems in Indonesian government agencies, driven by the ZI WBK/WBBM competition aimed at promoting corruption-free bureaucratic areas. The research reveals that during the confirmation stage of e-office implementation, the focus shifted from assessing true innovation to merely obtaining the WBK/WBBM designation. This emphasis on the title undermines the core goal of e-office—improving public service delivery through e-governance. The study identifies five key stages in the adoption process: knowledge acquisition, persuasion, decision-making, implementation, and confirmation. It suggests that stakeholders may prioritize the incentive of the ZI title over a deeper understanding of the technology’s benefits. Additionally, conflicting regulations present challenges that hinder successful implementation. The study concludes that a revised approach is needed, one that prioritizes user experience, public service improvement, and the core functionalities of the e-office. By focusing on these elements, stakeholders can ensure the system enhances government transparency and efficiency. This qualitative research uses case-based analysis, drawing on interviews with government employees and IT personnel involved in the ZI WBK/WBBM implementation.

Abstract

The digital era has revolutionized social interactions, including discussions on religious issues, through digital platforms. However, platform algorithms often foster filter bubbles and echo chambers, limiting access to diverse information and intensifying social polarization. Filter bubbles expose users only to content aligning with their views, while echo chambers amplify these views without engaging alternative perspectives. These dynamics pose challenges to interfaith dialogue and threaten religious moderation in Indonesia, a nation characterized by its vast religious diversity. This article examines these challenges using the concepts of filter bubbles and echo chambers as analytical lenses, focusing on how algorithms exacerbate polarized religious understanding and hinder openness to differing views. To address these issues, a comprehensive approach involving society, government, and digital platforms is essential. Enhancing digital literacy within society can cultivate critical thinking and openness to diverse perspectives. The government must establish policies promoting interfaith dialogue and curbing divisive content. Simultaneously, digital platforms should design algorithms that prioritize inclusivity, introduce varied perspectives, and foster harmonious interactions. Collaboration among these stakeholders can create a digital environment that upholds religious moderation, supports unity in diversity, and mitigates the risks posed by algorithm-driven polarization.

Abstract

This study investigates the issues faced by students with Dispensation, Probation Semester Promotion, and Non-Promotion statuses based on evaluations from the 2021 Even Semester to the 2024 Odd Semester at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Surabaya. Using a quantitative descriptive approach, the research examines problems in semester evaluations. The population consists of 422 active students, with a sample of 252 students selected through Proportioned Stratified Random Sampling. Data was collected via questionnaires and interviews. Analysis employed the Guidance and Counseling Problem Checklist (DCM) in Higher Education, covering 11 topics through 56 Likert-scale statements. Problems were ranked based on Respondent Achievement Level (TCR) percentages. Findings reveal that the most significant issue is in the "Very Problematic" category. The top problem topic is Campus Adjustment (69.78%), with the leading issue being motivation to study (88.73%). The second issue is Future and Ambition (55.94%), with a focus on identifying self-potential (79.60%). Social Life and Organizational Activity ranks third (52.56%), primarily due to lack of organizational participation (60.79%). Lastly, Recreation and Hobbies (51.40%) highlights insufficient time for hobbies to boost enthusiasm (65.56%). These findings underscore key areas for student support interventions.

Abstract

Institutional theory highlights that organizational success relies not only on resource availability but also on acceptance within its environment. Institutional isomorphism refers to the tendency of organizations within the same industry to adopt similar structures and strategies due to shared environmental pressures. In the context of micro and small enterprises (MSEs), digitalization has become a pivotal factor influencing business processes. Female MSEs exhibit diverse responses to digitalization, driven by the COVID-19 pandemic and market demands to enter digital commerce. This study investigates the strategies female MSEs employ to adapt to digital technology. Using a qualitative approach, in-depth interviews were conducted in September 2022 with female MSEs in Depok. The findings reveal that normative and mimetic isomorphism are dominant strategies, while coercive isomorphism is absent. Challenges in adopting digitalization stem from both personal and external factors. Despite these obstacles, female MSEs recognize the significance of digitalization for business sustainability. To address adaptation issues, many rely on support from family and community networks, facilitating the integration of digital tools into their operations. This collaborative approach underscores the importance of social support in overcoming barriers to digital transformation within MSEs.

Abstract

This study examines the construction of gender identity in online media coverage, focusing on the issue of body shaming directed at female athletes. The case of Indonesian weightlifter Nurul Akmal, who experienced body shaming after her participation in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, is analysed using Alan McKee’s text analysis method, a descriptive qualitative approach, and a constructivist paradigm. News articles from eight prominent Indonesian online media outlets — CNNIndonesia.com, Kompas.com, Tempo.co, Detik.com, Republika.co.id, Liputan6.com, and Okezone.com — were selected as the primary data sources. The findings reveal that online media frequently frame negative commentary on female athletes' physical appearance as innocuous humour or mere jest. Furthermore, the portrayal of female athletes as passive or powerless reinforces their subordinate status within the patriarchal structure, limiting their ability to resist or challenge such derogatory narratives. This media construction not only perpetuates gender stereotypes but also undermines efforts to promote gender equality within the realm of sports. The study highlights the need for more critical and gender-sensitive reporting practices to counteract these harmful representations.

Abstract

Women have a significant role in ensuring the continuity of teaching and learning activities in both the formal and non-formal sectors, particularly regarding digital literacy challenges in early childhood education (3-6 years old). Especially considering the increased need for digital skills during and after COVID-19. The potential for gadget addiction and abuse that leads to online-based violence encourages the important role of the community in aligning challenges as well as opportunities for digitalization of early childhood education. Aligned with SDGs number 4 concerning quality education. This research seeks for the red thread of the role of women as agents in the development of community-based early learning methods, especially the implementation of digital literacy. Primary data was taken from focus discussion group extraction, curriculum development, and joint monitoring-evaluation on digital literacy, which was held at MI Muhammadiyah Junjung, Tulungagung Regency and Komunitas Harapan on the Johar Market Riverside, Semarang. The concepts of Women in Development and Digital Literacy empowers women to contribute to development, cybersecurity, and children's rights. The results highlight structural issues like poverty and gender inequality as barriers to educational quality across regions, further emphasizing the need for women educators in designing digital literacy programs.
