JoAA Journal involvement is carried out 2 (two) times a year, namely in July and December in the form of the main manuscript is an article that contains the results of research (research articles). Other manuscript contributions can be in the form of short articles (short communication), articles review, and also special issues. Articles received will be reviewed by reviewers managed by the Editor in Chief before the manuscript is accepted and approved for publication in JoAA. The Journal of Aquatropica Asia (JoAA) accepts articles written in Indonesian or English with regard to aquaculture studies and aquatic ecology in the broadest sense covering aspects of reproduction, nutrition and feed, genetics, physiology, morphology, health of aquatic organisms, water quality, plankton, conservation, and other aspects relevant to the field of aquaculture.

Abstract

This study aimed to test the effectiveness and determine the best effect of several sources of β-carotene mixed into the feed to the increase in brightness of colors in goldfish. This study uses a goldfish strain tosa size of ± 4 cm. This study used experimental method completely randomized design with five treatments and three replications. The negatif control treatment , the addition were given 3% carrot meal, 3% pumpkin meal, 3% spirulina meal and positif control treatment. Parameters was measured using Color picker to observed colouration enhance from body. The results showed that the addition of several sources of β-carotene to the diet provide the same effectiveness in improving the brightness of goldfish (Carassius auratus).

Abstract

Sulawesi Tengah Province (Sulteng) is in the Wallacea region wich have endemic fish. In addition, the government has also introduced fish for the welfare of community. So far the records of freshwater fish in Sulteng have not been well summarized. Therefore, we explore the results of previous studies fish species in 11 lakes and their inlet rivers in Sulteng. The lake (L) is L. Bolano (Bolanosau), L. Lindu, L. Poso, L. Rano, L. Rano Kodi and L. Rano Bae, L. Sibili, L. Talaga (Dampelas), L. Kalimpa’a (Tambing), L. Tiu and L. Wanga. In addition, we also observed fish in seven lakes between 2012-2019. Fishing uses cast net, seine net, gillnet, and hook and line. Summary and observation result showed that there were 18 families and 27 genera of fish in 11 lake and their inlet rivers in Sulteng. Then there are 15 endemic species in 3 habitats (Lindu, Poso and Tiu), namely Adrianichthys 4 species, Oryzias 6 species, Mugilogobius 2 species and Nomorhamphus 3 species. Introduced fish as many as 23 species, Oreochromis niloticus the most found (8 lakes). Lake Poso (30 species) has the most fish species. Utilization of fish in 11 lake as consumption fish and ornamental fish. Especially for endemic fish, in situ (habitat) and / or ex situ (aquaculture) conservation needs to be carried out in order to remain sustainable. Through aquaculture, the breeding of endemic species that have the potential as ornamental fish and/or consumption can be avoided from exploitation (overfishing) in nature.

Abstract

Kepaet fish is the one of local fish species found in rivers of Bangka Island. Kepaet fish has similarity with Cempedik from Belitung Island. The characteristic of this fish is a black spot near its tail and a silver scales color. This fish has potentially for aquaculture species, so its needs to to find out the type of natural feed. The purpose of this study aimed to describe the types of food in stomach contents of Kepaet fish and to expalined the types of feeding behaviour. The results showed that the main food of Kepaet fish is Synedra (Bacillariophyta) with IP value 57,56%, Nitzchia (Bacillariophyta) 20,16%, Closterium 11,45% and Aulacoseira 8% and complementary food is Gyrosigma, Rhizosolenia, Melosira, and Selenastrum with between IP Value 0,06%- 0,38%. Kepaet fish belongs to the herbivore fish group because has the relative length of the gut is 3,57.

Abstract

Tuing waters become the main catchment area of squid in Bangka Regency. Bait is one important factor in squid fishing trying to captivate the target with something as its prey is in the form of smell, taste, movement, shape and color both artificial baits and natural baits. The objective of the study was to analyze the catch of squid with different baits. The research was conducted in May 2016 in Tuing Waters of Bangka Regency. The method used in this research is the trial of catching the squid. Analysis of data used using Mann Whitney test. Taking data 4 times a month using squid fishing line. The results obtained between fishing with artificial feed and natural baits differ significantly because of Z count (2.17)> Z table (1.96), then H0 is rejected. This is because the waters of Tuing in May 2016 are not the season for the cultivation of the umi-squid. The catching season of squid occurs in November-Desenber in Tuing Waters. Squid is highly associated with environmental factors such as salinity, temperature and depth of water. Chemical Physical Factors The aquatic waters against the catch of squid.

Abstract

Research to find out the abundance and distribution pattern of Bean Calms (Donax sp) at Batu Bedaun Beach and Beriga Beach at Province of Bangka Belitung Island in March 2017. Determination of sampling location was done by Purposive Random Sampling method. Sampling was done at 2 locations and each of 3 stations with 4 replications. Physical and chemical parameters measured include: temperature, salinity, humidity, pH, substrate base of waters, while the measurement of the bottom substrate of the waters was conducted in the Water Resource Management Laboratory, Faculty of (Agriculture, Fisheries and Biology) University of Bangka Belitung. The results showed that the population abundance of Bean Calms (Donax sp) in Batu Beach Bedaun of Sungailiat Subdistrict ranged between 6 ind/m2 - 16 ind/m2. Abundance analysis in general shows low abundance, whereas in Pantai Beriga Kecamatan Lubuk Besar ranges between 151 ind/m2 - 194 ind/m2 and abundance in general shows high enough abundance. Morisita index analysis in general shows the pattern of distribution of Bean Calms (Donax sp) in Batu Bedaun Beach, Sungailiat Subdistrict, including uneven category (Id<1), whereas in Beriga Beach Lubuk Besar Subdistrict is classified as (Id>1).
