Abstract

Creativity in biology education is a crucial aspect that enhances students’ understanding of the subject. It consists of several indicators (fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration), which can also be used as measuring tools for creativity. This study aimed to determine the influence of the Problem-Oriented Project-Based Learning (POPBL) model in fostering creativity among high school students. The experiment was conducted in April until June 2023. The participants of this study consisted of 10th-grade students from State High School 1 Grogol. The cluster random sampling technique selected X6 as the control and X7 as the experimental classes. This was a quasi-experiment with a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design, in which two groups were chosen randomly where the classes had previously been tested for equality first. The analysis employed was an analysis of the covariance test. The statistical analysis revealed that students’ creativity in the experimental group was significantly higher than in the control group. Based on this study, we conclude that the POPBL model significantly improved student creativity. We suggest that with higher creativity, students will be able to solve the problems they face in life better.

Abstract

The “Merdeka Belajar - Kampus Merdeka“ (MBKM) program emphasizes learning relevant to the needs of workplace so that students can compete with their abilities. However, the lack of information regarding MBKM is an important note. The research aims to analyze and review Scopus-indexed MBKM documents critically. The research focus is research trends, crucial information, and research recommendations. The research method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) supported by the VOSViewer application. SLR evaluates and analyzes documents systematically and VOSViewer visualizes relevant document results. Documents described from 2021 to 2024. The number of articles used was 29. The research results show that the number of documents related to MBKM has increased, indicating the great attention of researchers to this program. The MBKM program received a positive response from institutions and students. However, several aspects of implementing the MBKM program still require more attention. The bibliometric visualization results show that several clusters are not directly related to the MBKM program, which provides opportunities for future study. Apart from that, the quality of learning needs to be improved through various learning activities so that student's skills and abilities can be empowered more optimally, preparing them to face increasingly rapid developments.

Abstract

Given the world's continuous environmental concerns, there is a need for increased participation in nature protection. The ecological crisis of the last decade on Earth has become one of the causes of the rupture of society's relationship with nature. Such relationships can predict diverse attitudes, concerns, intentions, and pro-environmental behavior (PEB). A systematic literature review (SLR) aims to compare, study, and analyze journal articles that relate to issues related to nature as a major factor in pro-environmental behavior. The results of selecting articles indexed by SCOPUS found as many as 1716 publications. The 50 open-access publications of articles were chosen based on specific criteria and further examined to identify eight final articles that align with the Inclusion of Nature in Self (INS) scale. Pro-environmental behavior strengthens human relationships with nature and encourages a sense of ownership and involvement with the environment. Pro-environmental behavior refers to behaviors that are beneficial to the environment, such as supporting conservation policies, recycling, and participating in nature. Research using INS scale, which focuses on connections with nature, still has significant potential and should persist in making contributions to science and humanity.

Abstract

In the 21st century, students must have high knowledge and thinking skills which can be achieved through learning activities. This study aimed to develop a Project-Based Module (PBM) on the topic of determination, differentiation, and organogenesis that is feasible and effective in improving students' cognitive learning outcomes (CLO), critical thinking (CTS), and problem-solving skills (PSS). The module used the 4D developmental model consisting of define, design, develop, and disseminate, which then underwent validation and student response for its feasibility in terms of material adequacy, learning process, and layout design. The module was also tested for its effectiveness in improving CLO, CTS, and PSS. The result showed that the module was tested valid and categorized as "very worthy" as 91.6 % by material expert, learning expert, and layout expert. Students gave excellent responses to the module as 87.77 % with a very worthy category. Moreover, the independent t-test results show a significant difference in CLO (P = 0.00), CTS (P = 0.00), and PSS (P= 0.00) between the control and experimental posttest results. Thus, the project-based module improves student’s CLO, CTS, and PSS in the animal development course. Further research needs to be extended for wider-scale trials to obtain maximum results.

Abstract

The implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka strongly recommends a model based on inquiry or investigations carried out actively by students. This study was conducted to analyze the tendencies of permanent teacher students in developing inquiry-based learning and its correlation with students' critical thinking skills. This survey research uses students of the biology in-service teacher at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang as a sample. The variables measured in this research include the variety of methods used, the variety of ways of perceiving problems, student collaboration activities, and the learning instructional quality. Data collection uses survey instruments that have been validated and reliable. Instrument validation uses the product moment validity test, while the reliability test uses the Alpha-Cronbach’s formula. The data obtained were analyzed using the Spearman's Rho correlation formula. The research results showed that the methods most frequently applied were group discussions (90.08%), presentations (82.64%), and questions and answers (76.86%). The most common way of apperception is by asking about experiences (70.25%) and stimulating students to share experiences (33.38%). Furthermore, teachers also provide collaboration space in most learning activities amounting to 67.77%. However, most new students disseminated definitions of terms in the project (64.46%) rather than explaining how the project was carried out (52.89%). Furthermore, the student worksheets developed have dominant problem solving activities (84.30%), have relevance to the learning model (72.73%), and evaluation questions have led to HOTS optimization. The research results also show a strong positive correlation (ρ=0.431, p<0.001) which shows that the relevance of student worksheets is strongly related to student HOTS.

Abstract

Theoretical framework is one of the main parts of the research paper, so that researchers are expected to be able to determine the relevant theory that underlies their research. The purpose of conducting this systematic literature review (SLR) is to review of theoretical framework, compare, and describe various theoretical research frameworks in an investigative manner on the theme of self-efficacy in collaborative science learning that underlies publications in Scopus indexed journals in the last ten years. In this regard, we used the phrase "self-efficacy in collaborative science learning" on the disbursement menu in the Scopus database and found 711 articles. There were 63 articles that met the criteria for analysis. The inclusion and exclusion model used is PRISMA. The newly discovered aspects consist of community of practice, professional learning community, and reflection, which are as a result of the development of a theory of change and a theory of instruction constructed from theoretical frameworks in the recent collaborative science learning practices literature. Therefore, the development of this theory can be considered as a theoretical basis for developing the self-efficacy of prospective science teachers in collaborative learning in the future.
