Abstract

Experiments to examine the expression of grain yield and path analysis of several new rice varieties were conductedat irrigated paddy fields, Godean, Sleman, Yogyakarta, during the wet season from November 2012 to March 2013. Five new varieties of rice namely Inpari 4, Inpari 7, Inpari 10, Inpari 11 and Inpari 19 and a popular variety Ciherang were used as checks. Fifteen-day old seedlings sown one seed per hill were planted by jajar legowo 4:1 method, with spacing between plants 25cm x 12.5cm x 50cm, in a 4m x 5m plot. The experiment was designed using a randomized block pattern with three replications. Data obtained indicated that the highest grain yield was obtained by Inpari 10 (9.3 t/ha), followed by Inpari 4, Inpari 7, Inpari 11 and Inpari 19 (9.0 ; 8.6; 8.4 , and 8.3 t /ha, respectively). Those five varieties above mentioned gave grain yield significantly higher than that of Ciherang (5.5 t/ha) and provided excess grain yield amounted to 69.1; 63.6; 56.4; 52.7; and 50.9% for Inpari 10, Inpari 4, Inpari 7, Inpari 11 and Inpari 19, respectively. Maturity varies from 117 days to 122 days for Inpari 4 to Inpari 11, while the lowest plant height was 103.2 cm for Ciherang and Inpari 4 was the highest at 116.2 cm. Path analysis showed that filled grain per panicle directly affected yield, and contributed indirectly to the correlation between yield and each yield components.

Abstract

Landfilling of municipal waste is a major problem of the waste management system in Indonesia. The generated leachate must be appropriately treated before being discharged into the environment because it ivas toxic. The aim of this research was to compare the coagulation, ozonation, coagulation-ozonation, and ozonation- coagulation processes of landfill leachate at  TPA Bantar Gebang Bekasi, to classify the result of landfill leachate treatment, and to provide an efficient methodf or the treatment ofleachates, in order to reduce pollutants' content to concentration values lower than the corresponding limits. The variables selected in this research were types of coagulant, dosage of coagulant, and time duration of ozonation process. Parameters selected in this research were colour, taste,  pH, Chemical Oxygen Demand ( COD), Total of Suspended Solid ( TSS), Chloride ion (Cl) and ammonia ion( NH4+). The result of research have shown that the best optimum method of landfall leachate treatment was coagulation-ozonation combination process using FeC13 0.25% as a coagulant and a ozonator (0.25 g 03//h) for 75 minutes at pH of 9. The process succeed to degrade the value of COD, Cl, NII; were about 90,91%, 13,45% , 6,68%, respectively and category of B grade for treated leachate.

Abstract

Eutrophic waters are one triggering factor for the explosion of harmful phytoplankton populations. The aim of this study is to determine the abundance of phytoplankton in floating net cage area Jatiluhur Reservoir. Research carried out in January and March of 2009 and 2010. Water sample taken vertically by water depth, and taken temporally based on the observation time. The composition of phytoplankton and it is abundance in 2010 in Jatiluhur Reservoir less than 2009. 48–49 genus of phytoplankton found on 2009 and on 2010, just 20–25 species found. Based on its composition Chlorophyceae class more than others and based on its abundance, the Cyanophyceae class more dominated. The composition and the abundance of phytoplankton have a different pattern in every observation time and also changed by its depth. The highest of Cyanophyceae class indicated that Jatiluhur reservoir was eutrophic waters.

Abstract

This research was conducted in Kecamatan Majalaya. Kecamatan Majalaya is chosen as locus of this re- search because of its uniquenesses. One of its uniquenesses is a diversity of communities that have experienced acculturation and language. The data examined in this study amounted to one hundred and seven vocabularies. The method used in this study is descriptive, i.e. a method that aims to create a portrait or depiction on data, at- tribute, and relationships of phenomena under study in a systematic, factual, and accurate way. Thus, the expected result is to establish the description of vocabulary in form of a portrait or disclosure as it is. The purpose of this study is to identify the development of the vocabularies in Bandung’s geographical dialect, that is the frontier of lulugu Sundanese (formal language) and Bandung Sundanese (informal language). The results showed that there was a wide difference between Majalaya northern dialect with South Majalaya in phonologic-morphophonemic, such as language symptoms of metathesis, protesis, epentesis, aperesis, syncope, and apocope. Beside that, there are morphological differences in repeated words (reduplication) and compound (compositum), while in semantical differences, there may be a completely different form, but the inherent meaning is still the same.

Abstract

Evaluation on seismic hazard map in Sumatra bedrock was needed because the Indonesian seismic hazard map standard (SNI-1726-2002) was built using the 2D seismic source model and a lot of seismic activity around Sumatera occurred after the 8N1-1 7 26-2002 was published. Probabilistic Seismic Hazard (PSHA) software was developed by USGS in 2007 to gain bedrock acceleration value derivedf rom Probabilistic calculation on 3D seismic source using the Next Generation Attenuation (NGA). Therefore this software represented the newest theory to build seismic hazard map and it was used in this research to evaluate and validate the Indonesian standard, particularly Sumatra seismic hazard map. Several phases were done to gain the seismic hazard map, such as collecting and processing earthquake data, calculating seismic risk parameter, acceleration calculation using PSHA software and developing a seismic hazard map using ArcGis Software. Evaluation result indicated that SNI-1726-2002 seismic hazard map in Sumatera bedrock, particularly in region 3,4 and 5 was lower than seismic hazard map developed using PSHA software. The deviation was range between ± 0.05-0.20g.

Abstract

The research was conducted to determine the nitrogen balance in etawa descendant goat (PE) that is fed at different levels of concentrate and forage diets. Nine PE goats with average body weight of 23,98 ± 3,18 kg were used in this research for three months. This study was arranged in a completely randomized block design with 3 treatments and three blocks as replications. Treatments were PE goats fed 55% forage diets (Pennisetum purpureum) + 45% consentrate (A) ;  PE goats fed 70% forage diets (P. purpureum: Gliciridia sepium = 2 : 3) + 30% concentrate (B) ; and PE goats fed 85% forage diets (P. purpureum: G. sepium : Hibiscus tilliacius = 1: 3 :1) +15% concentrate (C). Parameters of N intake, N digestible, N retention, biological value and net nitrogen utilization were observed. The result indicated that C treatment was the best of nitrogen balance with nitrogen retention was 14,5 g/d. This result was consistent with the highest dry mater intake of treatment C. This study suggests that PE goats which are given treatment C resulted the best nirogen balance.

Abstract

Modeling of oil spill on Montara well head platform in the Timor Sea, with short-term period from August 20,2009 until January 5, 2010 has been conducted. The purpose of this study was to examine the pattern of the spreadof oil spills (the distribution, the areas of oil exposure, concentration of the oil spill and the time of exposure)which was a possible entry into the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of Indonesia. The results indicated that an oilspill scenario of 400, 1,500 and 2,000 barrels per day were obtained the maximum value of the oil concentrationof 54.0 ppm, 202.4 ppm and 270 ppm, respectively. The total area of oil spill exposure in EEZ of Indonesia wasabout 41,360 km2 with an average maximum area exposed for 2 hours and a maximum of 3:29 hours. Comparisonbetween the results of oil spill modeling with image analysis of Modis Aqua and Terra (SkyTruth) were obtainedthat the extent of distribution and movement patterns differ from one to another. Furthermore, the verification andvalidation of the modeling results with the field data are still required.
