This paper is about a pragmatic study of the flouting maxim that appears in the court proceeding of Ferdi Sambo’s maid, Susi. The objectives of this paper are (1) to identify the category of flouting maxims that appear in Susi’s answer to her court proceedings, and (2) to find out what the reason is for the appearance of those flouting maxims that Susi breaks. This research used a descriptive-qualitative approach. In analyzing the data, this study used the theories of Grice, 1975 and Cutting (2002 as reasons theory. This research also used the theories of George Yule, 1996 and Levinson (2013) to support the research. The writer found 25 utterances that flout the four categories of maxims from the source data. Which are, the maxim of quantity, the maxim of quality, the maxim of relevance, and the maxim of manner. The dominant flouting maxims that appear are maxims of quality and quantity, with 40% for quality and 28% for quantity, while the others have the same amount of calculation, which is 16% for the flouting maxim of relevance and 16% for the flouting maxim of manner. There are several reasons why these flouting maxims appear, such as overstatement, understatement, irrelevant statements, and ambiguous statements.

The result of learning process can be seen using scores from the exam as a result for evaluating the learning quality. This study focused on comparing the learning outcomes in Universitas Muhammadiyah Tasikmalaya (UMTAS) students especially one class in Information Technology Education Program between face-to-face learning and online learning. The learning process is observed in order to gain some insight about the difference number of academic performance and student’s perception between face-to-face online learning. The comparative results of this research will be described through data visualization using R programming language. Data visualization using R programming language will result in form of numbers summary data and graphics. The results of this study showed that the exam score and student’s perception after face-to-face learning is higher than online learning. This study shows around 93% students from Information Technology Education Department demanded more face-to-face in class than online learning.

This article explores Haji Abdul Malik Karim Amrullah (HAMKA)’s conceptualization of modern Sufism and its response to the challenges posed by secularism and materialism. In contemporary discourse, traditional Sufi teachings face increasing scrutiny and adaptation in light of prevailing secular ideologies and materialistic pursuits. Through a comprehensive analysis of HAMKA's writings, speeches, and philosophical perspectives, this research investigates how HAMKA reinterprets traditional Sufi principles to resonate with the realities of the modern world. Emphasizing themes of spirituality, ethics, and social responsibility, HAMKA's modern Sufism offers a compelling framework for navigating the complexities of secularism and materialism while preserving the essence of Sufi wisdom. This study highlights HAMKA's visionary approach to modern Sufism, providing valuable insights into its relevance and significance in contemporary discourse on spirituality and social ethics.

Too much concentration and attention has been given to the significant degree of professional development growth without focusing on cultivating more robust educational motivation among globalized EFL educators. To compensate for this previous research drawback, this small-scale library study attempted to profoundly investigate the extent strong motivation strategies can impart extensive support for worldwide EFL educationalists to induce more supportive and positive second language learning climates in the presence of heterogeneous learners. Thus, the researcher thematically analyzed the identical findings generated by 30 previous EFL teachers’ motivational strategies studies. With the employment of a thematic analysis, the researcher could potentially yield more credible, relevant, and contextual research results since conscientious data interpretations were iteratively applied before grouping these particularly generated findings into some similar research theme categories. All these 30 previously published EFL teachers’ motivational strategies studies were adapted from 2017 to 2024 year. The last current 7 years of published studies were the topmost priority to ensure the trustworthiness of all the thematically-subsumed research findings to be in line with the major specific topic forming in this library investigation. The thematically divided research results revealed that robust EFL teachers’ motivational strategies significantly helped second language learners master the desired target language competencies and experience more enjoyable classroom learning climates.Â

Batik is a cultural identity introduced by the Balikpapan City Government as a typical product of this city. This was done in connection with the increasing development in Balikpapan City, which is a multicultural city that is currently also a buffer city for the new state capital, Nusantara. IWATIK is an organization founded by empowered women in Balikpapan City to enhance batik art abilities while encouraging the advancement of arts and culture in Mekarsari, a ward of Balikpapan City. This research examines the cultural identity embedded in IWATIK batik art and analyses potential implications for women's empowerment and local community development. This research used a qualitative method. The data collection methods were in-depth interviews and observation with IWATIK members. The technique used in this research was inductive analysis. The results show that Preserving Balikpapan batik is a measure taken to protect the cultural heritage of Balikpapan City. Batik serves not only as a traditional textile but also as a means for presenting the cultural identity of Balikpapan City, a very multicultural area with abundant natural resources. Furthermore, in IWATIK the women's participation in strategic decision-making, including goal formulation and team management, fosters an inclusive and competitive environment. AbstrakBatik merupakan identitas budaya yang diperkenalkan oleh Pemerintah Kota Balikpapan sebagai produk khas kota ini. Hal ini dilakukan sehubungan dengan semakin meningkatnya pembangunan di Kota Balikpapan yang merupakan kota multikultural yang saat ini juga menjadi kota penyangga ibu kota negara baru, Nusantara. IWATIK merupakan organisasi yang didirikan oleh perempuan-perempuan berdaya di Kota Balikpapan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan seni membatik sekaligus mendorong kemajuan seni dan budaya di Mekarsari, salah satu kelurahan Kota Balikpapan. Penelitian ini mengkaji identitas budaya yang tertanam dalam seni batik IWATIK dan menganalisis potensi implikasinya terhadap pemberdayaan perempuan dan pengembangan masyarakat lokal.
