Abstract

The actors’ welfare of marine fishery supply chain in the three sub-districts in Kangean Islands, namely Sapeken, Arjasa and Kangayan, are different even though they access to the same marine fisheries resources. The marine fisheries in Sapeken are more prosperous than those in Arjasa and Kangayan. This study aimed at identifying the distribution channel patterns of marine fishery products supply chain in Kangean Islands which providing an explanation of the actors’ welfare differences. In-depth interviews with various actors were conducted to formulate the distribution channel patterns of marine fishery products. Quantitative survey data of 102 respondents from marine fisheries were processed descriptively to determine the actors’ welfare. Research showed that the distribution channel patterns in Arjasa and Kangayan vary but are limited in the local market and the islands communities as the final consumers. It causes the low products prices. Meanwhile, the distribution pattern in the Sapeken is able to penetrate markets outside the Kangean Islands with high product prices. Therefore, it is not surprising if the actors’ welfare in Arjasa and Kangayan sub districts are lower than the actors’ welfare in Sapeken.

Abstract

Tax affects distortion on economy. To minimize the distortion, the government canonically switches the income resources to income tax from other types of tax deemed to have the least distortion. Furthermore, the increase of this income tax will affect the prosperity of the tax payers. This writing is aimed to develop a theoretical model of: firstly, change effect of income tax on income and leisure; secondly, change effect of income tax on consumptions of private goods and public goods; and thirdly, change effect of income tax on prosperities of tax payers and free rider. This writing indicates that (1) work and leisure hours are bound with time endowment, payment and property income after tax and utility parameter; (2) Income tax increase will promote leisure, thus income after tax will decrease; (3) As individuals, income tax payers can see this change positive or negative; and (4) Free riders will get their prosperity improved from income tax increase.

Abstract

Actually, rattan handicraft home industry can play three roles in the same time, as a worker supplier, producer, and consumer. In this way, we can see the relation of working time allocation, income, and household spending pattern as a system (household economic decision). In doing its economic decision, a household always interacts with its environment. Any environmental changes outside the household, such as material costs, output price, business scale, and business pattern (business characteristic factor) will give direct or indirect influence. This writing is based on the result of a research done in Sei Sikambing rattan handicraft industrial village, Medan Petisah District, Medan. The population of the research was rattan craftsman household. The sample was taken from the population using simple random sampling technique that is 35 rattan home craftsmen. The primary and secondary data gathered were analyzed based on the econometric model with 2SLS method. The analysis is conducted by performing a simulation entails several scenario alternatives.Based on the analysis result, it is found that: (I) improving business scale to small industry and changing the business pattern to subcontract may rise income and outcome for consumption and investment, (2) if these changes are done along with any rise of material and rattan products price, the income and outcome for consumption and investment will be higher, and (3) those changes will give effects to the development of job opportunity in rattan industry, unless there are any changes on the business pattern.

Abstract

This article discuss about microfinance organizations. The research based on analysis of efficiency of Badan Kredit Desa (BKD) in Sukoharjo district in Central of Java Province. In the earlier, paper discuss about microfinance and its role in the economics development. Analysis data use Data Envelopment Analysis with three inputs and two outputs to analysis of financial performance and eight inputs and four outputs to analysis of general efficiency. This research found that from 169 BKD used as setting in this research, only 21 BKD have efficiency in finance performance and 73 BKD in general performance. In the future, microfinance organizations (BKD) need innovation especially in the system which originated in developing countries where it has successfully enabled extremely impoverished people to engage in self-employment projects that allow them to generate an income and, in many cases, begin to build wealth and exit poverty. Due to the success of microcredit, many in the traditional banking industry have begun to realize that these microcredit borrowers should more correctly be categorized as pre-bankable; thus, microcredit is increasingly gaining credibility in the mainstream finance industry and many traditional large finance organizations are contemplating microcredit projects as a source of future growth.

Abstract

Normatively, moslems economic behaviors do not rely on interest rate. Unfortunately, economic system encompassing them based on interest rate. More over monetary authority determines interest rate as a means to control economy via deregulasi sektor moneter. In that contradictive situation, it is to ask whether moslems hold on to their religion or not. We estimate a relationship between interest rate and demand for money, but there was moslems hesistancy.Utilizing ECM, with demand for uang primer riil as dependent variable and suku bunga deposito 3 bulan, suku bunga LIBOR, GDP riil, and kurs US dollar terhadap rupiah as independent variables from 1983 until 2000, we found that there was a nonsignificant shortterm relationship between interest rate and demand for money. But there was a significant longterm relationship between interest rate and demand for money. It is to conclude that moslems did not use interest rate as an instrument to hold money. They held on to their religion, riba prohibition, like Al-Baqarah verses 278-279 said. But Moslems still used interest rate as an instrument to increase riel sector activity, i.e. to increase economic growth.

Abstract

This paper examines the productivity growth of Indonesian local firms in relation to foreign direct investment (FDI). Using the survey data of manufacturing firms in Indonesia from 1988 to 2000, the paper decomposes the productivity growth of Indonesian manufacturing firms into three important sources: technical efficiency change, technological progress, and scale efficiency change. The results show that the average total factor productivity (TFP) growth between 1988 and 2000 is 3.51, and the major source contributed to the growth come from technological progress. The interesting finding appears when the data is grouped into foreign firms and domestic firms. It is found that foreign firms have larger productivity growth compared to domestic firms, especially during the period of crisis onwards.

Abstract

The purpose of this study identify inhibiting factors that make the program Inka Mina did not reach goal. The study uses regression analysis and correlation analysis. Correlation analysis results indicate that the strong correlation between the number of aid ships with determining factors such as the potential for fisheries, the number of fishermen, the amount of production, the number of ship, number of KUB, and the fishing port. Regression analysis results indicate that amount of aid ships in a region is in accordance with the elements set out in the technical guidance. However, a strong correlation does not necessarily determine the success of this program, because there are other factors that have not been considered (qualitative factors) , such as culture one day fishing on coastal communities, people's habits (gear and type of size), transfer knowledge, and other factors. Assessment for this problem, government should consider the culture aspect.
