Abstract

A nation capacity to provide clean and affordable energy is crucial for the development of its economy. Indonesia energy mix still rely heavily on fossil fuels, but a concerted effort to explore a more sustainable energy has been laid out by the government, including promoting studies and providing incentives for research in the area of sustainable energy. This paper tries to examine the trend of energy research in Indonesia, the theme of research in the field of energy and to find out which institution has conducted a rigorous research and actively producing publications in this field. The study uses data of international research publications from World of Science (WOS) during 1997-2014. Data Analysis using Social Network Analysis (SNA) with UCINET, NetDraw, and VOSViewer software. The result shows that the number of international publications on energy in Indonesia are increasing and most publications are of research collaboration with institutions from other country. Based on keywords that frequently appear which are biomass, biodiesel, and ethanol, it can be concluded that popular research theme on energy in Indonesia is renewable energy. This paper concludes with the findings on institutions with the highest rank in renewable energy publications, those are Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Institut Pertanian Bandung (IPB), and Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia/Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI). Research collaborations with institutions from around the globe will improve the performance of research and development bodies in Indonesia, which will only benefit the economy in the long run.

Abstract

About 58,83 percent of Salatiga population consumes water from PDAM (Peru- sahaan Daerah Air Minum) to fulfill their daily need. The demand for water, which is increasing in line with infrastructure development and economics growth in Salatiga while the availability of water is decreasing, lead to a lack of water in some regions in Salatiga. Therefore, a new policy is needed to solve this problem. Before that, a simulation of the policy is needed because it is not possible to do a direct research on the policy. Thus, this recent study attempts to model the phenomenon of demand for water in Salatiga with dynamics system approach since it can be used for a policy simulation. Based on the simulation result, it is suggested to solve the water scarcity problem by trying to reduce the rate of leaking in water distribution from 26 percent to 5 percent.

Abstract

Sektor pertanian menjadi salah satu sumber pencemaran terbesar.

Abstract

The stock price is one indicator that represents the economic performance in a country. Changes in stock prices, including various factors, as an example, is the exchange rate changes as the representation from the foreign exchange market. The fluctuating exchange rate price also influences the volatility of the stock price. Furthermore, volatility has different high and low regime stages that will cause a disparate impact on the outcome of the relationship changes. This study aims to examine the presence of asymmetric volatility and its effects on the volatility of LQ45 stock returns, as well as the changes in exchange rates of Rupiah against USD from 1997 to 2017. Using the Augmented Markov Switching EGARCH  approach,  the  results  of  this  study  indicate  an  asymmetric  behavior  in  the  volatility  of LQ45 stock returns. High volatility regimes are more dependent and more unstable than low volatility regimes, and low volatility regimes dominate the duration compared to the high volatility regime. The good and bad news give different impact on LQ45 stock return volatility and exchange rate changes. Moreover, the unstable economies will respond faster than the stable economies in terms of facing the exchange rate changes.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the incentives for aquaculture businesses, one of these efforts is seaweed in Bone, South Sulawesi. Government intervention to develop the aquaculture business can be seen from the incentives provided. Incentives can be subsidized (at nursery) or in the form of protection (when the product is sold in the market). Incentives provided by the government in the form of policies, pay tax breaks or subsidies, have not touched this aquaculture business effectively. It can be seen from the value of the effectiveness of incentives for a commodity that is less than one (0.67). The government has not provided direct subsidies to farmers, unlike the fishing effort to get direct subsidies in the form of fuel prices (fuel oil) are relatively inexpensive for the fishermen. It can be seen from the value of subsidies for farmers who are negative (-0.3).

Abstract

Regional Development encompasses many aspect of economic, social, and environmental attributes. In the context of developing country, the decision to fulfill these attributes are often hindered by lack of clear development scenarios and constraints. This study is an attempt to capture the complexity of decision makers for regional development scenarios using imprecise decision modeling (IDM) by incorporating imprecise information and uncertainties. A series of social, economic and environmental criteria based on agreement from multi stakeholders dialogues were developed along with four policy development scenarios. Results from such a modeling provides variety of decision alternatives based on probabilities and risk assessment associated with achieving policy objectives.

Abstract

The current positive trend of Indonesia’s economic growth has demonstrated that increasing income per capita is one of the economic prosperity indicators. One pillar of the increase in the income per capita of middle class is its surge to 56.5% in 2010 compared to that of in 2000 which only reached 20%, and it has brought Indonesia to be qualified as a middle-income country. It is believed that, one of the ways to reduce inequality in society is by encouraging economic growth and development of middle-class society. This study aims to analyze the profile of middle class household and its contribution on decreasing inequality in Indonesia using the data of National Survey of Social Economy (Susenas) from 2004 to 2012. By using Keynesian Consumption model and Lorenz Curve, the results showed that middle-class grouping by using the 20th and 80th percentile of income has a higher growth than that of the USD or portion average income approach. However, due to the relatively small contribution of middle class income growth in Indonesia to the economic growth, the changes on Indonesian middle class income is inelastic to the changes on national output.
