Abstract

Sharia compliance is the main pillar that distinguishes between Islamic banks and conventional banks. Nevertheless, there is still debate among people who use the services of Islamic banking about sharia compliance regarding to the principles of sharia. This research aimed to investigate the customer’s perception of Islamic bank in the scope of Economic and Business Faculty Airlangga University students regarding to sharia compliance practice in Islamic bank which is seen from the concept and indicators of sharia compliance.This research used qualitative approach with a case study. Data collection technique in this research used a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) that consist of four group students of the Economic and Business Faculty Airlangga University from four majors: Economics, Management, Accounting, and Islamic Economics. This research was analyzed using domain and componential analysis.The result of this research showed that sharia compliance concept in Islamic bank that has been agreed by all of four student groups of Economic And Business Faculty of Airlangga University was sharia principles practice in Islamic bank operational system. There were four indicators of sharia compliance which had been agreed by all of four group students of Economic And Business Faculty of Airlangga University. They were akad as according to sharia, corporate culture as according to sharia, lending scheme as according to sharia, halal source of funds. Whereas the indicators which weren’t agreed yet by all of four groupstudents of Economic And Business Faculty of Airlangga University were the existence of Sharia Supervisory Board , financial statements which were reported as according to sharia accounting, and zakat funds.

Abstract

Sharia insurance in Indonesia has experienced a fairly rapid development since the promulgation of MUI fatwa number:21/DSN-MUI/X/2001 about sharia insurance. However, that is still questionable is does the sharia insurance company really run the product operational based on MUI fatwa.This study aims to determine whether product operational of sharia insurance of AJB Bumiputera1912 is in conformity with the sharia rules to follow six indicator akkad, premi, claims, investment, reinsurance, and management of the fund from MUI fatwa or not.The research method is used is a case study with a qualitative descriptive approach. The data used in this study is that the data derived from primary data obtained from fieldwork and secondary data derived from the literature and a wide range of written document. This study using data derived from the management of sharia insurance AJB Bumiputera 1912 in the branch of Surabaya and sharia insurance participants of AJB Bumiputera 1912.The results of this research is operational products of sharia insurance of AJB Bumiputera 1912 were in accordance with Indonesian Ulama Council fatwa DSN Number:21/DSNMUI/X/2001. The suitability reflected from the existence of akkad tabarru’ and akkad tijarah as investment funds (mudharabah), management of premium funds based on sharia, claims fund based on first contract, investment made in accordance with the mandate of participants, then reinsurance process done only to sharia-based reinsurance company.

Abstract

Trading is a job that is highly recommended in Islam, because the Prophet and the companions also a traders. So it should as a good Muslim in performing daily activities in accordance with the guidance of the Prophet in order to be successful the world and the hereafter included in trade. Ethics of trade was good manners and behavior in the trade so the customers were satisfied.This study aims to determine the understanding of ethical trade in the Muslim traders Wonokromo Market Surabaya. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive case study method. Determination of informants using purposive sampling technique. Data collected by means of semi-structured interviews and documentation. Data analysis using descriptive analytical model.The results of this study indicate that generally Muslim traders Wonokromo Markets have understood the ethical trade based on the principle of unity, equilibrium, free will, responsibility and truth in a way that is honest and good trade (do not cheat), provide information to the customer in accordance with reality, appropriately weigh, not hold a fake offers, do not tucking rotten fruit into a nice fruit, and helping others among fellow traders nor traders with collector. REFERENCESAfifudin, Beni dan Ahmad Saebani. 2009. Abstract

This research is to know the trend and the differences of financial performance between Bank Syariah Mandiri and Bank Muamalat in the periods of 2004-2013. This research used quantitative for the research method, purposive sampling for the sampling technique, Bank Syariah Mandiri and Bank Muamalat for the sample. This research conduct the trend analyzed,and conduct the comparative analyzed with independent sample t-test. This research used seven variables to evaluate the financial performance which was CAR, NPF, the fulfillment of PPAP, ROA, BOPO, cash ratio, and FDR.The trend analysis showed that Bank Syariah Mandiri has better progress on CAR, BOPO, cash ratio, and FDR, whereas Bank Muamalat has better progress on NPF, the fulfillment of PPAP and ROA. The comparative analysis showed that there are no differences on BOPO and cash ratio, whereas there are differences on CAR, NPF, the fulfillment of PPAP, ROA, and FDR.

Abstract

Islamic Banking in Indonesia are developing rapidly. it can be seen by the number of offices that increase from year to year. This development of islamic banking can make a competition between the islamic banking. Therefore, to face the tight competition, islamic banking needs the right strategic marketing that compatible with sharia principle. The strategic marketing consists of three components. They are segmenting, targeting, and positioning. This research aims to know how the application of strategic marketing in Bank Syariah Mandiri Branch Office of Jemur Handayani Surabaya.This research is using qulitative approach with case study strategy. The datacollecting method is using direct interview with Bank Syariah Mandiri Branch Office of Jemur Handayani’s office workers. The data analysis method is using descriptive qualitative approach.The result of this research shows that strategic marketing which is applied in Bank Syariah Mandiri Branch Office of Jemur Handayani are compatible with sharia principle. Market segments in Bank Syariah Mandiri Branch Office of Jemur Handayani are from lending and funding. For targeting, Bank Syariah Mandiri Branch Office of Jemur Handayani is using the full market coverage pattern. And the positioning is done by raising the quality of service.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the decision making process of the customer of Muamalat Bank in choosing mortgage product. The process comprises problem recognition, information search, evaluation of alternatives, product choice, and the outcomes.A qualitative approach is applied in this research with the descriptive case study method. The collection of data uses purposive sampling to determine the key informant and uses snowballing sampling to determine the informants. The key informant in this research is an employee of Muamalat Bank. Meanwhile the infomants consist of four customers of Muamalat Bank. Two of them take murabahah contract and the rest takes musyarakah mutanaqisah contract. The collection of data is conducted through several steps including comprehensive exploration, focus exploration, and confirmation step. The data analysis in this research uses domain, taxonomic and componential analysis.The result of this research shows that both the murabahah and musyarakah mutanaqisah customers had already passed through five steps in decision making process comprises problem recognition, information search, evaluation of alternatives, product choice, and outcomes. The difference between two of them is revealed in the problem recognition and the product choice. Abstract

This research attempt to know the influence of inventory valuation methods and gross profit margin againts market value of trading company that listed on Daftar Efek Syariah from 2009 through 2014. The independent variable was inventory valuation methods and gross profit margin, the dependent variable was market value. The analysis techniques used is multiple linear regression with variable dummy and the equation is FIFO method Ymv = 10,694 - 0,385 (0) + 0,127 (GPM)= 10,694 + 0,127 (GPM) and Average method Ymv = 10,694 - 0,385 (1) + 0,127 (GPM) = 10,309 + 0,127 (GPM).Based on the results of t-test, the inventory valuation methods has not a significant influence. Similarly, the gross profit margin partially has not significant influence to market value. The result of simultaneous test showed that inventory valuation methods, gross profit margin has significant effect to against market value of trading company.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the influence of inflation, Rupiah exchange rate, and BI rate towards Net Asset Value (NAV) Sharia Equity Fund from January 2011 through December 2014. This research used the quantitative approach method. The analysis techniques used is multiple linear regression and the equation is Y = 12,081-1,755(I)-0,131(RER)-84,492(BI rate).Based on the result of t-test, the rupiah exchange rate has a significant influence by the value -3,017. Inflation and BI rate partially has not significant influence to Net Asset Value (NAV) Sharia Equity Fund with result t -0,144 for Inflation and -1,431 for BI rate. The result of simultaneous test showed that inflation, rupiah exchange rate, and BI rate has significant effect to Net Asset Value (NAV) Sharia Equity Fund with significance value 0,004. Thesuggestions was investment manager is to keep attention to macro economic factors such as inflation, rupiah exchange rate, and BI rate. In order to invest in sharia equity fund can contribute a maximum profit.

Abstract

There is an interesting phenomena recently that the demand of umroh serviceincreases significantly. This increase is caused by the waiting list for Hajj departure which has to wait for a few years later to take place. This makes the society to take an alternative umroh first which doesn't have to wait for too long.This research aims to find out the effect of umroh package price, inflation rate and rupiah exchange for dollar towards Surabaya umroh service demand during 2011-2013 period. This research uses quantitative approach method and multiple linear regression analysis.The result shows that the umroh packageprice, inflation rate, and rupiah exchange for dollar variables simultaneously do not have significant effect towards Surabaya umroh service demand during 2011-2013 period. For addition, simultaneously the umroh package price, inflation rate, and exchange rate variables give negative effect towards Surabaya umroh service demand during 2011-2013 period.Umroh service bureaus especially those which reside in Surabaya need to maintain and improve their performances well in order to provide satisfaction and loyalty of the jamaah to increase the demand of umroh service. REFERENCES Fakhrudin. 2008. Abstract

This research was aimed to investigate the effect of Islamic work motivation to the employee Islamic work ethics on Jatim Sharia Bank Branch Surabaya. This study used questionnaires in primary data collection and quantitative approaches. Experiments were done using simple linear regression, where the dependent variable (Y) is the employee Islamic work ethics and the independent variable (X) is Islamic work motivation. The research sample were taken by census. The research sample was 54 employees working in Jatim Sharia Bank Branch Surabaya.Based on the findings, it obtained simple linear regression equation : Y = 2,739 + 0,353X. The magnitude of the influence of Islamic work ethics to the employees Islamic work ethics on Jatim Sharia Branch Surabaya is the R2 value of 0,446 (44,6%). The result show that employee Islamic work ethics on Jatim Sharia Bank Branch Surabaya significantly affect by Islamic work motivation.
