Abstract

Labuan Bajo is one of Indonesia’s national priority destinations, known for its natural beauty and unique ecosystem. However, several issues raised by tourists—such as complaints regarding prices, infrastructure, and environmental cleanliness—may affect its image and tourism sustainability. This study aims to analyze tourist perceptions of Labuan Bajo based on 7,000 reviews from TripAdvisor and Google Maps obtained through web crawling. Sentiment labeling was conducted using a Lexicon-Based approach, while classification was performed using the Naïve Bayes and C4.5 algorithms, both with and without the Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (SMOTE). The results showed 4,374 positive, 2,769 negative, and 1,804 neutral reviews. Based on the CRISP-DM method, Naïve Bayes achieved the highest accuracy of 88%, compared to 78% for C4.5. Dominant positive terms such as beautiful, stunning, and sustainable highlight Labuan Bajo’s natural strengths, while negative terms like price, toilet, and trash indicate areas requiring improvement. The findings provide strategic recommendations to enhance tourism management and service quality toward sustainable tourism development.

Abstract

A bad spot is an area where signal quality fails to meet Key Performance Indicator (KPI) standards, due to factors such as limited channel capacity, BTS malfunctions, long distances from the BTS, or topographical interference. This study investigates a 4G LTE bad spot case in the rural area of Romanglasa Subdistrict where RSRP levels range from -100 dBm to -120 dBm. Although several e-nodeBs are present around the area, physical obstructions like trees and buildings continue to degrade signal quality. The objective of this study is to effectively implement a Compact Mobile Station (COMBAT), analyze the installation process, and evaluate the network's performance after deployment. The methods used include drive testing, BTS site surveys, simulations, and network design. The installation was carried out in collaboration with Telkomsel using Combat-571 as the cell ID. Following deployment, network quality measurements and post-drive testing were conducted. The results showed significant improvements: download throughput reached 47.6 Mbps, upload 28.4 Mbps, jitter decreased to 7 ms, packet loss dropped to 0%, and latency was reduced to 21 ms. Post-installation RSRP also improved to between -80 dBm and -100 dBm, categorized as good to fair according to KPI standards.

Abstract

This research aims to develop an Internet of Things (IoT)-based predictive maintenance system for AC electric motors used in water treatment plants. The primary objective is to reduce unplanned downtime and enhance operational reliability by enabling proactive scheduling of maintenance activities. Research design adopts a research and development approach, beginning with a preliminary study, followed by system design, prototype implementation, data acquisition, and performance validation. The system integrates vibration, temperature, and rotation sensors with an Arduino/ESP32 microcontroller for real-time data collection. Data is transmitted via MQTT protocol to a cloud platform for storage and analysis. Machine learning algorithms, including Random Forest and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), are applied to classify equipment condition and detect anomalies. To address the limitation of failure data, Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) are employed to generate synthetic training data, improving model robustness. Experimental results show that vibration levels reached 3.9 mm/s, temperature rose to 95 °C, and motor speed dropped to 1420 RPM, all of which signaled potential failure before actual breakdown. The LSTM model achieved an F1-score of 0.92, which increased to 0.95 when combined with GAN-based data augmentation, outperforming Random Forest. In conclusion, the proposed system demonstrates that integrating IoT with multi-sensor data and advanced machine learning enables early fault detection in AC motors. This approach offers a cost-effective and scalable solution for predictive maintenance, reducing downtime and extending equipment lifespan in water treatment operations.

Abstract

The increasing amount of industrial and agricultural waste necessitates innovation in the use of environmentally friendly alternative materials in the construction sector. This research aims to analyze the influence of varying cement, sand, seashell powder, and coconut fiber powder compositions on the compressive strength and porosity of paving blocks using the Taguchi method and ANOVA. The experimental design uses an orthogonal array L16 (4⁴), resulting in 16 experimental combinations. The test results indicate that coconut husk powder is the most significant factor influencing porosity, while other factors have a relatively small effect. The optimum parameters for porosity were obtained at a cement composition of 643.24 g, sand 915.84 g, seashell powder 686.883 g, and coconut fiber powder 0 g. Meanwhile, the optimum compressive strength was achieved at cement 643.23 g, sand 2289.60 g, seashell powder 228.961 g, and coconut fiber powder 0 g. Regression analysis showed that the model had a good fit with an R² of 0.8967 for porosity and 0.5625 for compressive strength. This research proves that utilizing clamshell and coconut husk waste has the potential to produce high-quality paving blocks while also supporting sustainable waste management.

Abstract

Inventory plays a pivotal role in a company's logistics, serving both to fulfill external customer demands and to enhance internal production efficiency. However, PT. XYZ in Medan did not address yet several cost factors that could significantly influence the overall procurement expenses of spare parts, particularly given that certain spare parts carry notably high purchase prices. While PT. XYZ has been placing orders for spare parts, these are typically initiated only when stock is depleted, based on the assumption that spare parts fall under the category of slow-moving goods. Consequently, it is imperative to conduct an inventory analysis to identify gap between the existing conditions and the outcomes derived from the proposed methodological approach. The methodology used in this study is Always, Better, Control (ABC) method to classify spare parts based on their cost percentage and Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method to analyze the economic order size, order frequency and optimal ordering time. From the results of data processing that has been done, there are 7 types of spare parts that fall into category A and there is a decrease in Total Variable Cost (TVC) ranging from 13% to 40% from existing conditions. Ordering costs consist of telecommunications costs, labor costs, fuel costs and loading/unloading costs; while storage costs consist of electricity costs and maintenance costs. Scheduling the time of reordering or sending purchase order (PO) to the vendor, the number of spare part units to be ordered and the estimated arrival of spare parts are carried out based on the EOQ calculation that has been compared and adjusted to the previous existing conditions.
