Abstract

This study aims to synthesize zeolite from coal combustion bottom ash using the hydrothermal method and evaluate its effectiveness in adsorbing heavy metals—specifically cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), iron (Fe), and copper (Cu). Bottom ash was treated via alkali fusion at 750°C, followed by acid activation with 1 M HCl to extract silica and alumina. Zeolite synthesis was hydrothermal at 100°C with 6, 12, and 24 hours of crystallization. Sodium aluminate (NaAlO2) was added to adjust the Si/Al ratio and enhance structural stability. The synthesized zeolites were characterized using X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The sample crystallized for 12 hours and exhibited the highest SiO2/Al2O3 ratio, measuring 3.73. Adsorption tests revealed optimal performance at pH 5–9 and 120 minutes contact time, achieving removal efficiencies of 97.84% for Pb2+, 99.47% for Cd2+, 99.73% for Fe2+, and 99.91% for Cu2+. These findings demonstrate that bottom ash-derived zeolite is a promising, low-cost adsorbent for heavy metal removal from wastewater. It supports use in sustainable and long-term industrial effluent treatment systems.

Abstract

There are many ways for preserving wood through the use of agricultural or biomass waste like bamboo. Its utilization can be used as a safe natural wood preservative for the community. In order to obtain a qualified liquid smoke and consumed-safe it is necessary to engineer the condenser conduit pipes. As a consequence, this study needs a performance test of condenser conduit pipe on pyrolysis reactor device. The purpose of this study is to determine the performance quality of pyrolysis reactor device based on the optimum of long condenser conduit pipe and to determine the reaction order. In this study, the pyrolysis process of 2,5 kgs bamboo was using a pyrolysis reactor in optimum operating conditions, conducted with condenser conduit pipes size 23 cm, 33 cm, 43 cm, 53 cm, 63 cm and 73 cm at temperature of 250ºC for 2 hours. The results of this study indicate that the optimal liquid smoke yield is obtained from 23 cm long condenser conduit pipe (21.66%); the mass of lost material is 52.49% found in 73 cm pipe; the performance of the pyrolysis reactor is 206.25 found in 23 cm pipe g/hour.m; and the reaction occured was included as the first order of reaction.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the performance of teachers in applying all competencies in the learning process, mentoring in school education and planning for continuous professional development for teachers. Where in the process of assessing teacher performance at the school, they still use manual applications with a simple addition method and the lack of speed in processing teacher performance assessments is increasing from year to year. To solve these problems, the Weighted Product method was chosen, this method helps teacher performance appraisal decisions so that they get the best results, then implements the method into an application decision support system to speed up the assessment process. Then the final result of this study with a calculation accuracy rate of 100% based on manual calculations and calculations on the application with the results agreeing to the decision support system made.

Abstract

Global coffee production generates significant amounts of spent coffee grounds (SCG), often discarded, creating environmental challenges. Cellulose, a major component of SCG, can be extracted for industrial applications, such as food packaging and bioplastics. This research aims to determine the optimal cellulose purification time for maximizing purity and characterize the physicochemical properties of the extracted cellulose for food industry use. The study investigates the effect of different purification times on cellulose purity. The highest purity (74.40%) was obtained at 180 minutes, with the extracted cellulose showing high crystallinity and favorable properties, such as low moisture content (3.49%), water absorption capacity (6.17%), and bulk density (0.2871 g/cm³). Characterization using SEM revealed the morphology of cellulose crystals, and analysis (Carr’s index: 15.33%, Hausner ratio: 1.1811) confirmed the material’s suitability for biocomposites in food applications. Color analysis (L*: 76.34, C*: 28.52, h*: 16.46, WI: 62.94) also highlighted the material’s potential for use in food formulations. This research provides valuable data for further applications of cellulose derived from SCG.

Abstract

The alternative energy that has been developed today, one of which is biodiesel, biodiesel is the fuel process of an updated source. One of them utilizes kesambi seed oil as a raw material for making, this is done because of the many results of the kesambi tree in Indonesia so that it has great potential as a biodiesel raw material. This research focuses on the development of the ZnO catalyst with MWCNTS as a buffer for the transesterification of Kesambi seed oil. The purpose of this research is to study the type of impregnation time, sulfonation time And the appointer is stirring during the transesterification process on product yield results. Catalyst is characterized by X-Ray Diffraction Analysis Test (X-RD, Brunauer Emmett-Teller (BET), Scanning Electron Microscopy Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (SEM-EDX), and Fourier Transform Spectroscopy Infra-Red (FTIR). The results showed the highest yield of 85.46% obtained at a variable of 12-hour impregnation time, with a 4-hour sulfonation time with a temperature of calcination of 500 ° C, the calcination time of 4 hours, the molar ratio of oil against methanol 1 15, the transesterification reaction temperature was 65 ° C, and time under 7-hour transesterification reactions.

Abstract

This study identifies and reduces waste in the cooking oil production process at PT X by integrating Lean Six Sigma with Value Stream Analysis Tools (VALSAT) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). VALSAT is used to classify value-added and non-value-added activities, while FMEA prioritizes waste based on Risk Priority Number (RPN). The results show that defects are the most dominant waste (RPN 294), followed by waiting and inventory. Process mapping reveals a total lead time of 370 minutes, in which 60 minutes are non-value added. Improvement recommendations include scheduling preventive maintenance, aligning raw material orders with actual demand, optimizing operator coordination, applying FIFO in inventory handling, and increasing transportation efficiency. This integrative approach provides a structured method for identifying critical waste sources and supports operational efficiency improvement in food-processing industries.

Abstract

The Angle of Pull (AOP) is an essential concept in physiotherapy since it determines the efficiency of rehabilitation exercises by ensuring targeted muscle engagement and optimal force application. Therefore, precise quantification of AOP as well as identification of Range of Motion (ROM) and resistance points is critical when establishing appropriate rehabilitation strategies. However, traditional methods like the universal goniometer are most used but there are certain limitations such as the parallax error and inter-rater variability which can impact the precision required in clinical settings. This mini review examines the foundational elements of ROM, baseline muscle strength, and the resistor point in determining AOP. It also assesses the strength and weakness of the available tools, like the digital HALO goniometer and the AnglePro which is the goniometer that also has laser pointer for identifying the point of resistance. Despite technological advancements, current devices still exhibit significant limitations such as high costs, dependency on traditional goniometers, and lack of comprehensive functionality. The review points out the need for a new precise device that could capture the ROM, AOP and identify specific resistance points as effectively as a digital device but at a lower cost. Such innovations would facilitate the efficiency, accuracy and effectiveness of physiotherapy practice to improve patient results. Moreover, further exploration in this area is needed to eliminate the current shortcomings and develop the above strategies.
