Abstract

K-Means is a well known algorithms of clusteing. It generates some groups based on degree of similarity. Simplicity of implementation, ease of interpretation, adaptability to sparse data, linear complexity, speed of convergence, and versatile in almost every aspect are noble characteristics of this algorithm. However, this algorithm is very sensitive on defining initial centroids process. Giving a bad initial centroid always produces a bad quality output. Due to this weakness, it is recommended to make some runs with different initial centroids and select the initial centroid that produces cluster with minimum error. However, this procedure is hard to achieve a satisfying result. This paper introduces a new approach to minimize the initial centroid problem of K-Means algorithm. This approach focus on centroid updating stage in K-Means algorithm by applying minimum forest graph to produce better new centroids. Based on gain information and Dunn index values, this approach provided a better result than Forgy method when this approach tested on both well distributed and noisy dataset. Moreover, from the experiments with two dimentional data, the proposed approach produced consisten members of each cluster in every run, where it could not be found in Forgy method.

Abstract

In the world of education, there is always an increase that must be made. The increase is not only in terms of science, but from various sides that support the education world. Every educational institution competes to do this to improve quality in providing education to their students. In this paper, the author takes a case study at Bimbel Cerdas Ceria Tangerang. The registration system at Bimbel Cerdas Ceria still uses a manual system. The system requires prospective students to come directly and do the registration process. Therefore, it is necessary to apply a new student registration web that is able to overcome the problem. The web application is made using the Waterfall method for the analysis stages. With the application of the web, prospective students do not need to come directly to register. Registration confirmation can use e-mail so that no one can confirm the registration. Payments also use ATM so parents don't need to come directly to just make payments.

Abstract

Aspects of usability or usability in the user's point of view when using and utilizing a product. The use of an inappropriate method in developing the design will increase the number of requests to improve the product after it is finished. Inappropriate method of selecting methods for design development Usually occurs in applications based on Graphical User Interface (GUI), e-commerce websites, cellular services, and also technology in the field of education called e-learning. E-learning is one technology that develops a distance learning system that provides a variety of solutions where the Internet is the medium. Supported by the development of technology supported by smartphones can also be used for the learning process. With the existence of smartphones, students will more easily access learning materials, and teachers will also be easier to share the material to be received. To support the effort to obtain the level of user satisfaction without leaving the specific purpose of making the application itself a user centered design (UCD) method can be applied. UCD is a method that helps users. With the application of this method users will be satisfied and comfortable when using with the system. Based on the concepts of the UCD method and the problems that occur in e-learning especially the University of Jember E-Learning application, it can be seen that the UCD method is suitable to be applied in the development of mobile-based Universitas Jember e-learning applications with the aim of making it easier students and lecturers in the learning process at the University of Jember. This research was conducted in 3 stages, namely data collection, analysis, and system development. The data collection phase consists of literature studies, and questionnaires. The analysis phase is done by processing the data from the questionnaire and conducting usability testing. The development phase is done by building a mobile-based e-learning application. The results of this study are the University of Jember M-Learning application.

Abstract

East Java regional development Bank, known as the Bank of East Java was founded on august 17th 1951 in Surabaya. Bank of East Java has a lot of products and services for both civil society or non- civilservants.Oneofthemistheproduct elektronicservisservantcard(KPE).Datamanagementservices servants electronic card is very simple, make inefficient in terms of time and effort because the input file and file storage are still using manual system, as well as to disseminate announcements or events newest still using posters and other print media. File and information would be usefull if it is delivered to the user with an interest in the proper way. Currently, almost all file and information submitted throught the internet network. Security and confidentiality of file submitted via the internet is vulnerable to file theft by unauthorized parties. One way to maitain the security and confidentiality of such file is by using cryptographic methods. There are many cryptographic algorithms that are used to secure the file. One of which is an Algorithm Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). AES algorithm used in the reseacrh, namely AES-128 algorithm to encode digital files. So that the information contained in the file become more secure after converted into the file encrypt because the information can only be read by the party entitled. Employee card elektorinic information system (SI-KPE) and android based Mobile KPE using AES-128 method is a solution for Bank of East Java Jember branch

Abstract

The distribution of goods is closely related to the cost of transportation. The transportation method used by the company will have a major impact on the company's profit. If the profit obtained by the company can be maximized, the company will be able to expand its business to become even bigger. The problem solving step is the determination of optimization criteria and optimization model development. These steps are used to optimize the cost of shipping goods to get maximum profit. The research obtained results namely the cost of shipping goods using the company's NWC method was optimal. It can be concluded that the method of shipping goods that has been carried out by the company has been optimal so that it can continue to be used for further business development, as well as providing an overview that should be done by the company.

Abstract

K-Means is one of algorithms based on partitioning clustering method, particularly on sum-of-squared error criterion. It generates a single partition data for a single group of data that has high degree in similarity. This method has some advantages such as linear complexity, ease of interpretation, simplicity of implementation, speed of convergence, adaptability to sparse data, and versatile in almost every aspect. However, this method also has some weaknesses, such as very sensitive to initial centroids (center) that drives the quality of clustering output. Although there is a recommendation to make some runs with different initial centroids and select the initial centroid that produces cluster with minimum error, frequently, this procedure does not achieve a satisfying result. This paper introduces a new method to overcome this problem through enhancing the refinement mechanism in K-Means algorithm. This method focuses on rebuilding new centroids using minimum forest graphs to reproduce better models in the refinement mechanism. Based on the conducted experiments, the proposed method yielded better value of gain information and Dunn index than Forgy method in both relatively well distributed and relatively noisy dataset. Furthermore, the members of each cluster in every run of the conducted experiments were consistent for the proposed method, while it was not happen for Forgy method.
