Abstract

The research about the utilization of gemor stem skin oil (Alseodaphne spp) as an alternative natural repellent mat has been done. This research aim to obtain essential oils from the bark  using distillation and extraction method and used  as repellent active ingredient. The result showed  that the product is  efficient and biodegradable  proven by a test activity against the mosquito (Aedes aegypti). Varying the concentrations used are 10%, 20%, and 30% with the time observations to 02, 04, 06 and 08 hours after treatment. The results showed that anti-mosquito activity tends to increase with higer concentration. The use of 30% doses of Gemor bark  essential oil is  effective. The Effectiveness of the product against the mosquito (Aedes aegypti) and the economid value were compared with the innovator product containing DEET (N, N-diethyl-m-toluamid). Abstract

Timber Acacia mangium (Acacia mangium, Willd) for Furniture. The study aims to determine the mechanical and physical properties and the decorative value (color and fiber) wood of acacia mangium with using finishing materials. This type of finishing material used is ultran lasur natural dof ,ultran lasur classic teak, aqua politur clear dof, aqua politur akasia dan aqua politur cherry. After finishing the wood is stored for 3 months. Test parameters were observed, namely, physical and mechanical properties of wood, adhesion of finishing materials, color and appearance of the fiber, and timber dimensions expansion. The results showed that the mechanical physical properties of acacia wood qualified SNI. 01-0608-89 about the physical and mechanical properties of wood for furniture, air dry the moisture content from 13.78 to 14.89%, flexural strength from 509.25 to 680.50 kg/cm2, and compressive strength parallel to fiber 342.1 - 412.9 kg/cm2. Finishing the treatment process using five types of finishing materials can increase the decorative value (color and fiber) wood. Before finishing the process of acacia mangium wood has the appearance of colors and fibers and less attractive (scale scores 2-3), after finishing acacia wood fibers have the appearance of colors and interesting and very interesting (scale 4-5).Keywords: mangium wood, mechanical properties, decorative value, finishing, furniture.

Abstract

Rubber wood and bamboo is an important natural resource to be developed as residential and industrial raw materials which are the raw material of commercial products. The presence of rubber wood and bamboo needs to be supported by the preservation and processing industry in order to be optimally utilized. Rubber wood has physical properties, mechanical and chemical equivalent of natural forest wood. properties of rubber wood used in rural as well fuel wood rafters to corral. While bamboo also has certain advantages compared to wood because it is easily preserved, processed and have a high elasticity While bamboo is used as a wall of the house after the split and created a kind of bamboo called palupuhan/gedek. Made simple, just the process of drying in the hot sun. Durability palupuhan/gedek could reach 10 years, but must be used in place are protected from rain. Without is bamboo used in as rafters to corral, ring,  rafter and raw material of fishery.Keywords : rubber wood, bamboo, potency, characteristic, preservative.

Abstract

Indonesia which is a net-exporter in of fuel oil has turn become a net importer of oil since 2009. It is ironic because it occurs at the worlds oil price is unstable and tends to increase. It is time for Indonesia to develop alternative energy sources and bio-diesel oil from the seeds of  nyamplung (Calophylum inophylum L.). The purpose of this researh was to determine the magnitude of the yield of oil from the seeds of the produced by the level of maturity. The raw and the riped yamplung seeds was used in this research. The results showed that the yield of oil in ripe seed is 24.01% and the raw one is 19.17% . Acid number and iodine number of oil based on the average maturity are 37.51 g / ml and 3094.14 g / ml for the ripe fruit, and 37.18 g / ml and 3421.32 g / ml for the raw fruit.Keywords: nyamplung, maturity, yield, oil, fuel.

Abstract

Kaffir lime is one of the plants that produce secondary metabolites. This plant can be used as intercropping plant in the Agroforestry project. Part lime leaves have been used by communities as a refresher, stimulant and insecticide. This study aims to determine the yield of kaffir lime leaves extract and its toxicity against larvae of Aedes albopictus. The extraction method used in this study was maceration with methanol solvent. Yield of extraction Kaffir lime leaves was 8.16%. Toxicity test of Kaffir lime leaves extract against larvae of Aedes albopictus with 24 hours treatment were 2430 ppm for LC50 and 3760 ppm for LC90. Abstract

Vinegar wood is a mixture of solutions and dispersions of wood smoke from the pyrolysis.
