Abstract

TITLEEffect of rich and less sugar tea consumptions to pH salivaABSTRACTEveryday people often consume sweetened tea drinks. The sugar content mixed into the tea drink varies greatly depending on the tastes of the people. Sugar is a simple carbohydrate that can affect salivary acidity (pH). This study aims to determine differences in salivary pH after consuming tea drinks with different levels of sugar different. This research type is Experiment. Research design is pre test and post test with control group. The number of samples is 45 people of Dukuh Temuireng village Sukorejo Regency Pemalang with age 20-35 years. Sampling method using random sampling technique. There are 2 groups of treatment, the group consumes rich sugar tea and less sugar tea. The control group was the group that consumed free sugar tea. Analysis of data in use is One Way Anova Test. The results showed that salivary pH after drinking rich sugar tea decreased the pH 7 value by 80%. And the less sugar tea group decreased the pH 7 by 73%. While the salivary pH after drinking free sugar tea increased at pH value 53%. One Way Anova test results are sig. 0.00 0.05 which means there is a difference of salivary pH in the 3 groups of different sugar levels. Sugar levels in tea drinks can affect the saliva pH of a person who consumes tea drinks. The fluoride content in tea can prevent the occurrence of dental caries but if drinking tea with excessive sugar will result in the occurrence of caries in the teeth. Keywords : Rich sugar tea, less sugar tea , pH of saliva

Abstract

TITLEThe influence of traditional drama as the motivation of self-care of oral and dental health in childrenABSTRACTThe caries rate among primary school-aged children is still high. Based on Riskesdas (Riset Kesehatan Dasar / Base Health Research) in 2013, children with ages from 10-14 years old with dental and mouth health problems reach 25,2%. It takes a genuine and concerted effort from all parties to promote oral hygiene at the age of the children, such as by growing a self-maintained motivation. This study aims to generate a motivation in children with cultural arts approach based on local wisdom, the art of traditional drama. This research is descriptive, which is a research method that was conducted with the aim to create a picture or description of the problem in the case of motivation self-care subjectively. This motivational factor will be assessed using the “Yes-No” questionnaire. For positive questions, each “Yes” answer will be given a “5” score and the “No” answer will be given “0” score. The opposite, for negative questions, each “Yes” answer will be given a “0” score and the “No” answer will be given a “5” score. The population is 72 children grade 3,4, and 5.The result of the research showed that the motivation after being treated with traditional drama was a significant change with an average of 85.69. The number is much higher when compared with the motivation before treatment is given with an average of 48.47. Traditional drama intervention can be used as an alternative media for health education implementation because based on the results of the above research can improve the motivation change. Keywords : Traditional drama, motivation self-preservation

Abstract

TITLELobak stew (Raphanus sativus L) to dental plaqueABSTRACTStreptococcus mutans, Lactobacillus spp. and Candida albicans are the dominant microorganisms found in dental plaque, acidogenic and acidophilic in nature and have the ability to convert carbohydrate to acid. Plaque control is an effort to remove and prevent plaque buildup on tooth surfaces that can be done mechanically or chemically. Radish extract can inhibit the growth of Streptococcus mutans in biofilm formation in vitro. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of stewed water rinse of radish (Raphanus sativus L) to the formation of dental plaque. This study is a quasi-experimental research with Pre-and Post-test Group design. The sample in this study is the students of grade V and VI SDN Kadirejo 03 Semarang regency, amounting to 34 students. The samples were divided into two groups, the first group was given 50% concentration of stewed waterof radish and the second group was given 100% concentration of stewed waterof radish each for 30 seconds followed by index plaque measurement by PHP (Personal Hygiene Performance) method. The data obtained were analyzed using statistical Independent t-test.The results showed that 100% concentration of stewed waterof radish can decrease the index plaque by 0.34 while 50% concentration of stewed waterof radish can decrease the index plaque by 0.28. But statistics show no difference of stewed water rinse of radish of 100% concentration and 50% concentration. From the research results can be recommended to conduct research by material extraction methods that do not damage the active substance of the material. Keywords : Stewed of radish (Raphanus sativus L), dental plaque
