Abstract

This research tried to explore the long term financial performance (window period = 3 years) after aquisitions in the cement industry during the period 2009–2013. The dependent variable is the period of three years before and after the acquisitions and the independent variables are current ratio, return on asset, debt to equity ratio, total asset turnover, net profit margin and stock return. Sampling technique is purposive sampling and the samples obtained amounted to 18 companies. Data processing techniques using different test by comparing the financial performance before and after the acquisition for a long period of 3 years. The results show there are significant differences in debt to equity ratio, net profit margin and stock returns. The cement industry has high debt, negative profit and positive stock return after three years of acquisition. This shows that although the industry has high debt, profit is still negative but responded positively by the market. Bahasa Indonesia Abstrak: Penelitian ini mencoba mengeksplorasi kinerja keuangan jangka panjang setelah merger (windows period = 3 tahun) pada industri semen tahun 2009 – 2013. Variabel dependen adalah periode tiga tahun sebelum dan setelah akuisisi dan varaibel independen adalah current ratio, return on asset, debt to equity ratio, total asset turnover, net profit margin dan return saham. Teknik pengambilan sampel adalah purposive sampling dan sampel yang diperoleh berjumlah 18 perusahaan. Teknik pengolahan data menggunakan uji beda dengan membandingkan kinerja keuangan sebelum dan setelah akuisisi untuk periode jangka panjang yaitu 3 tahun. Hasilnya  menunjukkan ada perbedaan signifikan debt to equity ratio, net profit margin dan return saham.  Industri semen memiliki hutang tinggi, profit negative dan return saham positif setelah tiga tahun akuisisi. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa walaupun industri ini memiliki hutang tinggi, profit masih negative tetapi direspon positif oleh pasar.

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to expose an informal entrepreneurial learning pattern that is undertaken by the Minangkabau tribe in Indonesia and relate it to cultural dimension and perceived value of a society. This informal entrepreneurial learning pattern is called as ‘Merantau’ - which can simply be meant as ‘to emigrate’, in which the young males (mostly during the ages of 15-20, or even younger) leave their homeland; move to other places nationwide or abroad, and running entrepreneurial activities for their daily life. The existence of merantau as an informal cultural based entrepreneurial learning for the young Minangkabau tribe combined with their cultural dimension and perceived values have contributed to the creation of and bring positive impacts to entrepreneurial culture of the Minangkabau tribe.The Minangkabau tribe, as one of tribes in Indonesia, experiences very supportive social environment in which entrepreneurial culture is recognised as part of the way of life. Therefore, Minangkabau tribe is known as one of the most entrepreneurial tribes in Indonesia.This paper considers perceived value and cultural dimension that may bring consequence to entrepreneurial culture of a society, with particular analysis to Minangkabau tribe in Indonesia. Analysis is undertaken by considering the elements and index of cultural dimension and perceived values of a society that can create and intiate entreprenuerial habits and relate them to entrepreneurship.Result of the analysis shows an evidence that culture of a society also plays an important role to create and maintain entrepreneurial habits and experience of a society. Together with cultural dimension of a society, perceived values that a society has, also contributes to the creation of entrepreneurial culture of that society. This is shown in the context of the Minangkabau tribe who is well known as an entrepreneurial tribe in Indonesia. However, this study analyses one single cultural background from a specific tribe in Indonesia and since it was undertaken to a single cultural background, it will be worth to extend this study and investigation into several cultural and value backgrounds from various ethnic groups/tribes in Indonesia or any other countries. Comparatively, this will add knowledge and dimension regarding entrepreneurship and its relationship to cultural dimension and perceived values of a society/community/ethnic group.

Abstract

Current technological advances, particularly in information and communications technology (ICT) and social media have sparked a phenomenon in the business world. The existence of social commerce (s-commerce), which is a combination of e-commerce and social media, has opened up greater opportunities for SMEs in Malaysia. The use of s-commerce as a medium for marketing and buying and selling is capable of helping SMEs to increase the sales and profitability of their businesses. However, according to studies conducted by SME Corp Malaysia, the usage of e-commerce and social media is still low. Attitude and self-efficacy are variables that are often used in studies related to entrepreneurs and their intention to accept a new business innovation or technology. Therefore, this study was undertaken to identify the internal factors within entrepreneurs, namely attitude and self-efficacy, which influence the acceptance and use of s-commerce among SMEs in Malaysia.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Quality of Service Quality of Service Customer Satisfaction either simultaneously or partially on Cabang JNE Bandung. JNE is a freight company and documents that have been established since 1990. In 2004, JNE set up headquarters in Jakarta. The JNE Bandung has a branch office in Jalan Permata Kawaluyaan numbers 1-4 Soekarno Hatta, Bandung. The type of research used in this study was descriptive research type using a quantitative approach. The analysis technique used was descriptive analysis techniques and multiple linear regression. While the sampling technique used was Non Probability sampling using purposive sampling and number of samples of 78 people. The results of this research showed that the quality of service (X) consisting of Reliability, Assurance, Tangibles, Empathy, and Responsiveness simultaneously had significant influence on satisfaction of customers with significant value (p value) of 0.003 < 0.05. Partial test results showed that the only variable that empathy has a partial effect on was customer satisfaction with the number of variables of significance (p value) amounted to 0.021 < 0.05.

Abstract

Entrepreneurship is a highly developed science today, as well as in the world of education in Indonesia. Teaching entrepreneurship at the university level, especially at some universities in Surabaya, the second largest city in Indonesia, shows the positive impact that there were 74.03% of start-up businesses that survived and thrived in 2014. Based on the previous observation, some business start-ups are accompanied by a mentor. Mentoring is a process of forming and maintaining lasting relationships that develop intensively among seniors with juniors. The mentoring function includes career and psychosocial functions. The main purpose of this research is to study the relationship between mentoring and the success of a start-up business. This study is a quantitative descriptive study using a random sampling method to obtain 100 samples. The tool used to collect data was a questionnaire. The methodology used to analyze the quantitative description to test the hypothesis. The results of this study indicate that mentoring influences the success of a start-up business that was owned by university students in Surabaya, Indonesia by 32% and 78% was influenced by other variables.

Abstract

Related to fraudulent financial statements by PT. Kimia Farma, Indosat, and others, this research looked at fraud committed by companies. The purpose of this research was to determine if the audit committee's independence, the financial expertise of the audit committee, and the size of the company were factors in possible fraudulent financial statements of manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange during the period 2013-2015. The possibility of fraudulent financial statements is measured by Beneish M-score. Quantitative research was conducted using an associative methodology and regression analyzing logistics (logistic regression). 82 companies were chosen using purposive sampling technique and secondary data. The results showed that the independence of the audit committee and the size of the company had no effect on the possibility of fraudulent financial statements and the financial expertise of the audit committee had an influence on the possibility of fraudulent of financial statements.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK:  Terkait kasus kecurangan laporan keuangan yang dilakukan PT.Kimia Farma, Indosat dan lain-lain maka penelitian ini akan mendeteksi kecurangan yang dilakukan perusahaan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh komite audit independen, keahlian keuangan komite audit dan ukuran perusahaan terhadap kemungkinan kecurangan laporan keuangan pada perusahaan manufaktur yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia periode 2013-2015. Kemungkinan kecurangan laporan keuangan diukur melalui Beneish M-score. Jenis penelitiannya kuantitatif dengan metode penelitian asosaitf dan teknis analisis datanya menggunakan regresi logistic (logistic regression). 82 perusahaan dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dan menggunakan data sekunder. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan komite audit independen dan ukuran perusahaan tidak berpengaruh pada kemungkinan kecurangan laporan keuangan sedangkan keahlian keuangan komite audit berpengaruh pada kemungkinan kecurangan laporan keuangan.

Abstract

The study discusses process and implementation of knowledge sharing as the basis of learning in the innovation process that is undertaken in small and medium scale enterprises/SMEs with the contextual overview on the West Sumatran SMEs in Indonesia. As the context of the study, a specific SME in West Sumatra was taken as the case study. The study is an empirical-exploratory research where the qualitative method in terms of descriptive analysis was used as the main research approach. It also uses content analysis from the result of an in-depth interview as its main data analysis. A case study approach is used to collect data and information from the informants of the study. It can be inferred from the study that knowledge sharing has allowed an equal dissemination of information between people in the organisation of SME. Employees and owners spread information, knowledge as well as experience equally one to each other and this has led to the creation of a conducive environment in which learning processes can be smoothly undertaken. Such learning processes directly ease the innovation processes that is schemed and undertaken by the SME.Bahasa Indonesia Abstrak: Artikel ini membahas proses dan implementasi knowledge sharing sebagai sebuah dasar bagi pembelajaran dalam proses inovasi yang dterjadi pada usaha kecil dan menengah/UKM dengan konteks pada UKM di Provinsi Sumatera Barat, Indonesia. Sebagai bagian dari konteks, maka dilakukan pemilihan UKM spesifik yang dijadikan sebagai studi kasus. Studi ini merupakan penelitian empiris-exploratory yang menggunakan metode kualitatif dalam bentuk analisa deskriptif. Studi ini juga menggunakan analisa konten sebagai hasil dari in-depth interview untuk menganalisis data yang telah berhasil dikumpulkan. Pendekatan studi kasus digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data dan informasi dari informan penelitian. Studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa knowledge sharing akan memberikan dampak berupa adanya pembagian informasi yang merata antara sesama individu didalam UKM. Para karyawan dan pemilik UKM saling menyebarkan informasi, pengetahuan serta pengalaman secara merata pada sesamanya. Situasi ini lebih lanjut menciptakan lingkungan yang kondusif dimana proses pembelajaran dapat terlaksana dengan baik.  Proses pembelajaran yang dilakukan tersebut secara langsung mempermudah proses inovasi yang direncanakan dan dilakukan oleh UKM.

Abstract

Indonesia's export policy has been promoted since 1983. Since then, exports have been a concern in spurring economic growth along with the changing industrialization strategy from the emphasis on import substitution industry to the export promotion industry. In line with the 2017 economic growth target of 5.4%, the study on exports is interesting to examine given that exports are one of the factors driving Indonesia's economic growth. The objectives of the study were to analyze the effect of exchange rate on exports and their impact on Indonesia's economic growth. The data analysis was done by path analysis, using historical data from 1970 to 2015. The results showed: (a) The exchange rate (Rp/USD) partially has a positive and significant influence on the export volume of Indonesia, with a total influence of 71.57%,( b) Partial export changes have a positive and significant impact on economic growth Indonesia, with a total influence of 65.29%, (c) Partial exchange rates have a positive but insignificant effect on economic growth in Indonesia, with a total influence of 1.19% and (d) Changes in exchange rates and export changes have a positive effect on the economic growth of Indonesia, with direct effect of 77.38% and indirect effect of 6.36% and both exogenous variables have an effect of 71.02% on the economic growth of Indonesia.Bahasa Indonesia Abstrak:  Pengutamaan ekspor Indonesia sudah digalakkan sejak tahun 1983. Sejak saat itu, ekspor menjadi perhatian dalam memacu pertumbuhan ekonomi seiring dengan berubahnya strategi industrialisasi dari penekanan pada industri substitusi impor ke industri promosi ekspor. Sejalan dengan target pertumbuhan ekonomi tahun 2017 sebesar 5,4%, maka kajian tentang ekspor menarik untuk diteliti, dimana ekspor merupakan salah satu faktor yang mendorong pertumbuhan ekonomi. Perilaku ekspor dipengaruhi oleh kurs. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk menganalisis pengaruh nilai tukar terhadap ekspor dan dampaknya terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi Indonesia. Metode analisis data dilakukan dengan analisis jalur, dengan menggunakan data historis 1970-2015. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (a) Nilai tukar (Rp/USD) secara parsial memiliki pengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap volume ekspor Indonesia, dengan total pengaruh sebesar 71,57%, (b) Perubahan ekspor secara parsial memiliki pengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi Indonesia, dengan total pengaruh sebesar 65,29%, (c) Perubahan kurs secara parsial memiliki pengaruh positif namun tidak signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi Indonesia, dengan total pengaruh sebesar 1,19% dan (d) Perubahan nilai tukar dan perubahan ekspor memiliki pengaruh positif terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi Indonesia, dengan pengaruh langsung 77,38% dan pengaruh tidak langsung-6,36% dan kedua variabel eksogen berpengaruh sebesar 71,02% terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi Indonesia.

Abstract

This study investigates the factors affecting borrowing intention among young entrepreneur of Indonesia TDA community based on the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). About 100 questionnaires were accepted and analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) in determining the relationships. The results show that borrowing intention amongst young entrepreneur of Indonesia TDA community is influenced by attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavior control, self identity, situational temptation, and past behavior. The young entrepreneur of Indonesia TDA community believe that they have complete control of their behavior in borrowing as they perceived to be equipped with the knowledge about the personal financing. In addition, because of their experience in students’ loans since undergraduates’ level, the result explains why situational temptation were found to be a significant predictor. The findings offer implications for researchers and government.

Abstract

The event communication has for objective to give another dimension to the company or to the brand, by bringing it out of its daily life and by developing relations with its target public, around their centers of interests. It may be by sharing the same passions, by making live feelings to a group, by federating and by creating links; because today we need a more emotional and more real component.Since a few years, the event communication seems to be "revisited" by companies and appears to stand out as an alternative to media or other more traditional tools. For the upholders of the relationship marketing, this communication delivers “a social message which affects the spectator or the auditor in its inhalation to be a part of a social, sports or artistic community” (Perlstein and Picket, 1985).Therefore, we are going to expose our researches and would try to answer the following problem: "what is the impact of the event communication on the Moroccan large company, independently of any different parasite variable? ".The objective of our research is to try to make notions understand around the event communication, and especially the evaluation of its added value on the efficiency of the Moroccan large company. To try to answer these questions derived of our problem, our research will concentrate on: a first theoretical part around a set of concepts, a second part will be the object of an empirical study.
