Abstract

Brand strategy is an important thing that has to be built by the company to strengthen the relationship between a company and its customers to provide benefits for the company so that the company is able to win the competition in the industry (Sadat, 2009). Wheeler (2013) explains that the company can create a brand strategy to provide a strong sense so that it can compete with the competitors. The development of creative industries in Indonesia made a great contribution in the economy of Indonesia where the craft sector became the biggest contributor (Indonesia Kreatif, 2014). Companies which engaged in the craft sector are increasing, so that the companies face intense competition. It means that the company needs to build a brand that build good perception and gain the trust of the customers. This study aims to find strategies that can increase brand awareness by conducting case study on Empress Box company. Empress Box that founded in January 2014 is a company engaged in the creative industries. The company produce exclusive jewelry made of silver. The method used in this study is a qualitative with case study approach. The result of this study suggest three strategies. The first strategy that can increase brand awareness is the brand building characteristics that determine the segmenting, targetting, and positioning. The second strategy is to do integrated marketing communication (IMC), by using social media, joining competitions and exhibitions. The third strategy is product placement by doing endorsements and displaying the products in multibrand stores.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the influence of perceived ease of use, perceived ease of use, and attitude toward using on the intention to use mobile payment and the influence of perceived ease of use on the intention to use mobile payment through attitude toward using as mediation variable for traders at Taman Puspa Raya (TPR) market. Taman Puspa Raya Market (TPR) is used as an object in this research because there is a shift of payment system to the traders at the TPR market that causes the traders to have similarities in using fintech as payment system alternative. This research uses a quantitative method. The population in this research is 168 traders at the TPR market that using mobile payment as a payment alternative. The number of samples in this research is 45 respondents, and the response rate in is 100%. In this research, data analysis is done by Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS). The results of this research indicate that all hypotheses are accepted. These results indicate another support evidence for the theory of acceptance model (TAM). A suggestion to future researchers is to get closer to the traders before the study is made so that traders will be more proactive and willing to help in the process of filling out the questionnaire so that the data obtained is not biased. Suggestion for traders is traders can be more careful and double-check existing transactions by ensuring that the transaction is successful and there is a notification on the merchant's cellphone.

Abstract

Gojek is a business startup that provides application-based services and has earned a Decacorn degree. Decacorn title can be awarded to business startups that have a valuation of above US $ 10 billion. The mobile payment facility, Gopay, is one of 20 services provided by Gojek to answer the needs of people who are starting to switch from using cash to mobile payment. One's interest in using a technology is influenced by several factors. In the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) theory, there are several factors that influence the interest in using E-Wallet, namely perceived usefulness, attitude toward using, and behavioral intention to use. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of perceived usefulness on behavioral intention to use e-wallet, Gopay, through mediating attitude toward using in Ternate City. The method in this research is descriptive quantitative, with analysis tools using partial least square. This study has a sample of 145 respondents. The results of the study showed that perceived usefulness influenced positively and significantly on behavioral intention to use, and attitude toward using. Attitude toward using influenced positively and significantly on behavioral intention to use. Perceived usefulness has a positive and significant effect on behavioral intention to use through attitude toward using as a mediating variable. Abstract

Home industry Furniture in Surabaya, Indonesia, at the micro and small business level. Like other developing countries, micro, small, and medium enterprises have an essential role in economic growth. The problem is that imported products make them suffer. They try to sustain in this tough competition. This study aims to understand their position and what they need to sustain or grow in the future. This study uses a qualitative approach with interviews as the primary data source, surveys and documentation as supporting data sources. The respondent in this study, both for interview and survey, is the owner of the home industry, with a minimum of ten years in business and the level micro and small business. The result of this study shows that home industry' owner must change their mindset about how they do their business significantly; they must innovate their product, have a new idea, have a professional marketing plan, and the important one is to understand the market.

Abstract

Entrepreneurship is a highly developed science today, as well as in the world of education in Indonesia. Teaching entrepreneurship at the university level, especially at some universities in Surabaya, the second largest city in Indonesia, shows the positive impact that there were 74.03% of start-up businesses that survived and thrived in 2014. Based on the previous observation, some business start-ups are accompanied by a mentor. Mentoring is a process of forming and maintaining lasting relationships that develop intensively among seniors with juniors. The mentoring function includes career and psychosocial functions. The main purpose of this research is to study the relationship between mentoring and the success of a start-up business. This study is a quantitative descriptive study using a random sampling method to obtain 100 samples. The tool used to collect data was a questionnaire. The methodology used to analyze the quantitative description to test the hypothesis. The results of this study indicate that mentoring influences the success of a start-up business that was owned by university students in Surabaya, Indonesia by 32% and 78% was influenced by other variables.

Abstract

In general, Indonesian people are more interested in becoming employees than entrepreneurs. Based on Google’s search engine, the popularity of employee as an occupation is shown at 81 in a scale of 1-100. There is increasing demand for employees who are able to perform many functions at work. As an educational institution with a focus on entrepreneurship, Ciputra University established a Corporate Entrepreneurship (CE) guild. The increasing number of guild members indicates higher intrapreneurial intention, which is influenced by entrepreneurial orientation. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to determine the role of entrepreneurial orientation dimensions, which are Innovativeness, Need for Achievement, Networking, Proactiveness, and Risk Taking, on the intrapreneurial intention of Corporate Entrepreneurship students in Ciputra University. This research is a quantitative research with Multiple Linear Regression as analysis technique. The population of this study is the first and second generations of Corporate Entrepreneurship students with a sample of 118 respondents. Furthermore, questionnaire is used as a means to obtain research data. The outcome of this research indicates that Innovativeness, Need for Achievement, and Networking have significant effects on intrapreneurial intention. On the other hand, Proactiveness and Risk Taking have no significant effects on intrapreneurial intention.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries that are focusing on encouraging its people to become an entrepreneur. This research was conducted to know the causes of many failed student businesses with the aims to determine the effect of entrepreneurial orientation on the entrepreneurian intention with self-efficacy as a mediating variable on young entrepreneurs in Surabaya. The data was collected by distributing questionnaires directly to the respondents using the Likert scale 1-5. The population of this study is 474 young entrepreneurs who are students of Ciputra University in Surabaya who are currently in business. The sampling method used was convenience sampling with sampling techinique using Hair et al., calculation producing 102 respondents. The data were analyzed using validity test, reliability test, classic assumption test, hierarchial regression test, and hypothesis test. The results of this study showed that (1) entrepreneurial orientation has a significant effect on self-efficacy; (2) self-efficacy has a significant effect on entrepreneurship intentions; (3) entrepreneurial orientation have a significant effect on entrepreneurial intentions; (4) and entrepreneurial orientation have a significant effect on entrepreneurial intentions after being mediated with self efficacy. Abstract

As one of the literary works that use connotative, symbolic language, full of aesthetic metaphors, poetry has implicit value in the lines of words or analogies that are strung together to display messages in different ways. Transept's poems are full of signs and implicit messages, making the author interested in studying some of Transept's poems with Pierce's semiotic approach to construct the meaning of poetry. This research is expected to contribute to developing an understanding of poetry from a semiotic perspective, providing greater insight into language and culture. Through descriptive qualitative method, the author describes icons, symbols, and indexes in some of Transept's poems. The research results obtained are the discovery of 8 symbols, 7 icons, and 2 indexes in the poem “Jiwa” which emphasizes the sense of loss like a sea storm that swayed the boat; 8 symbols, 8 icons, and 7 indexes in the poem “Di Tubuh Bumi Kita Tumbuh dengan Tabah Ibu” which makes the mother and the universe as an analogy of love; 8 symbols, 5 icons, and 4 indexes in the poem “Sepetak Rumah” which make the island of Sumatera a representation of a big dream an a patch of house a small dream; 9 symbols, 8 icons, and 7 indexes in the poem “Biarkan Kenangan Menjelma Daun” which makes trees a representation of love and falling leaves a memory
