Jurnal IPTEK-KOM : Jurnal Ilmu Pengetahuan dan Teknologi Komunikasi merupakan jurnal penelitian dalam bidang komunikasi dan teknologi informasi yang diterbitkan oleh Balai Pengkajian dan Pengembangan Komunikasi dan Informatika (BPPKI) Yogyakarta. BPPKI Yogyakarta adalah Unit Pelayan Teknis di bawah Badan Penelitian dan Pengembangan SDM, Kementerian Komunikasi dan Informatika RI. Jurnal IPTEK-KOM pertama kali terbit tahun 1998. Saat itu, BPPKI Yogyakarta masih bernama Balai Penelitian Pers dan Pendapatan Umum (BP3U) di bawah naungan Departemen Penerangan RI. Jurnal IPTEK-KOM fokus pada bidang komunikasi, kebijakan publik, serta teknologi informasi dan komunikasi Jurnal IPTEK-KOM terbit 2 (dua) kali dalam setahun yaitu pada bulan Juli dan Desember.

Abstract

The handover the ASEAN Chairmanship to Indonesia brought Indonesia as a host of ASEAN Summit 2023 held in Labuan Bajo, NTT. In the preparation of this event, Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs utilized social media as a tool for digital diplomacy. This study aims to analyze the digital diplomacy efforts of the Indonesia’s MoFA through its official X account, @Kemlu_RI, which has demonstrated higher activity compared to the Ministry's Instagram and Facebook accounts. This study used a qualitative approach, utilizing content analysis and a critical paradigm. Data collection is conducted using the Anaconda Navigator application, which facilitates the management and analysis of the data. The findings indicate that the application of digital diplomacy at this event represents an initial milestone compared to previous ASEAN Summits. It has effectively supported Indonesia's position in multilateral forums and enhanced its public presence. However, the study also reveals that  the implementation of dialogic communication principles has been suboptimal, particularly in terms of responding to comments or questions from netizens.

Abstract

This article discusses the representation of male stereotypes in the media Cosmopolitan.co.id which is an online media owned by Cosmopolitan Indonesia with a target audience of women. This research aims to analyze the representation of male stereotypes in Cosmopolitan.co.id. The method used is Charles Sander Peirce's semiotic text analysis with the concept of a triadic relationship consisting of sign, object, and interpretant. The objects analyzed are four images and article texts in the Man Corner section at Cosmopolitan.co.id. The results showed that there are four forms of stereotypes of male characters in Man Corner articles, namely like to lie, sex-oriented, tend to be unfaithful to partners, and dominant in relationships. Cosmopolitan.co.id creates several forms of concerns, namely concerns about the partner and self which then directs self-evaluation. Cosmopolitan.co.id ultimately perpetuates stereotypes of men and creates women's anxiety, especially anxiety in relationships and anxiety towards partners.

Abstract

The use of technology, especially social media users, has an impact on human behavior patterns, especially in big cities such as DKI Jakarta Province. One of the impacts of using social media is the emergence of phubbing behavior. This research aims to determine the influence of intensity and addiction of social media use on phubbing behavior in DKI Jakarta Province. The method used is a survey method with a probability sampling technique with a total of 400 respondents taken within the period 31 October – 12 November 2022. The result is in line with Media Dependency Theory, if someone depends on media that can fulfill their needs, so that media becomes important for the user. The results of the hypothesis test state that the intensity of social media use has a positive, significant, and low effect of 11.4% on phubbing behavior. Addiction to using social media has a positive, significant, and strong effect of 45.1% on phubbing behavior. These figures show that the intensity and addiction of social media use significantly influence phubbing behavior.

Abstract

The issue of vagrants and beggars is often used by officials or political figures to gain public attention through news in the mass media. As happened in the news about Tri Rismaharini after being appointed as the Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. This research uses the Textual Network Analysis (TNA) method on mass media coverage, then relates it to branding politics. Data collection was carried out using web scraping, by taking samples of news coverage on online news portals in the period December 2020 to January 2021. The results show that there are five main clusters in the discourse on vagrants and beggars. "Risma" and "Social" are the nodes with the highest level of centrality in the discourse, which shows high interconnectedness with other nodes. The branding politics carried out can be seen from the use of symbols that become differentiators and the authenticity raised from the central character, by showing her closeness and concern for the fate of vagrants and beggars in the capital city.
