Jurnal IPTEK-KOM : Jurnal Ilmu Pengetahuan dan Teknologi Komunikasi merupakan jurnal penelitian dalam bidang komunikasi dan teknologi informasi yang diterbitkan oleh Balai Pengkajian dan Pengembangan Komunikasi dan Informatika (BPPKI) Yogyakarta. BPPKI Yogyakarta adalah Unit Pelayan Teknis di bawah Badan Penelitian dan Pengembangan SDM, Kementerian Komunikasi dan Informatika RI. Jurnal IPTEK-KOM pertama kali terbit tahun 1998. Saat itu, BPPKI Yogyakarta masih bernama Balai Penelitian Pers dan Pendapatan Umum (BP3U) di bawah naungan Departemen Penerangan RI. Jurnal IPTEK-KOM fokus pada bidang komunikasi, kebijakan publik, serta teknologi informasi dan komunikasi Jurnal IPTEK-KOM terbit 2 (dua) kali dalam setahun yaitu pada bulan Juli dan Desember.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to measure basic digital literacy skills for adolescents in Medan. The basic digital literacy skills include analyzing, verifying, and finding information obtained. Quantitative method is used in this study to analyzed the findings descriptively. The research design is applied in the form of an online survey. The population used in this study was a group of middle-aged adolescents (15-18 years) in Medan. Taro Yamame formula is used to determine the sample size of this study. Due to Taro Yamame formula, the sample size involved in this study was 300 respondents, with a margin of error of 5.76%. The results shows that teenagers in Medan generally have basic digital literacy skills to ward off fake news at a capable and very capable level. However, there are some records where teenagers are still not very able to implement the ability to analyze and find the information they get from online media.

Abstract

This study aims to realize social design virtually through brand activation for the Ciliwung Condet Community (KCC) Jakarta. The urgency of this research is to obtain the ideal virtual design format and foundation in the social media format of the Instagram, Facebook and Website platforms related to the Ciliwung Condet Community. The data were collected based on field studies, interviews and extensive literature. This study uses a descriptive method with an analytical approach of What, Who, Why, When, Where and How (5W1H). The results of this study provide a conclusion that the format of field social research through Project Learn Based (PLB) and Project Case Study (PCS, can be used as a basis for solving problems and producing a branding design for the Ciliwung Condet Jakarta Area community, through virtual digital media.

Abstract

The digital divide is a crucial issue in developing countries. Indonesia needs to find elite solutions to solve the issue. By looking at the speedy development of telecommunications and the cheapening of information technology, especially the internet, the expectation is to lower the digital gap problems. Bythis time, the digital divide discourse is mostly associated with the availability of access and infrastructure, even though good digital capabilities are a prerequisite for digital equality. This study aims to observe how the conditions of the digital divide in Indonesia and the way to solve it are presented by the government or individuals to overcome the digital divide. Using the descriptive qualitative method in this research is to illustrate the restrictions of the digital divide between provinces and regions in Indonesia and what solutions have been taken to address the digital divide in Indonesia. This study concludes that the enlargement of internet access in Indonesia has not been linear with the digital competency of its people. It includes motivation to be more productive using the internet, get useful information and use it for productive activities that can improve the economy.

Abstract

Aliran Kebatinan Perjalanan is one of the minority beliefs in Indonesia. The two figures from that belief were invited as guest stars in the 20th episode of the podcast Berbeda Tapi Bersama. Through the podcast, the two figures voiced their views and experiences as a minority group in a country that actually already has rules for its citizens to be free to choose the religion and belief they believe in. Based on the three dimensions of Dahlgren's online public sphere, structural, representational and interactional, the 20th episode of Berbeda Tapi Bersama reveals that the podcast has the capability to manifest a communicative public sphere by combining the structure of digital and traditional public sphere, the participants have several different views so it makes the discussion to be the representation of diversity and the interaction of the participants produced exchange of views and common goals. Overall, through those findings, podcast is one of the digital media that can be expected to be used more as part of the digital public sphere.

Abstract

Generation Z now uses social media as a place and a source of social capital. There are a lot of issues that come along with social media usage growing. One of them is social media corporations' marketing of user data. This study aims to examine how Generation Z manages privacy in light of the issue of personal data monetization. This research approach employs descriptive quantitative, and the convenience sampling method is used for sampling. In Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta, 100 Generation Z respondents with ages ranging from 1995 to 2010 participated in the study. This study analyzes the privacy policies of the Meta corporation, which is in charge of two social media platforms, especially Facebook and Instagram, to contextualize the several ways that personal data is used for commercial purposes. This study combines objective and subjective privacy management using an integrative privacy management theory. According to the study's findings, users of social media carefully read the terms of service before using them and are aware of what is done with their personal information. Users' concerns about the dissemination of their private information on social media are impacted by this.

Abstract

Cyber attacks that target a country have occurred in Georgia, Estonia and Ukraine, these attacks were able to paralyze vital infrastructure in both countries. Similar attacks have the potential to occur in Indonesia, so it is necessary to understand the mechanism of cyber attacks and how to prevent them. This study uses a qualitative approach with the aim of understanding cyber attacks through the Russian cyber war against Estonia and Georgia. In addition, this study also aims to understand the role of the State Intelligence Agency in countering cyber threats in Indonesia. The findings of this study are cyber attacks against Giorgia and Estonia through each stage of Cyber Early Warning. In preventing similar attacks, BIN plays a role in preventing cyber attacks by coordinating intelligence, cyber patrols and security assessments

Abstract

Students can graduate from their studies on time if they have good information literacy skills and motivation to complete studies even during the COVID-19 pandemic. The aims of this study are to: 1) describe the characteristics of the respondents, and 2) analyze the relationship between information literacy and student motivation in completing studies during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research approach uses quantitative survey method. Data collection techniques by means of observation and distributing online questionnaires to 88 respondents. The sample selection technique used a simple random sampling and the data analysis used descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The results showed that: 1) almost half of the total respondents (40.91 percent) studied at the Islamic Communication and Broadcasting Study Program (KPI). More than a quarter of the respondents (26.14 percent X 37.50 percent) have a high school (SMA), Madrasah Aliyah (MA) and Islamic boarding school (Ponpes) educational background. The majority of respondents' average pocket money (61.36 percent) is low, ranging from IDR 200,000 to IDR 800,000. The majority of respondents (79.55 percent) are not scholarship recipients, and 2) information literacy has a positive and significant relationship (Sig. 0.000 < 0.05) with student motivation in completing studies during the COVID-19 pandemic. This means that the higher the information literacy competence, the higher the level of student motivation to be able to complete studies on time and vice versa.

Abstract

Government’s Riau through Diskominfotik Riau Province has adapted to using technology for public communication. The aim is to find out the description of public communication carried out by the Diskominfotik Riau Province in the era of the communication and information technology revolution. The method used is qualitative, data collection techniques namely observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis technique used Miles and Huberman and technique validity of the data was using Triangulation. The results showed that public communication carried out by Diskominfotik Riau Province went through a number of stages. The first stage is collecting data from various sources. The next stage is data analysis and presenting it in a content which will be disseminated to the public. After the content is ready, then it is distributed to all media channels of Government’s Riau including the website mediacenter.riau.go.id, social media government’s Riau and don't forget to also broadcast on online radio.

Abstract

Companies that want to survive in the era of information technology disruption characterized by hyperconnected business operations must quickly adopt social media technology. The problems faced by the business sector often delay the use of today's business models due to high anxiety. In fact, the role of digital marketing through the use of social media is very large. So, the company’s main key in responding to and seizing opportunities from this upheaval is innovation. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of social media and innovation on SME business performance. The diffusion of innovations theory is used in this study as an affirmation that the implementation of technological innovation by SMEs is driven by the characteristics of innovation and organizational characteristics, bearing in mind that the current research unit of analysis is SMEs, namely organizations. In this research, to acquire a better understanding of the relationship between variables, quantitative approaches based on variance Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and Partial Least Squares (PLS) were applied. Respondents were drawn from SMEs in the food and beverage sector in Surabaya, Indonesia, via an online questionnaire. The findings of this study provide positive and significant evidence between the role of social media utilization and innovativeness on SME performance. This means that SMEs in Surabaya have realized that social media is a very important tool for the success of a company. These technologies take information and knowledge sharing, interaction, and advertising to a higher level, resulting in benefits for organizations and customers. SMEs will fail and perish if they do not dare to innovate in technology.

Abstract

This paper discusses the impact of social restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic on the tourism sector and the role of the government in efforts to recover from the impacts that occurred through several programs, especially social marketing on social media (owned media). The use of social media is the right choice and a reliable solution as an effort to transform sustainable tourism marketing. This program will not run effectively without a good marketing strategy. The selection and use of promotional content affects the message to be conveyed. Therefore, this study seeks to analyze the content of social media content (Instagram and Youtube) belonging to the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia and analyze the effectiveness of the promotional content.
