Jurnal IPTEK-KOM : Jurnal Ilmu Pengetahuan dan Teknologi Komunikasi merupakan jurnal penelitian dalam bidang komunikasi dan teknologi informasi yang diterbitkan oleh Balai Pengkajian dan Pengembangan Komunikasi dan Informatika (BPPKI) Yogyakarta. BPPKI Yogyakarta adalah Unit Pelayan Teknis di bawah Badan Penelitian dan Pengembangan SDM, Kementerian Komunikasi dan Informatika RI. Jurnal IPTEK-KOM pertama kali terbit tahun 1998. Saat itu, BPPKI Yogyakarta masih bernama Balai Penelitian Pers dan Pendapatan Umum (BP3U) di bawah naungan Departemen Penerangan RI. Jurnal IPTEK-KOM fokus pada bidang komunikasi, kebijakan publik, serta teknologi informasi dan komunikasi Jurnal IPTEK-KOM terbit 2 (dua) kali dalam setahun yaitu pada bulan Juli dan Desember.

Abstract

The topic of start-ups and entrepreneurship has been widely discussed on social media to disseminate information while serving as a digital marketing platform. Unfortunately, researchers and practitioners interested in analyzing social networks to gain business advantage through digital platforms still need to be expanded. This paper analyzes networks on social media to find important actors and opinion leaders on trending start-up and entrepreneurship topics. Data analytics is performed using one of the most extensive social media, Twitter. Several visualizations of the social network of these actors are then displayed using specific network visualization applications. The results are discussed by analyzing the main attributes in the network, namely degree, centrality, modularity, and word cloud, which can lead us to discover important attributes in the network: main actors, opinion leaders, groupings of actors according to topics discussed, and specific terms that are trending topics. This paper contributes to digital marketing practitioners and social network analysis studies in related fields with a concise and duplicable methodology. Further research is recommended to work more extensively with more representative data from multiple networks to analyze these topics in more depth.

Abstract

Changes have not followed the application of working-from-home (WFH) in government agencies in the regulations that cover it. As a result, government investment and efforts to encourage the adoption of WFH to increase employee productivity are not optimal due to various factors. Factors influencing employees to adopt WFH technology need to be analyzed so that employees are willing to do WFH post-pandemic and its implementation can support organizational goals. UTAUT is the basis for developing a research model by adding other factors based on literature studies. PLS-SEM was used to analyze 102 respondents' data and test the eight hypotheses proposed. Three of the eight hypotheses were statistically proven. Perceived self-efficacy and Compatibility factors positively affected WFH adoption with a predictive power of 57.7% of the model. The Adoption factor positively affects Use with the model's predictive power of 47.9%. Organizations implementing WFH must provide training and identify types of work suitable to be applied remotely so that employees will continue to carry out WFH even though the pandemic has ended.

Abstract

E-commerce is a major force in driving the world's digital economy. Indonesia has an important role in developing e-commerce, especially in Southeast Asia. However, several organizations in Indonesia have experienced difficulties in the process of the e-commerce adoption stage, which often leads to failure. This paper aims to predict the factors that influence e-commerce adoption. The quantitative research method was used to test the hypothesis statistically (SEM-PLS). TOEI model (TOE framework and individual context of UTAUT theory) proposed to predict the factors that influence the e-commerce adoption by Perum BULOG. It was found that the technology context (relative advantage, compatibility, and complexity) positively affected e-commerce adoption. So, organizations need to consider technology as a main predictor and accelerator in the success of the e-commerce adoption stage. The other contexts (organizational, environment, and individual) were found to have no relationship with e-commerce adoption.

Abstract

Conditions for online batch university students have led to gossip being exchanged through different channels and with different motives compared to previous student batches that interacted face-to-face. Employing a phenomenological approach, data was collected through interviews to explore the gossip experiences of nine students who have exclusively attended online sessions since the beginning of their studies. The results revealed that LINE, WhatsApp, Instagram, and ZOOM were the channels used for gossip by the students. The research identified general motives, information validation motives, as well as social relationship motives for engaging in gossip. Understanding the channels and motives behind gossip will improve the quality of communication among students and with individuals in their circles. This research also aimed to provide insights into how information, particularly gossip, is treated in an intensive online situation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the social media accounts of Ministers in Indonesia as a means of delivering information to the public. We analyzed two Twitter accounts of Indonesian ministers who were considered to have millennial style and were active on social media, namely Erick Tohir as Minister of SOEs and Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno as Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy. The data obtained is the second Twitter post of the Minister from September 2019 to June 2023. The method in this study uses qualitative content analysis with the Nvivo 12 Plus analysis tool. The results of this study show that Erick Tohir conveyed a number of information about global cooperation, increasing dividends, and the role of SOEs for society. Meanwhile, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno provided information on a number of bilateral relations cooperation, creative economy, and visits to various leading destinations. By looking at the number of comments, retweets, likes, and views on the average post, we conclude that Erick Tohir's communication on Twitter has a greater public response than Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno.

Abstract

Mobile phones were originally wireless devices for one-on-one voice communication. Mobile commerce has changed the purpose and capabilities of mobile devices. This study aims to examine the factors that enable the adoption of m-commerce in Semarang. The theories used in this research are UTAUT and SERVQUAL as well as the constructs of trust and security. A quantitative approach method based on SEM-PLS was applied. Respondents were drawn from m-commerce users across different platforms in Semarang, Indonesia, through an online questionnaire. The findings of this study found positive and significant evidence of an integrated model with consumers' behavioral intention in utilizing m-commerce. This means that researchers and practitioners can gain a more comprehensive understanding of how consumers respond to m-commerce and what influences their intention to use it. The combination of UTAUT and service quality measured by SERVQUAL can provide valuable insights into optimising consumer experience in m-commerce and increasing the adoption rate of the platform.

Abstract

The polemic on the proportional election system ahead of the election continues to emerge. Approaching the 2024 elections, this polemic has re-emerged and has been spearheaded by political actors as political communicators. These communicators use their social media as a forum for conveying propaganda regarding the proportional election system. This study aims to analyze the political communication of political actors involved in the polemic on the issue of a proportional election system ahead of the 2024 Election and how propaganda techniques on social media are related to this issue. This study was conducted to explore patterns of political communication related to the proportional election system delivered on Twitter. This study applies qualitative content analysis or Qualitative Content Analysis (QCA). The study results show that political communicators use social media Twitter to carry out propaganda about the proportional electoral system by using the Testimonial propaganda technique, Card-stacking Frustration, or Scapegoat.

Abstract

The localization of data journalism in Indonesia has also produced data-driven news. Localization and the context of COVID-19 can encourage the formation of data-driven news different from the investigative and complex nature of data journalism products. This article aims to assess the news elements of data journalism products in 317 data-driven COVID-19 news in online media in Indonesia, namely Katadata.co.id, Kompas.id, and Tirto.id. The analytical framework used in this study is based on the concept of news elements of data journalism products (Zamith 2019; Ojo and Heravi 2018; Loosen, Reimer, and De Silva-Schmidt 2020). The results of the quantitative content analysis show that data-driven COVID-19 news in the three online media in Indonesia is characterized by news sources that tend to rely on pre-analyzed open sources, less complex data visualization and interactive features, and weak implementation of source and process transparency. This study concludes that the data journalism developed in Indonesia during the COVID-19 pandemic is the daily data journalism model shaped by the availability of easily accessible and free data and software.

Abstract

The massive advances in digital technology have brought about major changes in business. Various economic activities ranging from marketing, sales, payments, to the distribution of goods have been accelerated by various digital platforms. The same acceleration also occurred in the prostitution business and its various business lines. Even though it is a business that violates moral and religious values, in fact, prostitution that uses online media is growing rapidly. Social media, such as Twitter, Whatsapp, MeChat, and OnlyFans are often used as transaction media for online commercial sex workers. The purpose of this research is to examine digital marketing strategies as well as the products and services offered in the online prostitution business. This study uses digital-based data collection techniques, by conducting online in-depth interviews, digital observations, and digital literature studies. The informants in this study were commercial sex workers and their consumers. This research is also supported by online observations and literature studies. The results of the study show that digital marketing of the online prostitution business includes: (1) utilizing websites that have been optimized for search engines, (2) utilizing social media and creating persuasive content, (3) integrating more than one online media, and (4) ) using digital advertising and e-mail services. Meanwhile, the products and services offered include: (1) audio-visual products, (2) visual products, (3) dating partners, (4) massage services, and (5) intercourse services.

Abstract

The development of social media has created an opportunity for the perpetuation of poverty exploitation in which is mediated through social platforms, for instance, aid that was once given directly is now conveyed through digital features, as seen in one of TikTok’s functionalities, thus giving rise to the emergence of a novel form of commodification, known as “empathy commodification”. This research aims to examine the process of empathy commodification and understand the public’s responses to the phenomenon of online “ngemis dan nyawer” on the TikTok social media platform. Subsequently, strategies will be formulated to mitigate poverty exploitation in the media. The research employs a mixed-method approach with sociocultural approach and interpretative paradigm. Data is collected through content analysis, surveys, in-depth interviews, and literature studies. The research findings indicate that the process of empathy commodification on TikTok occurs through the live streaming feature, with audience empathy being commodified through economic-value gifts. Strategies to reduce poverty exploitation in the media can be achieved by social media campaigns
