Abstract

Indonesia’s future lies on the hands of young generation. The brilliant and dynamic young generation will surely shine Indonesian’s new face thorough out the world community. Higher education has a very strategic role in delivering and creating this ideal condition, particularly through the library. Information given by the collections invited the young generation to surf across the ocean of knowledge in accordance with contemporary scientific developments. Through a qualified libraries which greatly facilitate the role of universities in contributing to the intellectual life of the young generation, to advance science and technology, and apply the values of humanities in order to empower the Indonesian people on an ongoing basis. Qualified library is that which meets the quality standards set by the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia in terms of collection, building, service, library personnel, and management. This article discusses issues around qualified and standardized library mentioned above.

Abstract

Efforts to improve the quality of university libraries should be conducted continuously with reference to library standards published by the National Library. Assessment of the quality of university libraries can be done through accreditation library. Accredited certificate can obtain a university library based on the amount of the weighted value of nine components. These components are the components of the service, collaboration, collection, organizing library materials, human resources, building or space and infrastructure, budget, library management and maintenance of the library collection. To be accredited university library to get the most, librarians should play an active role. Some examples of the role of librarians in the accreditation activities of the university library are studying the accreditation guidelines, prepare the physical evidence, conduct self-evaluation, and perform simulations accreditation.

Abstract

Talking about the increase in human resources, substantively library occupies a very urgent role. However, more library serves as a storage pile of books deserted from literacy activities, let alone research and development activities. This article examines how should the role of librarians in globalization era. In this globalization era, there are four important role librarians, that is collecting and providing access to information and knowledge and sources scattered around the world in multiformat, add or put a value on information and knowledge (adding value), provides online service for 24 hours, and provide varied and dynamic services, included the whole cycle of knowledge, from creation, recording and publication, dissemination, use, and re-creation of knowledge. With these four librarians role, expected to libraries in globalization era not merely as “noun”, that is a place to store a collection of books and a variety of other collections, but the library is able to transform a “verb” or process, that is nursery places and dissemination of knowledge.

Abstract

In education, we need library. Without library, what should the student of university do? It must be exist in the university’s life. What can be the university without the library?Mainly, the library in university becames the heart of university. The three activities based on “Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi” always spend the library to live, grow and optimize. The university library is a library that is incorporated in university, managed entirely by the university concerned with the goal of serving business university to achieve specific goals and objectives of university education in general.An accredited library in the university in something essential and the way to do best for any users. By completing the standard of service, the standard of proficiency, the standard of management, and so on, will keep the library and the users and anyone who need the library run in well and in comfort.

Abstract

This research use qualitative method which dominate with literature studies. Library has role in developing knowledge where need a good governance quality and it as standard in order to get a quality of intellectual generation. Traditional model does not fit in this information era. So in order that library accreditation is very essential to know how far the service in the righ track or nor as like human resource management, activities and the collection. The role of librarian in the accreditation process of library has been begin from planning, team formation, learning accreditation borang, prepare supporting data, valuing borang up to visitation of assecor.Whatever the result of accreditation, the most important is making the result of accreditation as motivation to increase education quality with of library.

Abstract

The focus of this research is the development of human resources in the Library of Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University of Malang. This study aims to examine the human resource needs in the library based on the workload of library services. Workload analysis and the service quality are used as the research methods. The Workload Analysis is measured using performance indicators in five areas/coordinators in the organizational structure of the library and the service quality use five indicators/dimensions of sevice quality that have been developed from SERVQUAL. The finding suggests that there is a gap between the human resource needs with the workload and the service quality. Based on the result, the analysis can be used as a guideline in satisfying the human resource needs in the Library of Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University of Malang.

Abstract

University library accreditation is a need. It acts as quality assurance of the library and supports the university development. The accreditation covers nine components, i.e.; Service, Cooperation, Collection, Material Organization, Human Resources, Physical Supports, Funding, Library Management, and Library Collection Maintenance. Service holds highest mark among them, that is 20 out of 100% by 12 key indicators under service aspects. This research assesses to what extent is IAIN Purwokerto able to prepare library accreditation based on service analysis. Employed quantitave-descriptive approach of library assesment based on standart of university library, the result projects that IAIN Purwokerto is able to get 39 out of 60 points. Even though, it has potency to get 52 points under service assessment. This potency could come from daily opening, weekly opening, members percentage over total students, member percentage over lecturers and university staff, promotion varieties, yearly promotion event, and literacy-information activity.

Abstract

This study will describe: the role of librarians in the successful accreditation of the school library. The approach qualitative research conducted with the type of case studies and research subjects SD Muhammadiyah Sapen and SDIT Lukman Al-Hakim. Informants involved is the librarian at the sites.The results of this study indicate that the library accreditation results are influenced by librarians competency managerial competencies; Information management competence, educational competence, personal competence; social competence, and competence of professional development.

Abstract

Library accreditation is a procedure in order to evaluate all the activities of the organization of the library is measured based on the parameters specified quality standards. The standard is the benchmark measure of quality. Managing the college library-based accreditation means applying the concept of accreditation in the management of the library. There are nine components that need to be referenced accreditation based library management services, collaboration, collection, organizing library materials, human resources, building / space and infrastructure, budget, library management and collections care. Ninth aspect of this being used as a reference library management roadmap in order to realize the quality of the library.

Abstract

Nowadays, the role of libraries is not only as a place to collect the rare references that can not be found in some bookstores, but rather serves as a vehicle for development and exploration potential of the human being, through the collection of reference in line with the development of contemporary, these ideals were impossible to realize if the enthusiasm of visitors to the library was minimal. The provision of library services is a major task of librarians in providing the sources of reference which can be utilized the users maximally. The adopted strategy is not enough just to complete the various collections of books or a variety of facilities and infrastructure to support the sustainability of the library. The important thing that must be concerned is creativity and the role of librarians in attracting public interest to continue to love reading. It is needed through the strategy and optimize the performance of the librarian. Thus the performance of librarians in managing and serving the visitors of the library must be improved from various aspects.
